Seals Canada Olympics seal slaughter Vancouver
It just so happens that the Olympics—one of the world's major sporting events—are happening in Canada next year, and with the world's eye on Vancouver, this is a huge chance to spotlight the shame that is Canada's annual slaughter of thousands of seals who are commonly killed by having their skulls smashed in, or being shot at point blank range.
205,000 seals were killed last year alone—many of them while they were only a few weeks old. The seal slaughter is so sick and cruel that we get e-mails from people who think it must've already been stopped. There's no way in 2009 we can still be bashing in the skulls of baby seals, right? Wrong.
PETA Germany just held one of the most provocative seal slaughter protests to remind people around the world that this is still going on. Check it out:

And PETA's campaigners are visiting Canada to remind Canadians that we're dedicated to getting justice for seals.

Let's end the seal slaughter once and for all!
