Michelle Obama is Fur-Free! June 11, 2009
Posted by Ryan | Permalink | Comments ( 12 ) | TrackBackAs you may have heard, France's first lady, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, recently wrote to PETA Senior Vice President Dan Mathews, stating that although she wore fur back in her modeling days, she now refuses to wear even the smallest bits of it.
This was great news! Having a public figure—especially one known for her keen fashion sense—announce that she's fur-free is always a wonderful thing. We were pretty sure life couldn't get any better.
That is, until we ready today's Washington Times, which confirmed that Ms. Bruni-Sarkozy is not alone. In fact, America's own first lady, Michelle Obama, is also fur-free!

The statement—direct from Mrs. Obama's press secretary—said simply, "Mrs. Obama does not wear fur." Considering that these two women are both leading fashion icons, this could very well signal the beginning of the end for the fur trade. Tough luck, Canada.

Good for her! I loved her organic victory garden idea as well.
