Seals Canada fur leather Free Stuff Friday seal slaughter
Did you know hundreds of thousands of seals are slaughtered every year in Canada? The Canadian seal hunt (or "slaughter" as we like to call it) is the largest mammal massacre in the WORLD!
Over the past five years, almost 2 million seals have been slain and the majority of those have been pups under three months old. These defenseless seals are typically clubbed to death. However, many actually survive the brutal beatings only to later be skinned alive.
Why does Canada tolerate such cruelty? To make money, of course! These seals are sacrificed for the sake of fashion. Their skins are used to make leather products and their fur is used to make fur coats and trim. Who in their right mind would even think about wearing fur again after seeing what these poor seals endure?
We want everyone to take a stand and urge Canada to put an end to this brutality. You can help show your support with our new 'Club Soda, Not Seals' t-shirt. This week, we're giving away three of them!
To enter for your chance to win, just comment below with what you think of Canada's vicious seal slaughter. Entries must be received by March 27th and the three people with the most powerful comments will be chosen and notified by March 30th.

I don't understand how any person can kill for a sport. It's one thing to hunt but another thing to torture for entertainment. If serial killers think it's fun to torture human beings and tried making it a sport they would go to a mental hospital. Why are the killers of the baby seals any different? It makes me so mad. I told all my friends about this and they were just as flabbergasted. Also it's not like the seal are over-populating Canda so what's their modavation. Like i said this is sick and cruel and completely crosses the line.

I'm rather proud of myself at the minute as i'm in journalism class,k and just convinced my teacher, who originally just laughed at the thought of not eating meat, to stop eating McDonalds. It may not be a complete change of mind, but it's a start!

Posted by: Pepsi One is Fun at March 20, 2009 9:17 AMHey, I think the shirt is really nice, I'm trying REALLY HARD to get my yoga class to do our karma project on saving the seals!! I think it is just so stupid that us canadians do this, why not let nature just take its course and leave the cute seals alone?!
Posted by: Jennifer at March 20, 2009 9:36 AMI would love this shirt! I think that people who kill seals, or any other animal, are cowards who can't get any other job. The only way they can make money is to kill a defenseless, young animal.
Posted by: Liz Miller at March 20, 2009 9:50 AMI hate it and it makes me sick to think that my own country does this horribly hanus crime. Fashion is the field I want to go into, and I have sworn to myself (and some other people) that I will NEVER EVER use fur/leather/suede/wool/etc in my fashions (if I make it that far). My own country is always supposed to be the KIND and FRIENDLY one. Stereotypical Canadians are NICE. This contradicts that and I HATE it.
Posted by: Sarah Main at March 20, 2009 10:02 AMI'm from Canada I think the seal slaughter is selfish and cruel. It makes Canada look like an evil cold place and that will prevent people from touring here!
Posted by: Natasha at March 20, 2009 10:17 AMI'm so horrified that people would hurt baby animals! Seals are some of the cutest animals!!! I honestly can't even look at any of the pictures that have been sent out in the past without tearing up. NO LIE!
People need to realize the cruelty that they're putting animals in when they wear seal fur. It's not right!! I honestly don't know how the people who do the clubbing can live with themselves.
The shirt is awesome
Posted by: Carolyn at March 20, 2009 10:47 AMFirst off, I love this shirt. I've loved the little "Club soda, not seals" logo for a while now, and I'm so glad there's a top with it on there.
I've gotten into so many debates over the seal slaughter, and it saddens and surprises me how many people are actually pro-seal hunt. They bring up so many different points, about how the sealers need the hunt in order to survive. Actually, that's the only point they like to make, really. My take on the seal slaughter? It isn't a hunt. Hunting involves so much more than just running up to something that is basically helpless and then beating it to death. That isn't hunting. It's the same thing as shooting fish in a barrel.
Second, I am a firm believer in everything his Holiness the Dalai Lama represents and supports, and I do not believe that -any- animals (cute or not), have a right to suffer at the hands of man and I do not believe human kind needs to cause suffering in order for us to survive.
"But human life is more important than animal life." Humans -are- animals. Always have been, always will be. It is my dream to see more people embrace the lifestyle of living amongst other living things with respect. It is pure arrogance to believe that human life is more valuable than any other life on the planet. If all humans believed this to be true, there would be no other living things on this precious earth but ourselves. Kudos to every organization out there that is trying to make a difference, I believe in the human spirit and I believe that we can co-exist and respect nature without ego.
"If you can, help others; if you cannot do that, at least do not harm them."
- His Holiness the Dalai Lama
I think that the Canadian seal slaughter is horrific. It is so disappointing to think that people have killed millions of seals in intolerably cruel methods for absolutely no reason. The time is long overdue for the seal slaughter to be abolished.
Posted by: Kim at March 20, 2009 10:54 AMCanada's annual seal slaughter is completely out of line with the country's largely progressive policies. As the United States fell into a steady downward spiral during the Bush years, I oftentimes daydreamed about immigrating to Canada. Universal health care, legal recognition of same-sex marriage, and even women heads of state! - What a paradise. Canada's brutal seal slaughter mars its image as a humane and forward-thinking country.
Posted by: kelly g. at March 20, 2009 10:57 AMIn my opinion, being against the clubbing of seals in canada is just common sense. You wouldn't want your child to be clubbed shortly after birth because it's skin was soft, would you? Why would seals want any different treatment for their kids than you would give your child?
Common sense, people! You don't want people aborting babies, then why would you want hunters to club babies? The species if unimportant.
Posted by: Deb at March 20, 2009 12:03 PMThe Canadian seal hunt is so brutal. It's like abusing babies and that is wrong. I remember the last time I went to Canada, they had shirts that said "Fuck Fashion", now, my mum and I had thought that it meant "Seal Fashion", since we had just been on a tour and they said that "fuck" meant "seal". But it really did mean "Fuck Fashion" If they wanted to "Fuck Fashion", then stop the seal hunt!
Posted by: Liz at March 20, 2009 12:15 PMI find this shirt to be very clever, and instead of cramming information down people's throats (face it, they either want to hear it, or they don') I think shirts and other things like this is the best way to go. I live in America, and have just began to realize how desensitized, how demoralized, how ignorant, and how cruel people can really be. I am just now branching out and opening up, and starting to question not only our government, but others out there that allow things like the murder of seals, the issues in the slaughterhouses, and the smaller things just like awareness.
I just want to say keep up the good work, and keep making the awesome shirts... the more people who wear them, the more we are gonna get our beliefs across.
(and not to diss or anything on the last comment, but really, fashion has such a HUGE impact on everyone... maybe its time to embrace it for the better, to use it for a good cause, such as this.)

I had no idea that this happened in Canada until I say the video on the website. I think seals are absolutely adorable! I'vegot a HUGE seal soft toy from the WWF which I'm super happy with! It would be fantasti if the EU agreed to ban the importing of all seal fur into the EU. I'd probably start dancing around in the streets if they did =P

Posted by: Steffi Thake at March 20, 2009 12:36 PMI don't understand this, with all of my heart, I don't. Is there something different in the genetic makeup of these peoples brains that allows them to think it is okay? Go play a freaking game of monopoly if you are so darn bored that you would go kill a living being for your own enjoyment. Yuck. The thought makes me sick to my stomach. I just can't understand what would compel a person to do such a horrible thing to an innocent creature. I can't explain it. I'm sure they can't explain it either. There is no explanation for murder and it has got to stop.
Posted by: India at March 20, 2009 1:36 PMIt is absolutely disgusting how the fishermen can kill these animals so inhumanely. Ever since finding out I have been trying to spread the word to as many people as possible via word of mouth, internet, blogs, etc. to boycott Canadian seafood and do what they can to save the seals. We must do our part to end this! I'd love to win this shirt to increase the amount of people I can spread the word to!!

Posted by: julia at March 20, 2009 2:05 PMI was stoked on this shirt. Seals are awesome! But the way they are treated i find it a bit cruel. Seriously, they are just animals, if you don't like them, don't kill them.
Posted by: Lauren at March 20, 2009 2:08 PMWhat i think of canada seal slaughter.
i think the slaughter of innocent seals is obviously unwanted and un-needed. But many people may query that it is a good thing to cut down the number of seals. However, this earth is overwelmed with humans and mass slaughter does not happen and will not happen, if it did it would been seen as a horrific masacre. I see seal slaughter as a horrific massacre, but only as i view this deteriarating world from other points of view, from the victims view. If other people were to not be so selfish and biased and narrow minded, and for once looked from another view, im almost certain that animal abuse wouldnt happen. If we're the only organisation that really care so much to do something, whats going on in the other billions of peoples minds? Knowledge is power, but have you noticed the most powerful people, dont have this knowledgge. I have this knowledge, so can i be just as powerful? In order to live in a rich estate of equilibrium, we must understand and gather knowledge from those who cannot speak our way, and are unable to speak up. If we could communicate with these animals, what would you say? i certainly wouldnt want to tell them. I wouldnt want to be the slaughterer either. Masacre happen in the wars, hitler as a main focal point, killing so many innocent. Is that what were turning into? mass murderers for innocent seals? Are we at war with a lower rank of living being? Its a bit unfair dont you think? Oh How i wish someone could answer those questions. .. Why ?
Posted by: emma at March 20, 2009 2:24 PMClubbing such a sweet animal as a seal is a crime against the universe in general. and kiling it for nothing but sport and in such a cruel way as clubbing, is crueler and more awful still.
the fact that they are doing this, makes me want to do more than just wear this shirt, i wish i could live among the seals with a shotgun, go ahead, canada, come near that seal.
but i'm being mean, i want to spread this message, club soda, not seals
I just do not understand how anyone would want to slaughter such innocent, precious, and beautiful creatures. We share this earth with them and we should do nothing but protect them. We are their family. These animals should have rights. Rights that allow them to live in peace. I look to make animals my friends but how can they trust us when there are cruel people out to kill them? They should not have to fear for their lives. They should not have to have their innocent lives cut short all because of the cruel people who are after them. They deserve to live every single day in peace and they deserve to never have to worry about if they will be alive tomorrow again. We must all come together to save these precious animals from death and to give them a brighter tomorrow.
Posted by: Alexandria Pascucci at March 20, 2009 2:35 PMKilling innocent seals is just so wrong and cruel!!! I want to win this shirt so others will see it and have the knowledge about this and so they can also take a stand for what is right!-Protecting seals!!!

Posted by: susan varney at March 20, 2009 3:24 PMseal slaughter is SICK!!! >.
seriously, some people are such bullies. havent they ever heard the phrase, "pick on somebody your own size!" ?
theyre just babies for crying out loud!
first off let me just say this top is amazing! also i can't even fathom the idea of clubbing poor seals for "sport" why on earth would anyone do this? why would you feel the need to do this?
seals didn't do anything to anyone, there is not an excuse to why this is done. If you had a heart you wouldn't do this, i mean have you seen a baby seal? they are so cute! all fluffy looking like a puppy! why would you kill it?!?!?!
hopefully educating other on how gruesome this "sport" is we can end the clubbing, or drastically lower the number of people who do it.
Would they club their puppies and kittens? Would they skin them for leather if it were profitable? It is no different and it is wrong!
Posted by: Kris at March 20, 2009 4:07 PMThe seal slaughter is an unneccessary, inhumane, outdated and cruel business.
But the thing that ticks me off the most about the seal hunt is that my Canadian taxes (well technically its my parents who pay the taxes, but still) subsidize and pay for the hunt. And over 60% of the people in Canada do not agree with the hunt, so why are we still hunting seals? It makes no sense to me....
When I saw this I thought "what?", then I went to search it to see exactly what it was about.
This is sad. I mean what has the world come to. Just for fur we kill innocent creatures? How would we feel if that was our pet being killed for fur? We would stand up for our pet. Well how would we feel if that was us or a loved one? It would have to be stopped. That's what would happen if it was us. But it is not so people just go on killing poor defenlice animals. Thats the sad truth. Oh and people say we can kill them they are just animals... well WE ARE ANIMALS for doing that. If an animal (lets say a lion) kills someone what do we do?.... kill them so people are killing animals... what should we do? nothing. I SAY NOT.
I know you might not understand the point I am trying to get across (im only 15 and have a horrible vocabulary) but, its the truth. Look at us and think about it we are MURDERS. We are ANIMALS. And we are WRONG. KILLING ANIMALS IS HORRIBLE! Why do we do it? FOOD? we can eat other things. CLOTHES? we have other choices. SO WHY?
Posted by: haley at March 20, 2009 4:26 PMAnyone who's ever seen a baby seal clubbed has to be against this slaughter. The shirts are helpful, but humiliating those who buy and sell sealskin is more important. You do a great job on both counts!!
Posted by: Ann H at March 20, 2009 4:46 PMOf all the atrocities that people commit against animals, murdering them for fashion purposes seems like the most pointless and cruel. It's one thing to think that you have to kill animals for food; obviously it's very, very wrong, but I can understand how people, through being indoctrinated into eating meat their entire lives, can be fooled into thinking that a carnivorous diet is the only option. Clubbing seals, however, is senseless, and I don't get why anyone would think it was okay. There isn't even the infuriating issue people have with killing what isn't cute and preserving what is: Baby seals are adorable, even more so when they're frolicking about in the snow and ice than when they're hanging off a tacky old lady's back! It saddens me that a nation like Canada, which tends to be so much more progressive than the United States on issues such as health care, can allow such an inhumane practice to continue.
Posted by: Brittney Reed at March 20, 2009 5:19 PMI hate to even try to imagine how animals think of us. Charming words like murderer, trainer, master, hunter, torturer. And we make places like slaughter houses, gas chambers, puppy mills, test labs. But what's even worse is that we stomp our way into these animals homes and destroy and consume everything in sight, but when an animal comes as close as the drive way to our homes they hear scat! Get out! Go away! Its not fair and it degrades us as a species. We seem to think that we are the all powerful alpha species when in fact humans and animals co exist all alike. You put the fastest olympic runner up to a cheetah, who do you thinks gonna win? Put michael phelps up to a dolphin in the lap pool, whose faster? Put the strongest man in the world up to a gorilla, whose stronger? Because we can make guns, cars, boats, and bats to shoot, drive, ship and club an animal does NOT make us the "better" species, it makes us the masters of dependency.. Lame huh? When these animals leave their moms at young ages and we can't even leave our moms house till we're 25 or 30? Lame huh? Some one who has the heart to kill a beautiful, sweet animal in its own is bad enough but might as well kill the mother while you're at it bc its killing her to watch her baby die just as it would kill the heartless bastard to see his kid be brutally murdered and couldn't do a thing about it. Its unfair, its unnecessary, its unethical and its downright embarrassing to know I come from the same species. I can only hope any animal that comes across my driveway can feel safe knowing he won't be hated for his actions.. I think the declaration needs to be corrected because ALL SPECIES ARE CREATED EQUAL! Discrimination against seals is just as low as discrimination against race or creed.
Posted by: kylie at March 20, 2009 5:34 PMWho has the heart to even slaughter a seal... no who has the heart to slaughter any animal? I am horrified by what hearltess poeple are doing to inocent animals. Why would you kill an animal just for fur to wear and make yourself noticed that youre wearing seal fur?!?! Its just liek skinning a human and wearing it as leather. Seal slaughter is heartless and cruel. People really need to think back and see what theyre really doing to the animals in the world.
Posted by: Veronica at March 20, 2009 6:55 PMSlaughtering Seals! That just should not even be legal. I have been contributing to the idea of ridding Canada of this act years ago before I joined PETA. Now every time I get an E-mail about it I immediately act. Honestly what creature deserves to be treated that way. If I had my way (and it was legal XP) I would have whoever decided to start this event and whomever keeps it going beaten and skinned! Cruelty just can't even describe this vicious act of violence. Hopefully the shirts make it around and people get the idea to check out this very important and vicious crime.
Posted by: Allen Wilson at March 20, 2009 6:57 PMThis is just plain wrong! How could anyone do this! How would the people who kill baby seals like it if thier daughters,or sons. Were killed right in front of thier eyes! With nothing to do. People who do this are very low life. I couldn't imagine doing this to any animal. This is just very shocking.
Posted by: Alondra G. at March 20, 2009 6:59 PMI think the seal slaughter is discusting.
i don't know how anyone would be able to do such a horrible thing to an adorable baby seal. :(
The seal hunt makes the statement that Canada is only interested in money and certainly not their image in the world or any ethical or moral standing. Since I learned about the seal hunt as a child I have boycotted Canada and will never enter that country or buy their products as long as the seal hunt takes place. I put my money where my mouth is - I do not support cruelty.
Posted by: M.E. at March 20, 2009 7:05 PMWhat a cute slogan. I just can't imagine people that could actually do that and its heinous.

Posted by: Meredith Rogen at March 20, 2009 8:28 PMSeal slaughter is horrible.I don't see any reaon in killing an innocent animal like that. Its torture, mean, cruel and so unnessecary.
Posted by: Jennie Weer at March 20, 2009 8:41 PMI can still remember being highly traumatized as a child seeing this on television. It's even worse knowing that it still goes on and doesn't have to.
Posted by: Chris N at March 20, 2009 9:01 PMI think the seal slaughter is the most horrendous, disgusting thing ever. Seals aren't meant for food or clothing. I don't understand why people club seals for nothing. They can't get away very fast, and they're helpless. It sickens me to think that these seals are killed mainly for fur, but also for food. It's sad to realize that whether it's a seal, or a mink, or a cow, their skin, the thing that is rightfully theirs, is stolen from them to make clothing for people.
Posted by: Kat at March 20, 2009 9:09 PMThe Canadian government claims the amount of seals being murdered is rising so rapidly due to a demand for "all" fur... if its a demand for all fur, why are they killing mainly seals? I'm sure the heartless person who will be wearing fur would want something more luxurious, anyway. :/
This is more of a sport than anything, and anyone who finds amusement in slaughtering another living being, well... they really need to stop and think, "How would I feel if someone was killing ME for entertainment?" It's just simply wrong.
This shirt would actually really help me with my campaign in school! You see, I am in my second term of AP World History. And for our big project (collateral) that counts towards 10% of our grade we have to choose a problem in the world and work towards educating about the problem and trying to solve it. I choose this issue, because out of all the animal cruelty issues out there, this is amongst the top of them, and not even the most heartless person can look at a picture of a baby harp seal without at least thinking "aww". I have to have campaigns and such to educate my peers about the seriousness of this situation, and this shirt would really help me out a lot with getting the word across.
Posted by: Nikki Faraci at March 20, 2009 9:12 PMThe seal hunt is a (very valuable) but immensely cruel and unnecessary slaughter of animals to suit our taste for blood and death on the runway. 270,000 seals were killed in 2007, considering this is less than the amount killed on European fur farms every week, and it's the death of THOUSANDS.
These seals are cruelly massacred so their pelts, meat and blubber can be used for our own "needs". But honestly, who really NEEDS these things from such a beautiful creature? It's just amazing how humans can be so heartless towards these pure, innocent creatures who deserve to swim in the sea, not be used as a fur coat and blubber nuggets. It's our responsibility to NOT allow this seal-clubbing to continue. We are human, but we should be humane as well.
Posted by: Marcela at March 20, 2009 9:16 PMAfter reading all these comments why does the Canadian governments not see things as we do.Killing seals is Murder.
Posted by: Linda Chaput at March 20, 2009 9:20 PMI am against the slaughter of all animals. I think it is horrible that such a huge number of seals are being slaughtered in Canada. I believe all animals deserve to be respected and shown compassion by humans. These violent acts toward living creatures do not spread a message of peace and therefore should not be permitted.
Posted by: Lena at March 20, 2009 9:20 PMThis great looking t-shirt says it all. How on earth can anyone imagine doing such a thing! Such lovable creatures need our support. Thank you for making the stand!!!!
Posted by: Elizabeth L at March 20, 2009 9:32 PMI love all animals and would love it if those who beat seals got that kind of treatment themselves but I believe somehow karma will come back and bite them in the but. Animals depend on us to protect them, not go and kill them and put the heads on walls or make coats
Posted by: SANDY at March 20, 2009 9:33 PMAs a Canadian and a vegan I am absolutely ashamed of the seal slaughter! I am so heartbroken over the fact that my government allows this to continue and refuses to end this brutal massacre. It's embarrassing for me to belong to a community where people find this acceptable! I fight to bring awareness about this tragedy to the people around me. My love of animals and horror at the seal slaughter has caused problems even amongst my family members, but it's all worth it because I hope that my outrage will bring others to the realisation that we can't allow these babies to continue being murdered. It'd be awesome to have that tee as a tool to help raise awareness.
Posted by: Angela at March 20, 2009 9:52 PMIt is disgusting! There is something mentally wrong with people who engage with this behavior.
Posted by: Kacy at March 20, 2009 11:05 PMI think it's beyond terrible that that's considered a sport! I find it enormously disgusting and disturbing. I don't understand why that's legal. It's illegal (in most areas) to kill squirrels (-Not to say that we should be able to. I love squirrels.)but it's okay to kill seals?! It's awful to begin with, but making it so gory and inhumane is just completely uncalled for. If you must kill a bunch of seals does it have to be by bludgeoning them to death? There are so many more quick and less painful ways of going about that sort of thing if you refuse to stop it altogether. Inflicting that much pain on them for no reason is ridiculously unfair and wrong! Whoever came up with that was seriously sick.
Posted by: Zan at March 20, 2009 11:31 PMKilling seals is just so wrong
Posted by: wanda flanagan at March 20, 2009 11:57 PMpersonally, i think it is horrible and absolutely absurd that they kill defenseless little seals like that.
they did nothing to deserve it
In my wildlife class, we watched a video taken by animal rights activists of the clubbing of baby seals. It is one of the most tragic crimes ever committed against innocent creatures. The cries and screams of the mother seals are heart-breaking as they rummage through the unidentifiable carcasses that used to be their children. And for what? For fashion. This twisted and inhumane practice is one of the blackest marks on mankind's treatment toward animals: the ability of a human being to brutally kill such adorable and innocent creatures is frightening. If we are able to tolerate this violence against baby seals, who else will we allow to suffer? No one can be free when others are oppressed. Canadian seal slaughter is not acceptable, and the world needs to respond.
Posted by: Chloe at March 21, 2009 1:16 AMI love seals and i think that it is horrendous that people club these poor defenseless animals. I mean animal's skin was given to them by God. I mean imangine if there where aliens who went and clubbed us as humans over the head till our brains are over the ice just to have our skins to keep them warm.
Now i know that there aren't aliens but i do hope that everyone sees my point. Just cause humans are bigger then the seals doesn't mean we have to use that power for fashion.
SO LET'S STOP THE CRUEL KILLING OF THE SEALS. CANADA MUST MAKE CLUBBING SEALS ILLEGAL AND ENFORCE IT WITH A STRICT PUNISHMENT FOR THOSE WHO ARE CLUBBING THESE SEALS.
All I can do is wonder how people can say we live in a civilised world when this sort bof thing goes on :(

Posted by: Maxine at March 21, 2009 8:03 AMI think that this story shows how cruel and heartless some people are. I don't think that clubbing seals till they're dead (or not dead,) and then skinning them dead or alive is called for and necessary. None of this is called for at all, and I think that people can find a substitute to real fur and leather. I don't think people need to wear leather and fur because the animals that went into that were brutally killed, and that is nothing to boast about. Every time I see someone wearing fur, I get depressed to think about the poor animals getting killed for their skin and fur. Why isn't it illegal to take their skin after killing them, but it is illegal to take ours?

Posted by: Kaylee at March 21, 2009 11:57 AMI hate to even try to imagine how animals think of us. Discrimination against seals is just as low as discrimination against race or creed.

this sort of abuse is the sort of thing people are arrested for daily, yet it is being accepted and even ignored. the way these sweet and harmless animals are being treated is truely disgusting. i feel that this is an issue that needs to be addressed and that some major changes need to be made. Shirts and other items help but we all need to make sure that we spread the word that this is happening to all the people who would rather choose to ignore it. thank you for this campaign peta!
Posted by: shayna burns at March 21, 2009 12:58 PMkilling a seal for its fur is atrocious. i have always loved seals. when i heard about seal slaughtering i wanted to go slaughter one of the men doing that. its a ridiculous sport and needs to be stoped now.
Posted by: krystle at March 21, 2009 1:19 PMEvery time i read about animals and baby animals being killed it makes me want to cry. this is horrible that people would actually want to club seals for money.
This shirt is awesome and very unique. I wish everyone was as aware of this as the people are on this site. everyone has feelings and it doesn't matter if we are more 'superior' or 'powerful' than animals. it doesn't make it right for them to go out and kill these innocent animals.
My friend and I printed out some posters of going vegetarian and vegan and how it helps the earth. We then posted them up at the local post office. We went back the next day, and they were ripped off. It just shows how much people are so mercenary and care about these animals and our earth.
Wearing these shirts will spread the news to everyone. The more people know the more we can save these animals. I really do hope that people can change and understand what we are doing, especially the canadians. Can one person make a change? I believe so.
“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.” - Maria Robinson
I remember seeing a seal cull being reported on the news when I was about eight or so. Just seeing the workers land their axes on the poor, defenseless seal families was so upsetting, and I cried for ages. But the most upsetting thing was the feeling that nobody was doing anything about it - I felt frustrated that anyone could just let this massacre happen, even support it. Fortunately, I have found many organizations devoted to the ending of such practices, which Is reassuring. It's time for these meaningless killing sprees to end.
Posted by: Paul at March 21, 2009 1:39 PMI think the seal hunt is unecessary, cruel, inhumane, and downright stupid.
I would love this t-shirt, since I actually am Canadian and people would see me wearing it and think "Hey, I don't like it either" and get involved in helping to try and stop it.
I really think it's sick. I'm a vegetarian and while chickens, pigs and cows are good to save, seals are just as important. You would think as cute as they are, people would know better. Killing baby animals that young is comparable to killing an infant. "Oh, I want some leather and some fur. Honey, grab the club and let's go whack some defenseless animal."
It's just sickening.
What a great way to get our message across!! Awesome Shirt!
Posted by: Diane E. at March 21, 2009 2:54 PMOk, i like wearing leather and eating meat, however i don't like unnecessary cruelty, so i am against the seal clubbing, just like i am against the netting of fish by native americans or anyone else. Just because they have done it for hundreds of years doesn't make it the thing to do now. Ps. you really don't have to hate me when i eat meat, just try to reason with me and convince me i am wrong in doing so, and perhaps i can change given the right persuasion.
Posted by: mark oakley at March 21, 2009 3:14 PMI think this is horrible what people are doing. Every animal is just like a person. Posted by: Terri D at March 21, 2009 11:45 PMThis inhumane act is exactly what keeps driving me to be a good person and to make a difference. It's hard to believe such a lovable creature would be struck to death with a club for money. In fact, no human could have possibly done this. It must have been a monster. I will never we able to live with myself knowing that everyday I would brutally whack a harmless and innocent baby seal until it cannot suffer anymore and dies. I would probably kill myself so I would not live with the guilt. Club me instead of clubbing seals. They have a lot to live for than I do. One really big reason why I am completely against this was because I was on a walk with my grandfather when a small bird walked up on the sidewalk and he kicked it. It flew a few feet in the air and landed with blood spewing out of its mouth until it finally laid there, still and dead. I was devastated for days and I couldn't even look at my grandfather for weeks. I guess I was always afraid to watch someone suffer. I was always afraid to suffer. That's why I signed up for the Peta2 Street Team. Helping animals has helped me with my depression. I will do everything in my power and make sure to follow this seal clubbing until it's finally ended. That's what you do when someone is in need. You don't just sit there and watch, you act. Whoever clubs these seals are monsters and whoever wears seal leather are monsters. If you wear any fur you should imagine a loved one being skinned and made into a jacket. Everyone should be able to live their life to the fullest, and clubbing seals is ending young pups lives and make your life a whole lot worse. Every animal should have the right to live and to choose whether they want to be skinned, abused, and tortured. Animals came before us. Without animals, we would be dead right now. So please, if you're going to skin baby seals at least do it peacefully and with care.
Posted by: Julie at March 22, 2009 12:42 AMI think the canadian seal slaughter is disgusting. living in the Uk, i had no idea this was still happening and i think this is a good campaign because a lot of people only care about cute animals and i think we can easily get public support whoch annoys me because the seal slaughter shouldn't be happening anyway. Anyway I think thet seeing as i am here in the UK where no one has heard of it, this t-shirt would be a good way to spread the word. When I first heard of the campaign I was horrified. it inhumane and just plain...nasty. its disgusting. I don't know how anyone can kill anything as clubbing them to death is violent and horrific.
Posted by: Laura Murphy at March 22, 2009 8:07 AMI absolutely love seals, and I used to not think anything of the clubbing. I'd make jokes like "A baby seal walked into a club" and my brother, who is at college, has a picture of a baby seal and a clubber that says, "Warranties- void if seal is broken". But now, when I actually see a video or read a report on what is happening to one of my favorite animals, I feel ashamed that I could make fun of it. I feel as if I was feeding the clubbing drive. I think that now I can do something to help stop it, like by getting signatures on my peta2 petition for seal clubbing.
I also use to make fun of peta with People Eating Tasty Animals (which is a BBQ sauce in Wyoming) but when I saw the videos, I felt sick to my stomache and I had to stop halfway through watching because it was so bad.
I feel as if I have changed for the better thanks to peta2.
Posted by: Austin (aufachse5) at March 22, 2009 8:14 AMI recently wrote a letter to the senators regarding the Seal hunt, and received a reply from the senator of Alberta. His responce was that he was trying to see all side of the situation and that the seals were beginning to overpopulate, which is why they are considering allowing the seal hunt to continue. umm... since when is overpopulation an excuse to brutally murder?
OH right, so now when our cities are overpopulated are we going to be allowed to brutally murder people to keep the population stable?
get real, there is no excuse for this disgusting 'event'.
It is the connection between commercial fisheries and the seal hunt, and the economics of both industries, which makes a boycott of Canadian seafood products a logical next step in ending the annual hunt. And it is American consumers and businesses that purchase Canadian seafood who have the power to convince the Canadian government and individual fishermen to stop the slaughter of seals.
The Canadian seal hunt is the largest slaughter of marine mammals on Earth. More than one million baby seals have been killed for their fur during the past four years. You can help stop this atrocity.
So I am going to stand up for what I think is right, and help to put an end to this chaos.
Even if I don't get this shirt, that would show my pride in taking a stand and maybe convince others to help.. I will do whatever I can to make a difference and not let this rediculous cruelty continue.
Get recognized and let others know about whats going on in the world.
Posted by: katelynn at March 22, 2009 10:07 AMOne word...Murder!
It doesn't take more than a second to realize that.
Just how it's wrong to kill a person...it's also wrong to kill an animal, specially if they're freakin' clubbed to death.
What are these people? Cave men?
To stupid or ignorant to realize how inhumane this is?
How can anyone be able to live with themselves, knowing the crime they commit everytime they club a defenseless seal or injure a living thing in that matter.
Personally, I'd rather be homeless than have a job or live off a sport as cruel and depressing as these people have.
This is just plain sick, and heartless D:
As I saw the video i swear my eyes got all watery, and feel so much anger and hate towards these people, oh jesus.
I'm a huge animal lover, which is why I'm a vegetarian and don't let things like this just past me by and do nothing about it, which is why i do what i can to help end this kind of injustice in the world.
I might just be sixteen, but i know what I'm talking about.
(Just now)
I didn't have to tell my lil' nephew or show him the video for him to know this is wrong, an automatic frown came to his face after he had asked me what i was typing. All I had to say
was "Seals that are murder". And he's just turn seven!
IDk, but something has to be done, pronto.
And when I mean pronto, it means pronto!
Ps. Seals are the cutiest thing ever!
And that tee really shows it and demonstrates
the message we all want to send out.
I love it!
(Wow this was a great way for me to relieve all the tension and anger caused by these airhead people)
As a Canadian I think this is disgusting!
We Canadians are peace keepers, were supposed to be kind and gentle, and this is something that no one needs to be capable of, especially Canadians.
As a world we are constantly trying to get things right, this is wrong, lets fix it.
Only idiots and cowards hrut seals and wear them for fashion reasons.

I get really upset and sad whenever I hear about this because those seals are worth just as much as any human or other animal. What do we need the fur for really? There are so many materials that look exactly the same. But for some people it's some sort of status thing to have real fur or leather. That's just beyond ridiculous. The fact that this is also a sport I mean what the fuck is up with that it's like bullfighting just disgusting and gross. I just think that a good person would never kill an individual in sports or for fur. Any kindhearted person sees that it's wrong that aproximately 200000 seals die every year for the seal hunt. It's completely useless and I wish that it would stop.

Posted by: Sarah at March 22, 2009 5:39 PMClubbing seals to death is a vicious, and hateful thing to do.
How would the hunters like it if I took their child, while restraining them, and clubbed them to death?
I'm sure they wouldn't like it, so why would they inflict that pain upon seals?
Seals feel pain like we do, so why should they be lesser than us? It is not fair, it's cruel, unjust, unreasonable, and just plain wrong!
No one should be subjected to this torturous pain, neither mother, nor child.
You would be sent to jail for clubbing a baby human to death, so why should it be different for seals? It is inhumane!
Seals are just like us! Shouldn't we treat others the way we would want to be treated? Why does this rule not apply to seals?
Well, it does! You wouldn't want to be clubbed to death, or watch your child be clubbed to death, so stop hurting seals with your vicious ways!
I will do everything I can to stop the clubbing of seals, I hope you will too.

This is horrible !, I personally think that whatever a person has the right to do to animals that they should have that dont to them, bc taking an animals life is just the same as taking a human life && should be punished for !!!
SAVE THE SEALS !!!!
One of the popular names that the Canadian government slaps on this massacre is 'population control'... the fact is that the seals' population was at a steady rate before the hunt. Why anyone wants to wear dead animals on them, eat them, or associate with them is beyond me. In an era when there are so many more substitutes for that, why do we carry on like cavemen? This behavior is just atrocious.
The Canadian seal hunt is not only disturbing for humans to hear about or see, but think of the other seals who witness their families being beaten to death and then skinned?
i absolutely love this shirt(: its really cute,,
also; i think that it could be a great way to get the word out about the seal slaughter in CANADAAH.
some people might read the shirt and be like, "club soda not seals, what does that mean?" and that would be the perfect oppurtunity to tell them all about the disgusting massacre and inform them dont wear real fur, its not cool.
HEY, CANADA, WHAT DID THOSE SEALS EVER DO TO YOU?
personally i think that it takes a reeeaalyy low person to beat/skin an innocent seal while theyre down, but it takes an even LOWER person to wear that baby seal's blood on their hands. losers.
When asked what I wanted to write about for my English 1201 passion/call of action paper I chose the seal hunt. I not only wrote a 10 page paper (+ an additional 5 pages of photos) about it but by the time I was finished with the paper I felt the need to take action myself. I was able to get 100 people to sign a petition stating they would not support any restaurants, grocery stores, etc that were not registered on PETA's safe list. Needless to say, I got an A on the paper and my professor even signed my petition making it 101!

CLUB SODA, NOT SEALS
I'm 16-years-old and have been a vegetarian for 2 and a half years now. My choice to become a vegetarian was because I watched many videos on this website and was devastated in the treatment animals receive. A big part was from watching what happens to these seals and to know the some people can be so heartless. I even gave a speech in my public speaking class on why people should be vegetarian and blew up huge pictures of these defenseless animals along with showing the video, "Meet Your Meat." After seeing the look on most of the students faces and hearing their comments I felt that I did my job. Even though not all of them are vegetarians, they are more aware and some don't eat certain kinds and I even converted one. Me and one of my best friends are vegetarians and everytime someone asks me why I reply, "Do you want me to show you a video or two?" and they say, no, but I tell them, these animals are helpless and if you love animals you shouldn't. I have always loved animals and I love this campaign. Seals are one of my favorite animals. I live in California, very close to San Francisco and I really enjoy going to there and being able to watch all the seals on these big platforms they have, and I would be so upset to see them gone. I have told my family about these seals and all I want is for the cruelty to stop! It is unfair to these poor animals who cannot do anything. They have feelings too, just because they don't communicate in the same way we do they still feel it and it is wrong! The money would never make me happy enough after all the pain I would cause such a gentle creature! This is WRONG and needs to end NOW!!!!

I love the top and the logo
Wow, there are soooo many comments and I'm not sure whether I'll be able to win the top, but I'll try anyways. (:
I live in Canada. I WAS a proud Canadian, but after reading about the annual sea hunt, I was shocked and extremely upset that Canada would do such things. Canada is a free country, which means animals should be free too, right? So, why aren't they free of death?
I'm a huge believer in animal rights. Seeing the monsters club those innocent seals just sickens me. Clubbing seals is definitely not a sport and NO excuse for money. Canada should take pride in what we have in our Country. The seal hunt just ruined everything that Canada was. Everyone must have a different view on Canada right now. It's like the clubbers don't know that the seals are feeling pain, that relatives are just near by and watching their loved ones being clubbed to death. They know all of these, yet they continue to club seals. This just shows that they are ignorant, arrogant, immature, stupid "people". Naming those monsters "people" is an insult to our race. Also, the one thing that they do know (no doubt), is that it's unfair. Just because animals don't have a voice, you shouldn't take advantage of that and abuse it. When animals do not have a voice, you should speak for them, not hurt them.
Seeing seals gone would upset me A LOT. I love every kind of animal. This seal hunt is just ridiculous and anyone who supports or participates in it is cruel.
When I first saw this shirt design about a year and a half ago, I couldn't even imagine what it was trying to say. I had no idea what was going on. "Club seals? Why would anyone do that anyways?" What kept running through my head is "Why would anyone kill seals, they're pretty much the cutest animals ever created!"
Then I started maturing, growing and learning more about my world. I realized that people do in fact kill these cute little animals just for the sake of fashion. I never liked fur coats before and this made me dislike them even more. It always perturbed me to think that what I was wearing (or sitting on) was once alive and walking around just like me (and used to be pretty adorable).
I'm now vegan and have been passing out info and stickers to my friends (most of them still have everything I've given them) and have been working to change minds and hearts here in the middle of Cowtown. I'm planning on volunteering at the city animal shelter this summer which is the same place I adopted my cat from. When I look back at what started all of my campaigning, it wasn't the horrific videos (I could never watch more than a few seconds of them) and it wasn't the fact that I was trying to be overly healthy. It was a sticker I saw that said "Club Soda, Not Seals." It was the face behind all of this torture and wrong-doing that made me see where society had gone wrong. It was this face (which I still think is one of the cutest faces in the Animal Kingdom) that made me really look at the world and say "No, I'm not going to take this at your face value anymore."
Whenever I think of the progress we've made as a movement and as a culture in whole, it makes me glad when I hear my friends quip "Meat's no treat for those you eat" or when they order a side of veggies because I've shown them how much healthier they are for you(still working on the entree portion), I think of the little guys living in Canada that are the face of torture victims and senseless torture.
i think that the way that they treat these animals are unethical and unheard of. I just think that it is unfair that some people can have free reign to do what they please to the animals that dont have a say in what they can do to them. Only if the people that hurt these animals can be hurt themselves then they would stop the cruelty. I think that seals are people too and they dont deserve this.
Posted by: Adrienne at March 24, 2009 7:57 AMI think it's absolutely disgusting, I don't know how the people involved sleep at night. Don't they have a conscience?
To end an innocent life for the sake of a piece of clothing is just to much to bear and I just can't believe it's still going on, or that it has ever gone on for that matter.
Something needs to be done now!
Canada should stop turning a blind eye to it and realise the amount of people they are upsetting with this cruel act.
I am Vegan and strongly against animal cruelty and I am deeply saddened by this, it really makes me upset to think of what those seals go through, poor poor things.
Let's just hope that this will be banned as soon as possible.
Loving the t-shirt by the way! x
Well, I want to say that first, I love the shirt. It's amazing and sends a wonderful message. I think this campaign is really important and what these people are doing to these poor animals is cruel and terrible. We all have the right to live. This is no different than killing innocent children! But because neither they, nor their parents, can speak up for them, they think it's okay? Well, they need to realize that they have feelings too, and they have their own lives as well. The fact that we are standing up for these animals, I believe, is helping greatly.
What happened to live and let live? Does it not apply when those being attacked cannot defend? This needless slaughter needs to stop and it needs to stop now, before more lives are lost. I want to know, do the hearts of these cruel people just feel apathetic...
Or do they burn?
killing seals for fashion is disgusting. people wouldn't kill a baby kitten or murder a helpless puppy, so why kill a baby seal? it's not like we don't have alternatives like faux fur. it's disgusting. seals have been one of my favorite animals for the longest time. i love seabert the seal
:)
i don;t see how a human can brutally murder a defenseless animal, just so some trashy snobby rich people can look "sexy" when really, it's just completely disgusting and honestly looks so stupid.

Animal slaughter is so wrong, but the mental image of someone clubbing a seal, a cute wide eyed seal with its pure white innocent fur being splattered with blood is horrible and must be stopped!!!!!!
That shirt is so cute i would love it if i got one. :-)
I cannot believe would be so cruel by hurting these poor beautiful creatures. What is even worse then them using their bodies for fashion is that they hurt them in such a disgusting and evil way. They painfully kill them. I cannot dream about killing an innocent animal, i could not even think of hurting any other animal. Seals are beautiful, and they only do what they were brought up to do. But then humans with no right of mind, go out, and hurt eachother is mind by abusing eachother, and/or another creature.
Posted by: Destiny Goodine at March 24, 2009 1:06 PMWow.
It always stuns me to see what the "humans" of the world will do. Apathy, ignorance...it's horrible. The fact that people will WILLINGLY, not to mention EAGERLY, bash in the skulls of seals-- babies, even. Baby seals, which not only haven't done anything wrong, but in fact haven't even had the TIME to do anything. It always makes me wonder...what if these people's children, say of only a few months of age, were all laid out in a field, defenseless on the ground...what would the parents do to see their HUMAN CHILDREN have their heads crushed in front of their very eyes? Would they find it amusing? Would they want the "sport" to continue? Or, maybe, INCREASE the number of killings allowed? Dare I say no, they wouldn't? Because it's true. It's mass murder, people. If you wouldn't do it to your own CHILDREN, don't do it to an animal. It truly is that simple.
Save the seals, kill the ignorance.
Count me in :)
It is hard to understand how anyone can be so cruel as to "club" an animal to death. It is barbaric and brutal. Beating an animal, especially a defenseless animal is just inexcusable.

Posted by: Sarah at March 25, 2009 2:27 AMI can not believe that people would want to kill baby seals...
And the shirt, it rocks
I think the Seal slaughter is not to be tolerated!! We must help these poor babies who die every year for no reason, it makes me very disgusted and sad!
PS love the shirt!
Posted by: Justine at March 25, 2009 12:20 PMHearing about these seal hunts makes me not want to visit Canada.
Posted by: Carla at March 25, 2009 1:53 PMi think it's terrible!
Posted by: jolene at March 25, 2009 3:09 PMFirst off, I have no idea how people can live with themselves after harming and slaughtering animals in general. Secondly, no one (creatures or human alike) deserves to be clubbed to death; like those poor, poor seals! Thirdly, I live in Canada, and this makes me quite sick to consider myself Canadian, not only do I live in a country that commits the most genocide against these poor little animals, but one of my biggest heroes (Morrissey) boycots Canada because of it, that should be a big eye opener there! It was really Morrissey who opened my eyes to the seal slaughter, since being opened they cannot be shut! This t-shirt is genius, cute, but it serves a very valid point, and I would most definitely appreciate one. Thanks :)

Posted by: nancy waychoff at March 25, 2009 6:15 PMI think it's horrible what they're doing to those seals. I cannot think of how horrible of a person you must have to be to do that to seals.
Posted by: Nikohl Krouser at March 25, 2009 9:24 PMThe video made me literally sick to my stomach, and I cried for all the seals who were so viciously attacked and murdered. This must stop, and we, as fellow animal lovers, must not take it for granted that it will be *someone else* that takes action against these senseless murders.
We muat step up, we must let our voices be heard; so that one of our planet's most beautiful and peaceful creatures, can live out their lives the way nature intended, and not meet the end of their life at the end of a club.
Posted by: Deb K at March 25, 2009 10:06 PMwhen i first heard what was happening to those poor seals i was soo upset that people could be so cruel to a beautiful creature. all animals deserve to live a long life without being beaten or slaughtered. it is really sad that people are doing things so cruel to animals but to club seals is just going over the top, why do these people get to decide that these seals don't deserve a good life? if these people get caught they should face jail time for what they are doing.
HOW MANY ANIMALS HAVE TO BE KILLED BEFORE IT STOPS????
Seals are one of the cutest animals ever, whether they are cartoon or not. I'm at a loss for words. I don't know how someone can just stand there and hit little innocent seals. If they're trying to "get out their frustrations," then they seriously need to take a freaking anger management class. It makes me sick to my stomach. Even worse, after they're clubbed, they skin them...alive?! I just don't get it. I don't understand what is going through the minds of not only the people who actually do the clubbing, but also the people who support this outrage by wearing seal skin and fur.
I don't think seals that have been clubbed and beaten and bloodied up are a fashion forward clothing item.
Posted by: lauryn at March 26, 2009 8:17 AMsince ive heard about this i have done many things to help me and my friends have put posters all around the college adn i have sent eveyone on facebook hotmail etc the mail so that they sighn the petition me and my friend rach also asked for the colleges permission to be able to send the eamil to everyone around college and we were allowed we have sent the email to over 4000 people at are college including teachers we just cant stop doing stuff to helpi think it is sickining that people do this and to be honest anyone who could do this need mental help as to me and many other they are sadistic as how could you possibly look at a seal or any animal and club them to death and then skin them!! these people need to be locked up and to be honest its worse than murder. and one day it might be us one day something bigger and stronger and something that does not understand us will club and skin us for a coat or something and i realy belives this i think people need to relise that humans are not the be all and end all of this world and stop just caring about money. polle need to get out of the 16th century when people belived animals need not think or feel emotion or pain as this studpis theoy have been proved wrong now and animals do jus think and feel just like us. People we are just animals just like them
I think that the Canadian Seal Slaughter is something so terribly violent and it needs to stop. I've made graphics and printed them out and posted them around my school and town. I even signed the petition to help stop the seal slaughter. I honestly think the only reason why these people hurt the seals is because they are bigger then them and they know that the seals cant do anything to stop them. They probably think they are real tough guys hurting poor, helpless animals. Well they aren't. Those people don't care about anyone but themselves and they need to be told repeatively about all the damage they are causing and how this is affecting many people. Seals are adorable creatures and I can't see why anyone would want to hurt them.
Posted by: Taren Fritzinger at March 26, 2009 9:01 AMwhat a fantastic organization. by wearing this t-shirt, people would be aware of this organization and what is happening to seals. This is unacceptable behavior and must be stopped!
Posted by: Sarah Urick at March 26, 2009 10:39 AMI personally, am Canadian, and knowing that this massacre is going on in my own country. Makes me ashamed to be a Canadian. I believe that a government that allows this to go on is full of sick and twisted people. It stuns me that these people have let the emotion of greed overshadow the love and compassion that is in the soul of every human. However, if the dedicated people of PETA continue to expose the government to the true horror that this seal hunt is, this love and compassion will begin to overshadow the greed. Call me crazy, but I truly think that in the end, love always wins, and this, and all animal cruelty will end.
Posted by: Jenn Gardner at March 26, 2009 2:27 PMI'm showing my support to peta and my objection to the Canadian Annual Seal Slaughter through song. I hope you like these lyrics i wrote =)
(sing to the tune of ‘Rockstar’ by Hannah Montana, it’s a little weird at the end because I had to shorten it.)
Sometimes I get a little sad
When people are treated bad, it just kills me.
Killing baby seals won’t make you cool
It’s not fashion it’s just plain cruelty.
And though I love Canada.
This is terrible.
We can stop it, just lend a hand.
Hundreds of seals are killed everyday
And I’m just dying to say.
Stop this massacre
Stand up and speak out
We need your support
So tell your friends.
Mommas are crying.
Babies are dying.
What evil monster does this to them?
So please help us bring this to an end.
Let us bring this to an end.
Help us bring it to an end.
This is not okay
And we know it
Where is the love now?
Cause you’re not showing it!
We can make the world
A better place to live in
Put down your weapons
Lift up your chin.
Use compassion everyday.
Don’t resort to hurting and pain…so
Stop this massacre
Stand up and speak out
We need your support
So tell your friends.
Mommas are crying.
Babies are dying.
What evil monster does this to them?
So please help us bring this to an end.
The Canadian gov't and any other gov't that promotes animal cruelty like the Canadian Seal Slughter is truely illigit. What type of gov't has absolutly NO VALUE FOR THE SANCITY OF LIFE? I am EXTREAMLY terrified that we live in a society where this is perfectly permisable. Where seals are being shot and are having their skulls crushed on the ice floes; all for the simple fact that SEALS ARE beautiful. And for that reason people seem to want to put such cute animals on them. How ignorant, heartless and stupid these people are. THE TRUTH IS IF WE DON'T SPEAK UP WE'RE IGNORANT JUST LIKE THEM AND THUS HAVE NO HEART FOR SUCH PERCIOUS LIVING CREATURES . And so, I strongly urge everyone to demand to end such ridiculos and ignorant acts.
i think it is really horrible i love animals so much and i feel the pain when i see them being hurt. i wish i could save all the animals especially the seals. god didnt put those beautiful animals on this earth for us to kill and beat them. they have no right in the universe to harm those seals. i wish i could go over there and save them all. i wish the people that harm them or any animal could be put in jail for doing that. the seals didnt do anything to anybody so they shouldnt harm them at all. its horrible of what is happeing and i want to help in any way i can i have gotten my family and friends involved to i have made a poster of saving them and some other stuff. but i am praying for them to stop hurting the poor little seals....

Posted by: christopher h at March 26, 2009 7:52 PMsome people must not have any hearts whatsoever to do such a horrible thing to innocent animals. what did the seals ever do to them? nothing. what troubles have the seals caused them? none. those seals are just like anyone else, trying to live their lives in peace. but their lives were taken away...all for some stupid, pointless entertainment. it's wrong on so many levels; it can't even be put into words. to be killed for such an insignifigant reason...it's absolutely horrendous. can't they see the pain tha the animals feel when they're beaten to death or having the fur ripped off their skin? can't they empathize with the children seeing their parents murdered right before their eyes? apparently not.

Posted by: A Casson at March 27, 2009 6:07 AMI am Canadian, and there are many people who live off of this, it is their income for the year, and they also eat the meat. Just like deers, rabbits, cows, pigs,,,
There are so many things I want to write here,,, but I will not because I do not want to open up a can of worms. Yes, baby seals are cute, and it is too bad that they are being slaughtered.
Seals have been my favorite animals.
Posted by: Timothy Sternberg at March 27, 2009 9:46 AMThe Seal hunt is awful. I can't imagine the type of person that does the job of clubbing? What must their home life be like? Are they loving parents/spouses? Are they vicious scociopaths? Are they just doing it to survive, but even so, there are so many more ways to make money to live.
I am such a sensitive person that even though I hate spiders and other bugs, I cannot even take their life. When I find them in my home, I trap them (all while being extremely terrified) and set them free outside. I just can't justify killing anything. I don't know how I'd be able to close my eyes at night and sleep if I beat seals to death for a living. Shame on anyone who does this! It doesn't make me feel better, but I know that Karma will exact it's power on them sooner or later
It makes me want to throw up

This is sick thinking. Canadians please wake up. You may be next. By the way there seemed to be a Big interest in folk obtaining these tee's could you not sell them for a nominal fee and put the monies to some good couse. Keep up the good work.

seals are by far my favorite animal and i would die to see this slaughter end. i hope to own a seal rescue center preferably in canada to help save the seals. i've already saved up a lot of money and i hope it might actually happen someday! right now i live in connecticut and when i see seals sleeping out on the rocks at the beach so peacefull and happy, it makes me want to save they're friends even more. i dont see how canada can continue this behavior after all the petitions and letters peta, hsus and the individuals have sent to them.
thanks for reading, i love the shirt
Wow i dont know how you can do that to seals o theyre so cute and they dont hurt anyone so why would you want to hurt them its like hurting children except seals can't yell and scream like kids can for you to leave them alone and they can never tell on you. This is so sad.
Posted by: Martha at April 20, 2009 6:02 PMWOW!
I DONT KNOW WHAT TO SAY REALLY BUT THE PEOPLE WHO ARE DOING THIS TO POOR SEALS ARE HORRIBLE! PEOPLE NEED TO PUT THEM SELVES IN THE ANIMALS PLACE. WHAT IF THEY WERE THE ANIMAL THEY WOULD REALIZE HOW INHUMANE AND HORRIBLE THEY TREAT THEM. AND THERE IS NO REASON TO KILL ANIMALS PEOPLE THINK THEY DONT HAVE FEELINGS BUT THEY DO! LIKE IF YOU BEAT A DOG IT CRYS. BECAUSE WELL IT HURTS THEM! THATS FEELINGS TO ME. BUT I CANT REALLY THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE TO SAY BUT THIS IS HORRIBLE AND THIS SHOULD BE AGAINST THE LAW AND THE PEOPLE THAT DO IT SHOULD GET IN SOME HUGE TROUBLE!
I persoanlly feel that what the canadians are doing to these poor seals are sickening, degrading, ignorant, abusive, terrible, horrible, dreadful, dire, ghastly, appalling, wretched, grievous, disagreeable, atrocious, outrageous, disgrceful, hateful, odious, bad, gruesome, immoral, unpleasant, undesirable, miserable, nauseating, detestable, despicable, unsavory, disgusting, obnoxious, distasteful, awful and unbelivably uncompasionate. I am one hundred precent sure that if the people who are doing this were put into the poor seals postion they would not find any of the pleasant. They would find it extremely troublesome. I do not see why people cannot wear fake skin of seals. Its rediculous. The people that are wearing the seals are even more coldhearted. I feel as if this should be put to a halt. It is unnessariy and completly sickening. It makes me nauseous just thinking about it.

When I first heard about the 'Club Soda Not Seals' campaign I got so excited!
Seals have been my favorite animals since I was 4 years old.
Seals are a big part of the reason that I went vegetarian and cruelty-free in the first place.
I am HORRIFIED by the treatment seals recieve for their skin, and I am continuing to urge my fellow students and people in my community to start buying cruelty free!
