UK: It's National Veggie Week! May 18, 2009

In the UK, National Veggie Week is May 18th through May 24th! Yeah, we know it isn't as exciting as some other animal friendly holidays (Hug a Vegetarian Day, anyone?), but any reason to celebrate not eating animals is a good one!

If you still haven't committed to going veg, isn't it the perfect time? I think I know a few billion animals who'd agree. You can start off easy with our seven day pledge to be veg!

If you need to be reminded that there's seriously something wrong with the way we treat animals (other than the fact that thousands of cows, chickens, pigs and other animals will be killed by the time you finish reading this blog) it doesn't take much research.

I can't think of one day where I'm not thankful that I'm vegan. Why? On top of factory farming being literally sickening, and the number one cause of global warming, it's also absolutely cruel. Another reason? Check out that picture of the cute cow you've no doubt been "aww"-ing over since you opened this blog. See that yellow tag on his ear? Looks a whole lot like the ones these guys have on, doesn't it?

So, this week, whether you're in the UK or not, take our seven day pledge to be veg! And if you're already flesh-free, go vegan! Make sure you let us know how much you love it!
