Contest Free Stuff Friday sea kitten plush toy
Ever wonder if fish feel pain? Or if they're as smart as other animals? Well listen up! Fish have fully developed brains and nervous systems, so of course they feel pain. And, when it comes to smarts, these guys are a force to be reckoned with. Did you know they can retain information they learned up to 11 months earlier? I can't even do that! And they don't just use their tongues to catch food they use them to build nests for their babies and shield them from danger. Fish even experience fear the same way humans do, with increased heart rates and bursts of adrenalin. Even more amazing is that some fish actually enjoy being pet. Yes, pet ... Like you pet your cat. That's why we've created Sammy the Sea Kitten.
Sammy comes fashioned with removable kitten mask and mittens, reminding us that fish have feelings just like those adorable land kittens. And if you wouldn't eat a kitty cat, how can you think about eating a sea kitten?
This week, we're giving you the chance to win our Sammy the Sea Kitten plush toy, along with our peta2 'Save the Sea Kittens!' booklet, complete with leaflets and stickers, to help spread the word to all your friends and family about sea kittens.
To enter for your chance to win, comment below with which species of sea kitten you'd like to see added next to our Create Your Own Sea Kitten game (we just recently added Mahi Mahi, Swordfish, and Anchovy). The five people with the most creative entries will be chosen as our winners and notified by May 26th.
Just so you know ... by commenting here, you're acknowledging that you've read and agreed to our privacy policy.
Also by commenting, you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions.
And, when you're done entering the contest, click here to start creating your very own Sea Kitten.
GOOD LUCK!

Posted by: Salena Gomez at May 15, 2009 10:30 AMThe alaskan pollock. :)
Posted by: Pepsi One is Fun at May 15, 2009 10:32 AMI would like to see a shark for two reasons:
1. Shark fin soup! It’s horrible how they make it!
And 2., sharks have been stereotyped as evil monsters! If someone were to turn them into a cute Sea Kitten, maybe people would realize that they’re not horrible beasts.
Plus sharks are cute close up :]
im not sure if you have these.. but ;
Angelfish
Butterfly Fish
Clown Fish
Tilapia, :]. My mom eats tilapia all of the time. I'd love to be able to send her one, maybe I could convince her to go veg. You could also add a clown fish!
:D
Baleen whale! or Dolphin.
Posted by: Paige at May 15, 2009 11:44 AMMaybe a karp....because with how many of those some people I know eat....well its really disgusting and would like to see something good made of their kind.
Posted by: at May 15, 2009 11:50 AMA salmon that is in the position of jumping would be really cool looking.
Posted by: Peter at May 15, 2009 11:52 AMHow about an Angler fish or a Puffer fish! Why? Ugly fish need love too!
Heh!
Posted by: Pablo at May 15, 2009 12:02 PMi would love to see a baby shark, they're so cute!!
Posted by: Little Vampire at May 15, 2009 12:10 PMCalamari
Posted by: Kate at May 15, 2009 12:19 PMI think a line of "game-fish" would be neat.
Like Muskie, Rainbow Trout and Largemouth Bass.
Possibly Pickerel and Halibut.
I would love to see a plush squid and shrimp...maybe even some shellfishies!
Posted by: Vanessa at May 15, 2009 12:21 PMI'd suggest a Scorpion Fish!
Posted by: Liron at May 15, 2009 12:24 PMAn angelfish! And definately a goldfish or a beta fish, since they're kept as pets so often. Also, a LIONFISH or a PUFFERFISH! Those are so cool-looking.
Also, this study leads me to think that a a toadfish might be good for educational purposes:
"Experiments done by William Tavolga provide evidence that fish have pain and fear responses. For instance, in Tavolga’s experiments, toadfish grunted when electrically shocked and over time they came to grunt at the mere sight of an electrode.[39] Additional tests conducted at both the University of Edinburgh and the Roslin Institute, in which bee venom and acetic acid was injected into the lips of rainbow trout, resulted in fish rubbing their lips along the sides and floors of their tanks, which the researchers believe was an effort to relieve themselves of pain.[40] One researcher argues about the definition of pain used in the studies.[41]
Animal protection advocates have raised concerns about the possible suffering of fish caused by angling. In light of recent research, some countries, like Germany, have banned specific types of fishing and the British RSPCA now formally prosecutes individuals who are cruel to fish.[42]" --From Wikipedia under the entry "fish" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fish)
Something to think about!!
Posted by: Div at May 15, 2009 12:25 PMHalibut, Tilapia or John Dory would be my choice!
Posted by: Timothy Sternberg at May 15, 2009 12:26 PMI'm going with a Marlin and a Sailfish.
They both have very distinctive features and would be adorable additions for the game!!
Piranhas :) or clownfish
Posted by: Rebecca Monaco at May 15, 2009 12:32 PMhumuhumunukunukuapua'a
--the state fish of Hawaii!
I think a sea kitten lobster version would be great...pinchers included fo' sure....and a sea kitten shark since they are hunted so mercilessly. I happen to like sharks but perhaps if they were fuzzy and cute more people would respect them and not merely cut off what they "need" while leaving the injured shark to die...
Posted by: Maggie at May 15, 2009 12:36 PMPuffer (although most wouldn't dare...)
Barracuda
Tilapia
Bass
Haddock
Catfish?!
Anglerfish (bioluminescence!)
=)
i would love to see nemo from finding NEMO!
Posted by: Anna at May 15, 2009 12:42 PMI would like to see maybe tropical fish, or angel fish. They are so beautiful! Also maybe a shrimp. They are so cute, and it's so sad that so many people enjoy eating shrimp, and it's such a popular sea food... :(
Posted by: Trish at May 15, 2009 12:43 PMHammerhead shark! Or piranha! Or sunfish!
Posted by: Marissa at May 15, 2009 12:43 PMI'd say... a "Hemibagrus Wyckioides". They're awesome and huge. =] My biology teacher is an expert fisher and went over-seas and caught one. They remind me of Chinese dragons, sorta.
Posted by: BREE BREE Don't Cut This Pig at May 15, 2009 12:45 PMI'd say a puffer fish, because they're good at getting revenge on those who try to consume them. I mean, it's not fair that people have to try to eat them, but at least some people don't live to tell the tale.
Posted by: Ray at May 15, 2009 1:01 PMI'd love to see a Betta fish--although they aren't eaten, too many people force male betta fish to fight for their own entertainment. This treatment is cruel, and adding a Betta fish to the game would make people think twice about making their fish fight another.
As far as edible fish are concerned, I would include
-octopus (they're often compared to dogs for their intelligence and personalities)
-Grouper
-Red Snapper
Both grouper and red snapper are being over-fished, and this is having a significant effect on their surrounding eco-systems. They're both beautiful looking fish, and they could be gone in a number of years at the rate they're currently being fished!
I think a clownfish would be cute. ^^
Posted by: Sally at May 15, 2009 1:04 PMI like Macrel, puffer fishies, angel fishies, and seahorses. I also really like lionfish, and my favorite...GOURAMIS! :D
Posted by: Hilary at May 15, 2009 1:06 PMCatFish because they truly are water kittens! Theyre one of the most fished for in the u.s. just for fun and game!!
Posted by: courtney chafin at May 15, 2009 1:07 PMBottle Nosed Dolphin or Clown Fish =)
Posted by: Steffi Thake at May 15, 2009 1:11 PMI would love to see sturgeons added to the list even though I'm not sure if they are ea fish, but I know they get killed A LOT around my area. I would actually love to see a less liked fish added, like a barracuda!! They are made to look evil in movies like Finding Nemo and the aren't really, they're just doing what they need to to survive. OH AND Blue sharks. In Canada they get caught and have their fins cut off for soup and then are thrown back in the water.
I think I'm going to go with barracudas and blue sharks as my final decision. They should definitely be added to the list just because of how misunderstood they are.
:]
Posted by: Chelsea Ursel at May 15, 2009 1:18 PMI would love to see a whale shark! Not only are these fish beautiful and majestic, they are endangered!
Posted by: Janelle Bauer at May 15, 2009 1:21 PMred parrot fish can't resist the cuties!!
Posted by: maxine b at May 15, 2009 1:23 PMI would say lobsters. I always feel so bad when I see them in tanks at restaurants, only to get thrown headfirst in boiling water.
Posted by: Diana at May 15, 2009 1:32 PMSeahorse!
Posted by: Lena at May 15, 2009 1:32 PMA shrimp. That would simply be ADORABLE!
Or a clownfish! ;P
Since it's the edible fish we need to protect I would go with Red Snapper, Grouper, Cod, or Pomfret (eaten regularly throughout Asia).
Posted by: MC Coppage at May 15, 2009 1:46 PMSquid,!
Ooor
A Sting ray
or
Pompano (just cause he has a cool name )
A jellyfish, starfish, seahorse or clown fish! :)
Posted by: Pembe at May 15, 2009 1:56 PMa koi carp, Nemo (clownfishy), angelfishies, or pufferfishies :)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f2/Psychedelic_frogfish_08Am7A1b.jpg
Posted by: Phillip Chuzhbinin at May 15, 2009 2:05 PMRainbow fish!
Posted by: Lisa Berlangero at May 15, 2009 2:06 PMYou should do a Roosterfish! because a lot of people eat them so its relevant but theyre also beautiful fishes so they would look great in the game and are very recognisable :)
Posted by: Carmen Galadriel at May 15, 2009 2:07 PMadd some salmon, that'd be cute, that and maybe a swordfish. :)
Posted by: Helen Garber at May 15, 2009 2:18 PMPerhaps a dolphin which get caught up in the nets when sea fishing. or maybe a Cod, :)
Posted by: Lucie wright at May 15, 2009 2:23 PMI think the Venustus Pygmy Angel and Achilles Tang are both phenomenal looking fish and would be a good addition.

Posted by: Jennie Backman at May 15, 2009 2:37 PMHow about a largehead hairtail?
It's got an awesome tail,
and it's got the coolest mohawk I've ever seen.
:]
So, as a washingtonian I am particularly fond of salmon, out of 150,000,000 eggs harvested in estuaries, only 100,000 salmon are born...70,000 of these are caught(people are omega 3 happy right now) Also, what about herring? it"s the worlds most eaten fish...infants are used in ceasar salads!!!and last the poor pollock, fish sticks anyone??? It is one of the most overfished species...2.2 million tons caught per year!!!
Posted by: shannon riley at May 15, 2009 2:40 PMjellyfish and koi fish=]
I would love to see a "giant sea bass" plush because not only would it make a statement about eating fish but it would also make a great pillow!
Posted by: Joellen at May 15, 2009 3:04 PMMola Mola
Guppy
flounder :)
Posted by: amanda tink at May 15, 2009 3:19 PMclown fish !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love Sea Kittens....
My entries are
- Blow fish
-Angel fish
-Clow fish
I love all three but if im only allowed to enter one i pick the blowfish.
These fish are all cute and adorable for the sea kitten game
I think it would be cool to work on getting some sea kittens made from fish such as:
Tuna
Bass
Bluegill
Carp
Koi [BEAUTIFUL fish!]
Eel
Trout
Perch
Salmon
Sea Bass
Shad
Butterflyfish
Dwarf Angels
Mackerel [weird name but they're cute!]
Shark [hammerhead, nurse, great white (this one would be ADORABLE)]
-P.S. Sharks are seen as big, ferocious, mean animals that kill people just because. They don't, and actually prefer NOT to eat people. They just see someone flopping around or on a board and if hungry enough, attack.
Posted by: Fala Givens at May 15, 2009 3:41 PMi think it would be cool to add sea creatures other than fish because people eat other sea creatures too, like an octopus for calamari, or lobster, or a crab.
Posted by: elena kilcullen at May 15, 2009 3:44 PMHmmm, perhaps a pufferfish? :)
Posted by: Suki at May 15, 2009 3:47 PMAngler fish, or Goliath grouper!!
Posted by: at May 15, 2009 3:47 PMi'd like to see a clown fish.... and accessories for a clown... like the big red nose, curly rainbow hair and makeup!
Posted by: Cassandra at May 15, 2009 3:53 PMHere are some cool fishes I'd love to see in the Sea Kitten game: pufferfish, angelfish, beardfish, clownfish, jelly fish (just kidding?), koi, or velvetfish. :)
Posted by: Jennifer L at May 15, 2009 4:17 PMCuttlefish! Those things are so freaking cool! The can change size, shape, and color! They're amazing!

A sword fish or shark =)
Posted by: Li-Anne at May 15, 2009 5:29 PMShrimp, Octopus, Rainbow Trout, X-Ray Fish (You could have a fish with a hurt heart since people eat him) Blowfish, Lion Fish (Dressed like a lion) JellyFish!!
I hope I win! I don't win anything ever :(
AND I LOVE SEAKITTENS!
Hey, I think you guys should do a Blue Gill Sunfish! They're pretty. Or maybe you could do a less scary version of a Viper fish.
:)
Cod should be added! It may not be the coolest fish, but its what they use for fish and chips. Its a good idea because with fish and chips it can be hard to picture that you are eating a fish because its battered and deep fried.
Posted by: Rebecca at May 15, 2009 5:46 PMLibby the Lobster or Harry the Halibut?
Posted by: Courtney C at May 15, 2009 5:50 PMHow about a dragonfish? Sure, they're kinda...hideous, but even the ugly ones need some lovin' D:
Posted by: Mike at May 15, 2009 6:00 PMI would truly love to see an Angelfish in the mix.
Posted by: Taylor at May 15, 2009 6:01 PMMy favorite fish name ever would have to be the Crappie. I found a picture of one when I was a museum in Mississippi. They aren't ugly, they just have the worst name ever.
... or an Algae Eater. They're just awesome
Posted by: Tricia at May 15, 2009 6:03 PMTrying to think of the types of fish I see on the local menus... as making a 'seakitten' out of those would drive home the point a little better than a fish no one has ever heard of...
Grouper
Eel
Snapper (Red or Yellowtail)
Butterfish
Orange Roughy
Mahalo! Trish
Cichlids
Africans
Discus
Flowerhorn
Angelfish
Oscar
Koi
Molly
Tetra
Killifish
Tang
Wrasse
Albinos
A Cichlid.
but, mainly the rare, new species,
Ptychochromis loisellei.
I think they're cool.
Mimi Trout, Henry Clown fish, Clarissa Carp, Surgeon Dog fish, Baily Bass, Sophia sun fish. Or, Angela Angel Fish? :)
Posted by: Katie at May 15, 2009 6:23 PMA musky. yes, here in my hometown, we have a giant musky. There's stairs inside of it and everything. A lot of people go musky fishing, there's competitions and everything because it's the biggest fish in our lakes. It's so sad! Turn it into a seakitten!!
Posted by: Marika at May 15, 2009 8:07 PMSiamese Fighting Fish orrr how about...(IF possible) a 3-eyed fish that's simliar to Blinky from the simpsons?

Posted by: Sydney at May 15, 2009 10:22 PMBLUE GILL!!! Definately
Posted by: Jordon at May 15, 2009 10:35 PMWell how about a catfish...lol
here are my other suggestions:
Parrot Fish --like a sea kitten..except more like bird! haha! [I think they're beautiful...especially the aqua and hotpink one! google that!]
-Sea Horse ...another fish that also has another animal name! I can't believe no one has said it yet..it's considered to be the dog of the sea! even though it's named "horse" :P
All I've got for now, I hope I win--never have!
God bless :]
A cat-fish. Like, a part cat, part fish catfish.
Posted by: Jessica at May 15, 2009 11:30 PMWould a cat fish be redundant?
Posted by: Brittany Abstract at May 15, 2009 11:48 PMa clownfish because they are soo cute...
it could be called kittyclown fish!!!!
: )
I'd say goldfish as they are so often victims of abuse at fairgrounds etc
Posted by: amy at May 16, 2009 4:18 AMI think it would be cool to see some not-so-fishy seacreatures. Like an octopus, a crab(like Sebastion! He's so cute!), a blue whale, an orca, a killer whale, a starfish, a seahorse, a clam, a sea otter, a sea turtle, or a mermaid (hey, why not?). Also, it would spark some interest if you had the option to change the colors of your fish and some of it's accessories, or the option to make your fish a boy or girl. Hope these help!! :)
Posted by: Erin at May 16, 2009 7:50 AMWow! the people who have already entered have some great ideas...I would suggest first fish that are common and people would recognize...the angelfish would be really pretty...I like the lobster idea because it is a fish that is eaten.

Tuna- that would be cool, since soooo many people eat tuna!!
I think halibit, cod, or tuna.
I think we should do one of those cute little fishes because they are the main fish people eat and we could continue getting the word out.
(:
Dolphie Dolphine! :D
-Bass
-Cod
-Dogfish
-Tuna
cod

Posted by: Amanda at May 16, 2009 1:53 PMHow about a ghost piperfish, since people hardly know about them, and many people hardly know about fish in general.
My personal favorite is the shortfin lionfish, because its beautiful, exotic, and dangerous.
Tilapia or Golden Pristella Tetra. :)
Posted by: Zanub at May 16, 2009 3:30 PMCLOWNFISH
because Nemo is my bffl
a catfish is the obvious one because it like two animals in one :) & you could do so much with it!
angelfish because you could do alot with this one too.
clownfish another good one.
all of these fish would be perfect 'cause you could do alot like when you decorate it.imagine making a catfish with things like balls of yarn or a clownfish with a clown nose or an angelfish with angel wings or halo.that'd be awesome :)
Posted by: karina at May 16, 2009 5:00 PMjellyfish or hammerhead

not only are they naturally beautiful but you can decorate these fishes really beautifully.to make them even better then they all ready are!!!!
Posted by: aileen at May 16, 2009 6:32 PMClownfish, and maybe include a reference to a certain film with it! ;)
Posted by: Dave at May 16, 2009 8:08 PMI think it would be cool to have a barracuda- not only is it a sweet car, but it is an awesome song by Heart!!
Also, a Whale Shark because the name does not do justuce to the gentle giants that they are.
I would like to adopt a pufferfish/hamster hybrid sea kitten that has puffy cheeks, drinks for an underwater waterbottle, and had dozens of babies at a time.
Posted by: Lindsey at May 16, 2009 8:34 PMNarwhal!! Ooh they are my favorites!!! Sooooo cute! :) :) :)

Posted by: april at May 16, 2009 9:59 PMMahi Mahi
Posted by: Martha Crutchfield at May 16, 2009 10:16 PMWhere I live, and in surrounding states and all over the U.S., I know for a fact that people kill Blue Gill in their back-yard ponds. They aren't small back-yard pond fish and people don't understand that when they get them. Instead they skim their pond wich the fish nets and throw the fish out of the pond so they can bake in the 90*F sun ALIVE!
Then there is fish factories, which there is quite a few around where I live, where Bass are raised. They are raised in disgusting water where they don't clean it like they should, instead they bring in another species of fish and let them eat the Bass' feces and filth. Many back-yard ponds have these too and they are NEVER released where I live; they are always killed. I can remember going camping and the people next to us caught a bunch of them and (while they were alive) took shovels to take out their eyes and take off their scales! I was so discusted!
Sardindes are packaged and canned every day. A lot of them are proubly factory farmed.... should I say any more?
Goldfish! This is speaking for all of the fish adopted from petstores that are thought as of "cheap replaceable" pets. I know that the kitten fish is basicly about not eating fish, but I think it should also be about how fish aren't just replaceable pets. Where as, people have heard of Betta fish, Cichlids, and so on so forth, but those are not the $0.18 fish that you can get at Wal-Mart. Bettas and Cichlids, but their also not the the fish that you see in the bags of water at your County fair. So, what I'm trying to get at with the Goldfish is that they are the most well known pet-store fish and pet fish are thought of as "cheap and replacable".
Now, I had to narrow my list of 100s and 100s of fish down to four. I love my fish and they are the pet-store rescues. They were given to me free from the pet-stores when I seen them almost dead and was about to be flushed down their sink. Then we have a pond with Blue Gill, Perch, Bass (large mouth & rock), Yeller-Bellies, Goldfish, and Cat Fish. I love my pond fish dearly too, no matter how nutty it sounds because I have no idea how many is out there.
Posted by: Emily at May 16, 2009 11:11 PMA Angel fish would be neat!
Posted by: Deb K at May 16, 2009 11:23 PMShark and Clown Fish.

I think that you should add a baby Blowfish, or a Cowfish, or a its a mouse lemur fish
http://www.pattybrdarphoto.com/EmailPhotos/FunnyFishLarge.jpg
halibut, eel, red snapper
Posted by: melanie at May 17, 2009 12:08 AMBASS: A regular factory farm fish. They are everywhere where I live (AND EVERYWHERE IN THE U.S. TOO) ... in the factory farms and the backyard ponds.
BLUE GILL: A regular pond fish all across America that is greatly abused where I live. Many people take them the babies out of the water (while they are still alive) and let them die a horrible, painful death in 90*F sun. These are not small pond fish and that is the only type of pond most people have.
GOLDFISH: The most common abused fish. They are thought of as "cheap and replaceable". Of course there is many other types of pet-store fish, but this is the most common. These are the $0.18 Wal-Mart fish that people take advantage of. They are also the fish that you see at the count fair in the bag of water, half dead from all of the stress put on them.
LOBSTER: HELLO! It probably hurts to be boiled ALIVE!
CRAB: I wouldn't want my legs ripped off... WOULD YOU?!
__________________________________________________
I am a fish lover... I admit it, LoL! My dad has a pond with pond fish but we do not fish and we do not let anybody fish there. Then, I have a two year old male betta and a seven + year old fan-tail goldfish. So, you can imagine I fight for their rights! I had gotten them both free from pet-stores that they were still alive but they was going to dump them in their sinks to die because they was too sick. They are the most beautiful fish ever now!
There is a fish factory farm over by where I live and I can rember my uncle going in and taking a tour and I was terrified because of the stench and the filthy waters. They even had a fish holding tank! Not an aqurium, these tanks are the ones that you'd normaly keep chemicals in from factories.
My other uncle is a HUGE fisherman. He goes out fishing and when he catches a fish, he takes out his shovel and digs their eyes out and immediatly skins their scales off. Then he throws them in a cooler full of ice... Now, let me mind you that they are still alive when he does this.
So, you can imagine how much I hate my uncles. A fish is a fish and they can't feel pain to them. I am a fish right supporter all the way!

I think it's funny how you added in here that fish like to be pet, because when I was younger, I used to put my finger at the top of the fish bowl and they would swim up to my finger so that I could pet them. This just reminded me of that.

Lord Howe Coralfish
Swordfish
Posted by: Linda Chaput at May 17, 2009 10:49 PMI like to see someone a Scuptured Frogfish. Although they are no in somes opinion the most asthetically appealing fish for this game, the point of a veg*n lifesytle is to put an end to the suffering of the meek, regardless of their appearance. I don't pratically find chickens to be beautiful or cute and cuddle, but learning have they are kill and the lives they endure is what made me go veggie.
Posted by: Erin at May 18, 2009 12:48 AMI know shellfish aren't technically fish, but I think adding lobsters, crabs, clams etc to this collection could be very adorable and even more conscious raising.
When it comes to just fish, I think catfish are a great idea because they are already kitties! Also, Sailfish and Bonito, both deepwater fishing victims, could be very effective, particularly because of the sailfish's amazing physical characteristics.
Bluegill are freshwater fish that I think are pretty cute, too.
My boyfriend loves eating salmon, so a Salmon.
My mom loves eating hake, so a Hake.
My dad loves eating tuna, so a Tuna.
And my sister and I are both vegans, so we would be happy with any fish: we would give love to all of them, no matter what their specie is!

Biotoecus opercularis esp. cuz they r so small and adorible!!!!!!!!
I definately think catfish would suit this campaign. also some other commonly eaten fish like halibut, cod, and why not lobsters and shrimp?
Shrimp would be cute. And starfish. and beautiful angel fish and betta fish BUT
crustaceans should count as kittens too. :):) .
I think catfish, shrimp, starfish and lobster would best suit this one. :):).
you know I actually saw on tv people eating deep friend starfish? gross.

Posted by: rippy8 at May 19, 2009 7:31 PMI think you should add a shark! They get a bad rep as being vicious and horrible when they haven't killed hardly anyone! And besides once you get past the scary teeth they are actually Adorable. Sharks also get eaten...which isn't nice. And guess what! over 75shark species are becoming EXTINCT! Sharks are truly sea kittens at heart =]

Or Clown fish :D
Hm, this is tricky. pretty much everyfish has been said. but what about those cute little sunfish? I mean, my brother is a cruel little boy! He simply adores fishing and so does my dad; they do it for the sport x[ and my brother is always catching sunfish, and it makes me cry when i have to go along because you see this tiny little fish that glitters in the sunlight wiggling in pain, and then tossed right back in to be lured in again.
So I nominate Sunfish, because they are little and cute and just plain abused.
And sheepheads. OMG. I pray that people do NOT catch them because when people do catch them, i guess your supposed to hold them by the tail and bang them against the side of your boat, until they die because they're bottom feeders. How UNFAIR is that?
So yes, Sunfish, and Sheepheads.
Because they are just abused and people need to know that even if they're too small or they dont eat the right things doesnt mean they have the right to kill and play with them.
Ugh. sick, im in tears.
Posted by: Morgan at May 20, 2009 8:46 PMI would like to see a Albino shark!
Posted by: Dan Rugg at May 21, 2009 12:41 AMA haddock!
My mom was having an argument- yes, an argument- with someone who runs the restaurant at her work today because the Vegetarian Meal was haddock omelet, and he flat-out tried to *convince* her that the omelet was vegetarian because vegetarians *do* eat fish- it's only vegans that don't!
this, o f course, was absurd
and a haddock sea kitten, I'm sure, would help him see the light!
a tiger shrimp or one of those scary lantern fish.
maybe a beta fish or a goldfish??? a rock fish!
I would say the Mino fish or any of the feeder fish out there. The most understated fishies. Guppy, the rosy red mino would be an excellent choice.
Posted by: Anu at May 21, 2009 2:26 PMSUCKERFISH!
they are killed without being eaten!
I know a lot of people who eat octopus and it's really sad because they're really amazing looking animals so I think that would be a cool animal to choose :) or maybe an alligator?

Posted by: Sam Kidd at May 25, 2009 9:45 PMThe Parrot Fish
They are beautiful fish. There is a large population in and around the Fijian islands. Last summer I went on a 10 day trip to an island in Fiji called Tavarua. It was beautiful and I loved it but I was shocked and saddened to see some natives carrying about a net full of parrot fish! they were the most beautiful fish i had ever seen and these people were destroying there population. I believe them to be a important fish to focus on saving. Not to mention they would look great for the game with all there gorgeous colors! So, SAVE THE PARROT FISH!:D

Deeo Sea Angler fish, or the Deep Sea Dragon, or the Gulper EEl you can make them so they glow so they make good night companion for little ones.

Posted by: Sand at May 26, 2009 9:03 PMI would love to see a goldish as your next seakitten. When I lived in the country my family had a huge pond stocked with goldfish. I miss watching them swim, it gave our family endless hours of pleasure.
Posted by: Linda Fast at May 26, 2009 9:06 PMI'd have to go with the Angler Fish, I love their little lights.
Or possibly bass or pike, because my dad lives on a lake and I always get in a row boat and go out to where the fish are and feed them bread. I'm sick of seeing my babies getting caught.
RAINBOW FISH!!

Posted by: gabby at June 14, 2009 1:43 PMi would use a angler fish, to light up the whole world of sea kittens and their playfulness!
Posted by: at June 17, 2009 1:11 PMIf I were to create more sea creatures I think I would make:
-Clownfish
-pufferfish
-catfish
-coi fish
-sawfish(because of the fact they are endangered)
-chinese paddlefish(endangered)
-clanwilliam redfin(endangered and only seen in 5 locations)
And if it were to be more of just any sea animal it should be:
-Manatee
-seal
-balooga whale
-killer whale
-silver shark(endangered)
I believe every fish and sea animal should be on this but this is just a select few of the most important. especially the endangered.
Thank you for your consideration C:
a shark (they are awesome and not evil)
a puffer fish (for them to be big)
a sea robin (they have big fins :D)
flying fish (they look like they have wings)
the siamese fighting fish.
my friend has one.
it's so beautiful and i've never seen one until she showed me her's.
Seeing a Mackerel, a 3 Bearded Rockling, a Ling, a Black Goby, a Pipe Fish, a Lesser Spotted Dogfish, and a Larger Spotted Dogfish/Nursehound would be great. These are the main targeted sea-fish and making them into Sea-kittens would enable us to send them to large companys to say..."look...what your doing is wrong and we all know it.Just Stop with this unfair treatment and killing of these poor defenceless fish"
