Vegan vegetarian high school
When I was in high school, vegetarian and vegan options were almost non-existent—and since I was really uninformed about why I shouldn't be supporting the dairy and egg industries, I thought it was fine to continue eating the slimy and rather disgusting cheese nachos and mashed potatoes with the mysterious gravy that supposedly had no meat in it. I simply thought I had no choice.
Back then, peta2 was just starting out. I felt totally alone in my battle to make change—so I didn't. Those days are over!
Now, hundreds of students every week contact us to help get veg options in their schools—and we've picked some of the most veg friendly high schools in the U.S and Canada to congratulate them on being compassionate to both animals and students by giving their students the choice to eat cruelty free.
We also want to inspire you to get out there and make the changes in your school that you and the animals deserve. It's easier than ever—and we're here to help.
The Healthy School Lunch Campaign, sponsored by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), has a website HealthySchoolLunches.org based on the idea that "(f)oods served in schools should promote the health of all children." I don't know who would possibly disagree, so check that out, and make sure you forward it to parents, teachers, and anyone in your school's administration, too! You can also sign the petition and directly write to members of Congress.
