Free Stuff Friday: Vegan Soccer Ball From Fair Trade Sports! June 19, 2009
Posted by Tiffany Wright | Permalink | Comments ( 177 ) | TrackBackThis one's for all you soccer fans out there ... I'm sure you've been glued to your sets watching the Confederations Cup, this past week, hoping your favorite team makes it to the finals.
In honor of the 8th annual Confederations Cup, we wanted to do a little somethin' special for you. This week, we're giving you the chance to win a vegan soccer ball from Fair Trade Sports. No animals were skinned in the making of this baby; and you can't miss the word "Respect" branded on front. To me, it's a reminder that people should be respecting the lives of animals.
For your chance to win this vegan soccer ball from Fair Trade Sports, comment below with which team (Brazil, Spain, Italy, South Africa, Egypt, Iraq, New Zealand, USA) you want to win this year's Confederations Cup and why. Entries must be received by June 26th. The person with the most original comment will be chosen as our winner and notified by June 29th.
Just so you know ... by commenting here, you're acknowledging that you've read and agreed to our privacy policy.

I don't really care who wins, I just want to win the prize here.
Posted by: JF at June 19, 2009 10:04 AMItaly! Because they deserve it so much after all of their hard work. Plus, they have good pasta.
Posted by: Christina at June 19, 2009 10:32 AMi would like any team to win , its about the fun not the competition
Posted by: at June 19, 2009 11:07 AMItaly!

i think this team should win cause i like there drive. and there fans in Spain watch by the hours and every game i mean mostly everyone in Spain that i met is like that. and lets not call it soccer really it fut ball thats how i learned it
so i'm excited to whats going to win
and if Spain doesn't i hope Egypt dose
I want the US to win, because ( i know this answer isn't soccer related) the US is where PETA originated from.
Posted by: WS at June 19, 2009 1:12 PMI want the US to win because it is where PETA originated from. LOL Go Soccer and Animals!!
Posted by: Whyishnave at June 19, 2009 1:15 PMwhichever team that wins is the one that should win =)
Posted by: Lena at June 19, 2009 1:42 PMThey're actually called footballs and teh game is called football not soccer (i'm English, our language came first)
Anyway, i want Italy to win cos it's a brilliant country
I really hope England wins! I guess I should cheer for Norway, but I'm not sure if they made it through. England is the football team in my heart. I hope that someone, who hasn't won in a while, wins :)
Posted by: Ingrid Marie Bunes at June 19, 2009 2:01 PMI love Italy, they are an amazing team but Im going for the underdogs New Zealand because i lived there when i was 4 and heyy they have the worlds best rugby team so maybe their soccer team with take the victory!!!
Posted by: Jade Boucher at June 19, 2009 2:08 PMDefinitly has to be Egypte. Out there in the desert all they have to do is praticise and if you can manage to soccer goals out in the sand where they would have all learned to play, playing in a big stadium on grass will be a breeze!
Posted by: Victoria Smith at June 19, 2009 2:09 PMUSA b/c I gotta support my home team!
Posted by: Brit at June 19, 2009 2:12 PMI definetly want Italy to win. They are such a strong team. They have worked so hard to get this far and I want to see them go all the way!
Posted by: Kaitlin at June 19, 2009 2:12 PMI really think it would be cool if Iraq wins...their people have gone/are going through so much that it would be really neat if they had something to celebrate and take things off their mind.
Posted by: Divya at June 19, 2009 2:13 PMI wanted Brazil to win because two of my best friends are from Brazil.
Posted by: Molly at June 19, 2009 2:13 PMI want Brazil to win. I know they have won five world cups already but that is just saying that they are a good team and deserve to win a sixth one. I feel that they work together well enough to have won five world cups. They are the only team to have played in every World Cup and win it in every Continent it's been held up to date. Even though they are ranked fifth by FIFA i feel that by winning there sixth world cup it will bring up their confidence and hopefully help them succeed and being ranked number one. Go Brazil!
Posted by: Chelsea at June 19, 2009 2:15 PMUSA!!! Underdogs all the way!!
I want italiaaa to win!
i am so proud of them :)
ROSSI & DE ROSSI
USA! I have to pull for the country I was born in!
Posted by: Mchll0644 at June 19, 2009 2:20 PMI want the USA to win. I'm an American soccer player myself, so I would like to have some pride in my country's soccer team. When was the last time the USA won anyways? I'm rooting for America. And the soccer ball is cute, too.
Posted by: Kate at June 19, 2009 2:21 PMI would like Italiaaaa to win because they are such a strong team, and they always come up at the top in the end. Rossi and De Rossi are such strong players and Buffon could not be a better goalkeeper! GO GO GO ITALY, WIN THE CONFEDERATIONS CUP!
Posted by: Terita D at June 19, 2009 2:23 PMI would love it if USA won. i have been playing soccer myself for the past 7 years in the US and i am also a vegetarian. having this ball would make my dad (and coach) have so much more respect for me. And not just from reading the ball. But congrats to whoever wins(:
Posted by: Colleen at June 19, 2009 2:30 PMI'm just glad that they make vegan soccer balls, i had no idea until now
Posted by: Benjamin Waltz at June 19, 2009 2:31 PMGo USA
Posted by: Ryan at June 19, 2009 2:33 PMMaybe just any team other than the USA? I mean I'm from Oregon, but it's nice to see other countries win sometimes. (don't want to be selfish or anything) I'm not really into sports or soccer for that matter... but I have two younger sibs that I play with a lot. Just thought it would be neat to win a vegan soccer ball for them! :)
Posted by: Kayleigh S. at June 19, 2009 2:36 PMThe USA represents democracy and the free world. It represents getting out of terrible times, like the great depression, and re-creating a great country. Right now America is in a tough time, and it needs to come out of it and create a great country again. Part of that is showing the world the strength of America, and giving Americans pride in their country again. The way to do that is by USA winning the confederations cup.
Posted by: Asher Guthertz at June 19, 2009 2:43 PMUSA!!! Mainly because I was born here, gotta cheer for the home team, right? but I also love cheering for the underdogs because they're the team that over came the odds and know how lucky they are to be in the position they're in. I'm also a soccer player, but regardless of the sport, it is fun to see upsets rather than the clear winner always getting first.
Posted by: Brittney at June 19, 2009 2:45 PMWell I personally think that our own soccer team, with our stars and stripes should be this years winners because we have a lot if talent and sometimes I feel that the united states soccer team is WAY overrated. GO USA AND GO VEG!! haha
Posted by: Javier Navarrete at June 19, 2009 2:49 PMI want Spain to win because, first of all, they really know how to play, watching one of their games is like watching soccer on xbox, where the ball always gets to the other players feet in a neat way, and you see the coolest goals. Also, I believe they've shown that they deserve to win... and, not that its related to soccer, but they have the sexiest accent ever, haha...
Posted by: Ana at June 19, 2009 2:58 PMThe US - mainly because I am from the US so as always I root for the home team. hehe
Posted by: Michal at June 19, 2009 3:17 PMI want the USA to win, gotta support the home team.
Posted by: Rachel at June 19, 2009 3:18 PMSpain!
Posted by: Iliana Ballester at June 19, 2009 3:26 PMItaly for sure!
Its my dream to go to italy and shop and eat pasta!!! They have a pretty hard core soccer team and I always wanted to play on it when I was little! Now I don't play much but I would definatly play with this new soccer ball!
Posted by: Kimberly at June 19, 2009 3:32 PMI want South Africa to win. Staying true to my roots. :) x
Posted by: Sarah at June 19, 2009 3:38 PMWell obviously the USA team, go USA. We need to teach the world to kick away bad habits and score a goal for animal rights! Unitedly Saving Animals!!! USA! USA! USA!
Posted by: Jessica Donica at June 19, 2009 3:52 PMPersonally, I'd like to root for the team that has not won much this season. I think that the best always needs a wake-up from their "perfect world". To me, it's like humans and ignorantly eating meat. They feel as if they rule over the animals and can treat them with cruelty because they are more powerful. For once, the underdog should win and get all of the glory. Go soccer! (:
Posted by: Clara Harper at June 19, 2009 3:53 PMI will root for the USA, but the Brazilian teams are amazing.
Posted by: Catherine KingChuparkoff at June 19, 2009 3:54 PMItalia only because I am italian and I feel a certian pride in supporting my counrty!
Viva Italia xD
Straight up NEW ZEALAND!!!It has reached the World Cup Finals only once, in 1982, but it managed to mak it in this year and it won the OFC nations cup this year so things are looking good:)
Posted by: Rebecca Monaco at June 19, 2009 4:01 PMSPAIN.
I really want Spain to win. I just love Fernando Torres!

Posted by: Rebecca Monaco at June 19, 2009 4:02 PMBrazil. They are our favorite team. I would like to win so that I can give it to someone I know that was named after a Brazilian soccer player. It was his dad's favorite player & team. I know he would really treasure this.
Posted by: Debra at June 19, 2009 4:06 PMSpain! Just because of love.
Posted by: TOKYOVISION! at June 19, 2009 4:06 PMI wanted the USA to win! they were the underdogs.. and obvisouly still are haha. I do play soccer so it would only be logical to want my fellow team to win! But seeing as how they lost horribly to Brazil yesterday, I now want New Zealand to win. I mean common, who doesn't love their accent? The ball sends a great message too. All the girls at practice would be so jealous of this amazing soccer ball!
Posted by: Amanda Dombrowski at June 19, 2009 4:18 PMItaly!
Because my gran is from there and the food is just excellent.
I don't know who I want to win. I don't really watch soccer much. I'd rather be playing it...
Posted by: Valerie at June 19, 2009 4:24 PMBrazil, because their soccer team has been crazy good and completely, one hundred percent in the game, every game.
Posted by: Alexandria at June 19, 2009 4:33 PMUSA, bc thats where I live =) proud American!
Posted by: Kelly Goble at June 19, 2009 4:43 PMSpain
they are the best. they deserve it
I want the USA to win because I am still depressed over Cleveland's recent loss to Orlando in basketball and I need something to smile/cheer about. I also love vegan products and would definitely use this ball to play soccer with my little nieces.
Posted by: Shannon at June 19, 2009 5:04 PMNormally I would say USA because I live in the US, but I'm gonna say Italy! Because I am part Italian and the US can spare losing something once in a while :)
Posted by: Jennie Weer at June 19, 2009 5:25 PMSPAIN. No explanation needed
Posted by: Sarah at June 19, 2009 5:33 PMI need USA to win. The United States has consistently underperformed on the biggest stages. As a fan of the US Men's National Team, I catch a lot of heck from fans across the world and even fellow Americans. A win would vindicate myself, as well as the team, who disparately needs confidence going into the World Cup in South Africa (as they have shown in their disheartened performances so far). A win in the Confederations Cup would also recruit new fans which the team needs, and it would get the players and coaches to quit accepting mediocrity. Not to mention, I could rub it in the faces of all of those American ship-jumpers who root for Brazil or Spain!
Also, don't forget about supporting the US Women's National Team! Jill Oakes is a vegetarian and has made one appearance already at the young age of 24 so far. A vegetarian cracking the National Team on a regular basis could lead to a vegetarian revolution in the sport!
Posted by: Matt Harkins at June 19, 2009 5:43 PMI want Spain to win because, for once, they have a very nice team. It's a young team and they're really cool, but they're humble too, despite being the Europe champions. I mean the players don't have extravagant lifestyles and such.
(And, well,..... I'm Spanish too ;)
I think Spain or Egypt should win. Spain because they co-operate well together, they have a few of very good players- for example Fernando Torres, David Silva, Carles Puyol. Egypt because they have a really good goalkeeper (Essam El-Hadary)- during a match against Italy he caught all of the shots to the goal. They have a cool name - The Pharaohs.
Posted by: Vanda at June 19, 2009 6:00 PMi would say Egypt, because they are never in the news and should get some popularity there way :)noone is a fan of them but i am!!!
Posted by: amanda tink at June 19, 2009 6:20 PMi just want the ball.
Posted by: susie at June 19, 2009 6:35 PMi want Italy to win because the guy from their are amazingly hot :) and because they are pretty good soccer players when they arn't holding their legs, rolling around screaming, then standing up for their penalty kick...
Go Italy!!
i want Italy to win because the guys from their are amazingly hot :) and because they are pretty good soccer players when they arn't holding their legs, rolling around screaming, then standing up for their penalty kick...
Go Italy!!
I want Brazil to win, because they're awesome.
Posted by: Charisse at June 19, 2009 6:53 PMITALIA all the way! they are an amazing team, and as proven by fifa, they are definately one of the most talented! my idols!
Posted by: at June 19, 2009 8:21 PMUSA, gotta go with the home country
Posted by: Sharon at June 19, 2009 8:22 PMITALY!!! im italian and i love it!!!
Soccer is my life ive been playing since i was 4(making that 11 years)!!!!!!!!!!!!
They won last time in 2006 and hopefully they can do it again!!
I believe in them!!!
VIVA ITALIA!!!!!
USA because soccer is growing and improving in our country, more youth and even aged people are becoming more active over this ancient sport.
This is our chance to prove to the world that our people aren't selfish and obese. That we are active and determined.
I too think South Africa should win this year. South Africa, and well,Africa all in all faces many challenges in many ways. They're strong though and have a beautiful culture. They work hard for this and it just shows how strong they truly are.
Posted by: Jenna at June 19, 2009 9:33 PMI want the USA to win! I've gotta root for my home team. :]
Posted by: Sarah at June 20, 2009 12:02 AMProbably Brazil cause I know they don't have the best reputation right now for the process of destroying their country's forests (which I 100% do NOT approve of) but they want to get their name on the map persay....I think if they win, they might stop with the demolition on their forests and focus more on the athletic abilities Brazil can offer
Posted by: Jackie at June 20, 2009 1:32 AMI want the U.S.A team to win because we are the most commited team. We try are best and work are hardest. We have obsticals we have to get over and we always do, even though some are harder than others. We treat each person with respect, and most of all we want to save animals lives. We never forget we are here for them to help them live in peace and so they are not being killed. We are commited and will be forever.
Posted by: at June 20, 2009 1:53 AMUSA of course but I don't get soccer channels. USA is always my pick :D
Posted by: Tyler at June 20, 2009 1:54 AMEgypt for sure!
The Middle East hasn't been known for something good in a while. So why not win the cup?
Brasil :)
Posted by: Amy at June 20, 2009 4:17 AMI hope South Africa wins. sob stories and cliche reasons for wishing this could be made however despite the truth in what they would be my main reason is they are a good. Previously South African teams have had threats against their lives made from negative results, these players are young, talented and a more publicized SA may mean more publication of their continued horrible treatment of animals, including a possible formation of a PETA there. I like the team I want them to win =]like the idea of respect for the football too =P

Posted by: Peter D at June 20, 2009 12:09 PMUSA!
Posted by: Brandon Ralston at June 20, 2009 12:21 PMThe team that I want to win the 2010 World Cup is South Africa. Their training consists of playing in hard and really hot sun scorching dirt possibly everyday. It really reminds me of how in many other countries, little kids do the same and dream big to one day be part of their home team. I just see that victory for South Africa would be almost as tasty as a Boca Burger!!
Posted by: Wendy at June 20, 2009 12:43 PMI want south Africa to win they have some of the best footballers who go unkown.
Posted by: Kayley at June 20, 2009 1:11 PMI quess I would want USA to since I am from USA, as I play soccer in the US. (Makes since to support a team from where you play yourself.) Even though I am not a professional(nothing close to it, and I'm still really young) soccer player, I hope someday to play on the USA team.
Posted by: Kaylee at June 20, 2009 1:16 PMI want USA to win, cause I gotta give it up for our home team!
Posted by: Jeana at June 20, 2009 2:09 PMusa of course because I love my country
Posted by: sandy at June 20, 2009 2:16 PMI have to say Mexico (I know that it is not in the list) but I'm from Mexico and soccer is the most important activity here. Everytime our team plays huge parties are thrown. It's huge here.
It would be so awesome to win this vegan ball because we would actually use it, and it would be great to say "That ball you are kicking is vegan....it's cruelty free!"...that would be a great way to start a conversation about animal rights. hehe.
I want Italy to win because then everybody can celebrate with vegan pizza!
Posted by: at June 20, 2009 2:43 PMI want whichever team who's been trying their hardest and deserves to win, to win! (:
Italy
I don't watch soccer that much, but when I do, it is Itatly all the way! I am 1/4 Italian and I just fel obligated to love the team, but now I love them because they are just a wonderful team (in my opinion)!
Posted by: at June 20, 2009 3:24 PMHip- Hip-Hooray! Go vegans in the USA!
Posted by: Amanda Jacobson-Eddy at June 20, 2009 3:54 PMI want Brazil to win because they are strong workers and never give up sure they might lose but they still keep fighting, and aren't we doing that here at peta2? sure we may not be fighting for the same thing they are but they are fighting and not giving up(:
Posted by: Emrah Kuc at June 20, 2009 6:58 PMi dont really watch it but i do love soccer i have always wanted to play but never have been able to but i think i am going to go for the very country i was born in the USA yea lol ;)

Posted by: d.e. manning at June 20, 2009 7:31 PMI am cheering for USA!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: Linda at June 20, 2009 8:00 PMThe US of course.
Posted by: shannon Baas at June 20, 2009 8:16 PMthe united states of american.
they need to win, because italy and most of the others have more experience with thus sport. so if they win it will show the others that they too have game and it may boost their convidence, cause you never know the other teams may now be intimadated by them and that might get usa ahead. i love soccer and i would be a proud american if we won.
New Zealand because it is like Australia, only better.

I would like for USA to win because i have some mad respect for that team. On June 6th they went against my favorite team Honduras (who is actually a better team also) abd defeated them 2-1. Their accopmlishment was astonishing to me. They won even though they were in a completely different environment. They have endurane and strenth and wonderful teamwork.
Posted by: Amber Sims at June 20, 2009 8:57 PMI would love to win but since I am not not a soccer player I guess I cant do that. So for a professional team that I can only dream of being involved in would have to be USA. And hopefully I can win too.
Thank you for the chance

I want America to win, we must, we have to and I mean after 8 years of Bush, the American people need this win.
Posted by: at June 20, 2009 10:44 PMi would like either italy or spain to win because not only do some of my roots go back to both spain and italy, but because they play good. and plus they are beauiful places to visit and go on vacation to. the soccer ball is pretty awesome. i need a new one anyway cuz my other one is pretty beat up from all those games.
Posted by: at June 20, 2009 11:51 PMItaly! They have such a better team. And remember, they won Fifa World Cup in '06!
Posted by: at June 21, 2009 2:32 AMWell USA of course, we have to support ourselves!
Posted by: kristi blackstone at June 21, 2009 3:43 AMSouth Africa!
I'm biased, because I'm born there, but there are these reasons too:
They have come a long way from the injustices from the past, and even though I know they are not the most talented of all teams, they still have an amazing amount of spirit. I live in England now, and am British and South African as I have dual nationality, but South Africa has developed themselves so successfully throughout the past few years and have such a sense of belonging and fellowship that I think they deserve to win.
Posted by: Michelle at June 21, 2009 7:18 AMUSA all the way
Posted by: Kathy Scott at June 21, 2009 8:38 AMItaly!
Why you ask? Well because Italian soccer players ae hot. Hot soccer players+bowl of popcorn=me happy :D

Posted by: Catalina at June 21, 2009 1:02 PMI know the US won't win, but I want them to anyway. With the MLS gaining 4 (or more) new teams this year, we need some serious soccer support in America!
Posted by: Andrew J at June 21, 2009 1:14 PMGO ITALIA ! I wanted them to win the fifa and they did in 06 so im proud and i hope they will win again .
P.s PETA is amazing
Posted by: Hannah at June 21, 2009 3:19 PMBRASIL BRASIL BRASIL
so great five world cup titles
no one can compare to the buety the brazilians put on the pitch everytime they step foot on the turf. they most definetely will take the confederations cup because they are a top class team that holds the power to win every game they go into they are on top of the world and now going into the semi finals after the great win over italy they are facing south africa and will definetely win proceding to the final and hopefully will win there too GO BRASIL!!!!!!
I'd have to say Egypt!

Posted by: MD at June 21, 2009 8:11 PM100% Italy. I know they'll win cause a magical enchanted dragon told me so. And when they win, me and the dragon will be so happy cause the dragon made a bet with a pinguin that Italy would win. They're all vegan, i'm sure that money that was one will be donated to PETA and ASPCA to protect the pinguins and other animals of the world
Posted by: Grace at June 21, 2009 8:44 PMSpain! they have 15 consecutive victories (a new record), and 1 win away from being unbeaten in 36 consecutive matches (another record!) They're young, talented, humble, and actually play as a team instead of relying on a player(s). Besides they're taking the World Cup next year anyway!
La Furia Roja! ^_^
Posted by: Serge at June 21, 2009 9:53 PMI think Egypt should win! I didn't even know Egypt had a soccer team until recently, I think they need a little more recognition! I also think the soccer ball is super sweet!
Posted by: Melanie at June 21, 2009 11:54 PMESPANA!!!!
Spain is going to kick butt in this tournament! They have the best collection of players, plus their entire bench is just as talented as the starters. They also have the most heart in drive in them. The footballers play with such a passion and a want for the win, and their country. Spain's individual players are outstanding. Iker Castillas is a very hard captain, always expecting the most out of his team and always giving the same out of himself in return. Puyol is like a rock in the back...he is indestructable. He can play any of the defensive positions and he plays them well. Sergio Ramos plays with such drive and passion for the game - its very entertaining to watch. The midfield can connect with each other instantaneously. Its almost as if they can sense where everyone is at all times. Fernando Torres and David Villa up top are obviously funamental. They can create the goals out of no opportunity. The bench is also extremely talented - Fernando Llorente scored a goal against South Africa as a sub, et cetera. Plus, they havent kept the same lineup in any of the first three games.
In the end, Spain has everything - the talent, the drive, the passion, the team moral. They possess everything needed to win the Confederations Cup ( and the World Cup?). After all, they arent ranked #1 in the world for nothing.
Go Espana!
Posted by: Beth at June 22, 2009 12:00 AMUSA,USA,go USA! I really don't know alot about sports but I must cheer for my country and I do watch [some] sports.. thanks...
Posted by: Della at June 22, 2009 12:23 AMNew Zealand, because their country is beautiful.
Posted by: Luke Frazier at June 22, 2009 12:46 AMI want PORTUGAL to win, because Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aviero is the most amazing footballer in the world!
Everyone on the team is insanely talented and they haven't won in AGES!
SO THEY DESERVE TO WIN!
I was quite the fanatic in 2006 and watched every single game, but Portugal just has the best all around players, for sure!
The Portuguese team came in 4th place at the 2006 World Cup, which was devistating to get so close to winning, but I know that they can win!!!!!
And they better do it in 2010!!!! [:
Brazil Brazil Brazil!!!!! Because simply put they are just awesome!
Posted by: Jordi Springer at June 22, 2009 2:38 AMWhich ever team is willing to consider to support fair trade/animal friendly products: that's the team I want to win!
Posted by: Kris at June 22, 2009 4:26 AMI believe that Iraq winning would prove so much to so many people. Following the war in their country and the destruction of many thousands of precious lives, it is so important that the people of Iraq are given the chance to stand on their own feet again, and prove that they are worth something.
Brazil are recognised globally for their soccer - they've won the world cup five times! Surely it's time for the underdogs to make their presence known to the world. Winning would bring a lot of money into a recovering country - improving the standard of living of all the people and the animals they live with. After all, isn't that "Respect"?
Posted by: Amy at June 22, 2009 8:40 AMgreat prize
Posted by: Bonnie at June 22, 2009 9:35 AMSpain, ftw! Haha, mostly because a friend of mine hates Spain('s soccer team). And he's yelling at me right now! :D
(But I really am pulling for Spain!! :p)
Posted by: at June 22, 2009 10:40 AMMy nine year old cousin is a HUGE soccer fan. When I saw this ball, I knew I had to try to get it for her. She is a soccer player herself, so I asked her which team she was pulling for. She said New Zealand all the way. She really loves their forward, Chris Wood because he is the youngest player, has the same number, the same last name, and plays the same position. This would totally rock her whole world!
Posted by: at June 22, 2009 11:25 AMI definitely think that Spain has a really good chance of winning this year. They play the U.S in the Semi-finals and, even as an American, I feel that they will beat the U.S and go on to beat Brazil too.
Posted by: at June 22, 2009 4:21 PMNew Zealand just because i want to be different
Posted by: Brenda Callahan at June 22, 2009 5:02 PMDenmark is not in it, so I don't really have a favorite among the others.
Posted by: John Rasmussen at June 22, 2009 5:35 PMI want Brazil to win!!! I am a huge fan of brazil and Im pretty sure they will be the only ones representing South America!!!! Since Im peruvian and They wont go for sure , I want Brazil to show the world how good they still are... and that this time the world cup will be going back to south america!!! (the best)
Posted by: at June 22, 2009 11:05 PMSouth Africa! Why? I'm 19, and I've played soccer since I was 6 years old. My best memories were those spent playing for my school, from 8t-10th grade. When I was in 8th grade there was no girls team, so I had to play with the guys, along with my friend Kirsti. Her dad was the coach, and when we were in 10th grade, with our pressing of the matter, he offered to coach a girl's team. So for three years while I remained in High School he was our coach, and by far the best coach I've ever met. He was born and raised in South Africa, and infuses his skills of the game into his coaching. But he coaches with love and respect, and teaches all his players how to play with dignity and not play dirty. He leads Christian soccer camps all across the world, and teaches kids all the fundamentals of the game, plus some fun moves. I always cheer for SA in honor of he and his amazing family.
Posted by: at June 23, 2009 12:06 AMi dont really mind who wins as long as its a good entertaining game.i also think that its soo great that there are vegan soccer balls now because its no fun kicking around the skin of a dead animal.
Posted by: april at June 23, 2009 3:56 AMI would like USA to win because I am from america and I believe in our country.
But They have a low risk at winning..
Either way they are a great team, they try hard, and win or lose they still played and I will still enjoy watching them.
As their coach Bob Bradley said, “Every team arrives at the Confederations Cup or the World Cup with high hopes, and usually it doesn’t always just go your way.”
So I hope whatever team wins, deserves it.
I dont really mind who wins, just that italy already had their glory and the USA needs to do well. Not win per say just do well.
So, Good Luck Everybody
Posted by: at June 23, 2009 11:01 AMI think Brazil should win, any team that beats the world champions by 3:0 and has so much skill and depth definitely deserves to win the tournament, also they are always the best to watch because of how smoothly they play and how they connect everything.
Posted by: Igor at June 23, 2009 11:32 AMTeam USA!
Posted by: jennifer at June 23, 2009 7:09 PMI would love to see Italy win, thanks for the fun giveaway!

Posted by: at June 23, 2009 7:35 PMItaly :)
Posted by: Chuck Nichols at June 24, 2009 12:59 AMSouth Africa would be a great team to see in the finals. I would also like to see Spain lose to USA to maybe regain some hunger for playing international matches. Spain seems like they are just going to show up and win. Final winner should be South Africa. They play with more heart and joy for the game.

Why because they need to win something!
and people dont know that there is a soccer team there! most importantly that they bet italy in they 2009 world cup qualifier.
That soccer ball looks sooo damn good! i desserve it i play soccer and i am a vegan!
I VOTE Erm, HOPE FOR SPAIN!!!
Because, they have the drive and skills to win. Not just because I have family in Spain and speak Spanish, but because they are willing to fight for animals, too. Spain recently gave Apes rights. Also they are one of the countries that don't test their products on animals by LAW. Spain has a strict animal protection law. Also, pets are considered family in Spain so there are very few pets that are homeless because Spaniards care well for their animals. And lastly, animals are enjoyed and welcomed into the lives of Spaniards. Plus, Spain works together and has alot of talent and is capibible and worthy of doing their job. GO SPAIN!!!
Any team winning would be fine with me. I love this soccer ball
Posted by: Cindy at June 24, 2009 11:50 AMi think iraq should win bcuz of all the hardship they r going through in iraq plus all the hardwork 2 break the sterotype that comes from being from the middleeast ..thats why they keep playing 2 gain the respect of others when it was lost due to the fighting plus they are respectful 2 pigs since they dont eat pork or seafood like lobtstor and shrimp which i think isgreat ...they fight 4 respect and give respect they deserve 2 win this
Posted by: razia at June 24, 2009 3:06 PMI think Iraq should win.Even though theres a horrible war going on in Iraq, if they won that would give hope to the people.

I can't lie, I say this mostly because Italian guys are so dreamy =)

Posted by: at June 25, 2009 3:06 AMPersonally i dont really care which team wins but id like to comment anyway saying that this is actually a great way to get people intrested free stuff on fridays (Y)
and ive always hated that animals are used in sports materials in footballs and "Pig Skins" (basketballs) so yeah good luck to all teams and good luck to all you who commented i know id love this prize.

I want the USA to win cause they are my hometeam.
Posted by: Erma at June 25, 2009 6:40 AMI think that USA should win.
I feel like we have so many sports like basketball, football, and baseball that get alot more hype than soccer does. And I know that the US mens team works so hard, they should win.
I hope the USA team wins since I always root for my hometown team.
Posted by: theodore esteghamat at June 25, 2009 9:07 PMI would love for the US to win. We are the home of PETA
Posted by: Jessica at June 25, 2009 10:02 PMI want the USA team to win because, well, underdogs are cool.
Posted by: Julie K at June 25, 2009 10:35 PMGOD BLESS AMERICA!
i mean we're not one of the top teams but gosh, if at teh good foreigners like david beckham move here than we've git a chance, idk why they would wanna play in a country where football (soccer) isnt that popular, but . GO USA!
Posted by: at June 25, 2009 11:39 PMI would like the US to win. Why not?
Posted by: Denise at June 26, 2009 12:29 AMI really want USA to win of course beacause thats my hometeam :)
but it doesnt matter as long as everyone had fun
Go team USA! After beating Spain, it'd be a great boost before the World Cup 2010!

Posted by: Gianna at June 26, 2009 12:37 PMThe New Zealand team would be cool because they travel such a long way to play
Posted by: DanV at June 26, 2009 4:03 PMusa! mostly because once again american samoa doesn't seem to have much of a chance.
Posted by: christopher h at June 26, 2009 5:09 PMI want South Africa to win because they are such a young team and have had some up and down results.
Posted by: Timothy Sternberg at June 26, 2009 5:42 PMUSA-because it is the USA.
Posted by: Donna K at June 27, 2009 2:29 AM+ All the teams can be the best (Brazil, Spain, Italy, South Africa, Egypt, Iraq, New Zealand, USA) so yeah I can't really choose. LOL. kidding, why not Egypt huh? xD
Posted by: Gimarrey at June 27, 2009 4:22 AMi want italy to win. ive played soccer for almost 13 years now and theyve always been my favorite team. i love PETA organizations because it gives me the chance to express how much i love animals. ive been a vegetarian for almost 2 years now and it was the best decision ive ever made in my life. im almost 15 and i plan on staying vegetarian for the rest of my life. i have so much respect for PETA because you guys help save animals. i got my inspiration from PETA. i really wanna win this soccer ball, but at the same time, i think exspressing my feelings about how much i love animals is enough. thankyou so much. sincerely, kourtnie.
Posted by: at June 28, 2009 11:15 AMWho won?
Posted by: at June 30, 2009 7:53 AMUSA all the way
i mean think about it i live in the U.S so what would be the best reason than to go all out for the home team.Besides ive been watchin them and to me they did an outstandin job so far. They're strong in defense and efficient in the offence.Sam Cronin is my role model...he is from north carolina like me and he plays for the USA..i hope to one day become like him..i have only been playin soccer for 3 years but i have known for a long time that i have wanted to go pro in sports. so thats pretty much why i want the USA to take home this years Confederations Cup..
GO USA!!!
id say iraq because its my origin country and theyre a really good team, strong, fast, and there not agressive players and they play fair or i can say brazil man they rock, also strong, fast and etc....
Posted by: Ashur at July 18, 2009 5:28 PMout of those 8 teams i really think South Africa deserves a chance to win at least this cup for the reason most of the other teams have already won other cups. Also South africa is a team with really good running skillsz . They are fair players, even though im american i think usa has enough won cups.

because it looks like they really really want to win.
Netherlands! OR Italy!
Both countries are environmentally friendly. I really dont care if I win, I just want to share my opinion.

I want South Africa to win because they are such a young team and have had some up and down results. I think they are a truly talented team and need this win to regain confidence in themselves. One of the best aspects of this team is that they actually still play for their country, thus winning in their homeland would be the best comeback imaginable for this team.
