Students Fighting to Stop KFC From Coming to Campus! April 23, 2009

After a sympathetic faculty member contacted PETA to say that a new KFC location might be opening at the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh, we knew that this wasn't going to happen without a fight!
Thankfully, the student body has jumped into action, gathering petition signatures against KFC and drawing attention to the fact that the company continues to allow chickens to have their beaks sliced off with hot blades and their throats slit while fully conscious. Clearly a chain with such blatant disregard for animals has no place on a college campus (or anywhere for that matter).
The whole situation is being covered by the student newspaper, The Advance-Titan, and the students are optimistic about their chances of stopping KFC in their tracks.

Posted by: JD at April 28, 2009 3:54 PMthe battle isn't over. today is the "final" vote on deciding whether or not KFC is put on my campus. three committees vote- one said yes to KFC, another said no. this vote MUST be a no. KFC goes against everything this university is working to stand for in the ways of sustainability. it breaks my heart in every way possible.

If information about this decision was actually given out we could have acted much sooner. It will be so sad if this happens because I am proud to say that I go to a leading sustainable university. To get a KFC on campus will tarnish the reputation of UW-Oshkosh forever.
P.S. - On our petition we got hundreds of students to sign against KFC on campus. We even got many supporters of KFC to conform, AND we even got someone that works at a KFC to sign it!
