tofu vegetarian news ILVTOFU
A very kind woman in Colorado was shocked to find out that staff at her Department of Motor Vehicles is basically a bunch of prudes. The story, which is all over the news, is that she wants to get a license plate to show her support for healthy, humane, environmentally-friendly eating.

She decided to go with "ILVTOFU" which seems simple enough, right? Nope! They rejected her pretty much for being inappropriate! Can you believe that?
As you can see in this television report, the DMV thought some people may misread I-LV-TOFU as I-LV-TO-F-U. See the difference?
I understand the difference, but it's still totally ridiculous news. Let the woman have her license plate, will you please?!
What do you think? Should she be allowed to get a license plate expressing her love of animal-friendly tofu?

hahahaha thats ridiculous
Posted by: at April 9, 2009 11:46 AMHAHAHAHAHA! People are so stupid! Why would she put that (the F-U one) on her liscence plate? If it's really that big of a problem just change it to ILVSOY.
Posted by: Lizzy at April 9, 2009 1:06 PMlol that's hilarious
but i can sort of see where the company is coming from
Maybe she can go for a witty way to bypass the supposedly dirtyness of it by rewriting it to be:
ILUVTOEFU
Either way if the lady explained its the food then I don't see whats wrong with it so hopefully she will get her vanity licenses plate. :)
Posted by: Pepsi One is Fun at April 9, 2009 2:56 PMthat's f-ing hilarious! but there's standard license plates where the 3-letter part happens to say WTF, so what's wrong with this?
Posted by: at April 9, 2009 3:02 PMDUDE! I saw that on Fox News last night, thats a bunch of bull, but pretty funny what they thought about it. Its still not right they didn't let her.
:(
Wow, that's jokes.
All she wanted was a license plate saying I Love Tofu, and now it's found offensive. Geez...
I've seen a lot worse than I LV TO FU. Take license plates that have 666 on them. Tell me, how the F*** is THAT not offense? Yet I have seen a least 3 or 4 cars with 666 on them.
Give the woman her damn tofu!
what TWATS!
Posted by: at April 9, 2009 5:11 PMhonestly i see where the DMV is coming from. they have a lot of screened words and phrases for a reason. a friend of mine couldn't get a plate that said "punk rock" because "punk" was a screened word. It's annoying but serves a purpose. I agree with the other comment that said "ILVSOY"
it's inconvenient yes, but I can understand the DMV.
Lol! Why should it matter what she has on her license plate?
Posted by: Little_Lotte at April 9, 2009 5:30 PMMaybe she could put tofulver?
Posted by: Liz at April 9, 2009 6:19 PMI know the people who had it.
I've demoed with them before haha.
I want that license plate regardless of it being "inappropriate."
I think that this is totally ridiculous. Why is it that you cannot have ilvtofu but in florida you can get a tag that reads fukusa (fuk-usa)? We are trying to show that we vegg's are proud of our choices in life and that we pride ourselves on our outlooks and beliefs and we cannot have a simple tag, that we will be paying for, showing this? I think that this is total crap!!! I have a huge problem with this!!
Posted by: at April 9, 2009 6:45 PMMaybe we could get little symbols on our plates instead. like the Powered by tofu sticker.
Posted by: pet at April 9, 2009 8:14 PMHaha that was funny but I think that she should get some kind of way to say the same thing in a diff. way...
Posted by: Stephi at April 9, 2009 8:56 PMHahahah, thats way 2 stupid!:D
Posted by: AKsel at April 10, 2009 8:52 AMWow, that is just plain ridiculous! I mean I saw a liscence plate where I live that said "i (heart) tofu" so I think that is CRAP
Posted by: leslie at April 10, 2009 11:57 AMAll I can say is, it's their own fault for being pervs :D just remove the hyphen and let her have her darn license plate!
By the way "666" is not offensive. There is no reason why Satanists or people who happen to like the number have to take CHRISTIANS or other religions into consideration when they post their beliefs. That, my friend, is called "freedom of religion" :)
Posted by: Marcela at April 10, 2009 2:08 PMmaybe she could get ILUVVEG instead
Posted by: Lottiee at April 12, 2009 12:35 PMonly someone with a dirty mind can read it out to say "i love to F*** you."
Posted by: Julie at April 13, 2009 8:59 AMHAHAHA! instead of ILVTOFU she should try ILKTOFU! Perhaps that would be acceptible - HAHAHA!
