UK School Gives Discount On Fees for Veg Students! February 25, 2009

If you're fed up of the factory farmed cow brains and the spaghetti and pig's "feet-balls" that your school serves up then get down to Gloucestershire where peta2 UK are giving top marks to Wycliffe College for offering compassionate, vegetarian students a 10% discount on school fees! The school has received a "PETA Europe Compassionate School Award" for their efforts to reduce the suffering of animals and teaching their students healthy eating habits.
Students who participate in the Vegetarian Scholarship programme stick to a vegetarian diet while they are students at the school. The college provides plenty of yummy veggie dishes for all students as part of its goal to help them eat a healthy and humane diet.
Studies show that vegetarian kids are slimmer, have more energy, and get better grades than their meat-eating peers. Each vegetarian saves more than 100 animals every year, and eating a vegetarian diet helps combat climate change, pollution, and rainforest destruction.
Now, if your name isn't Quentin or Farquhar then never fear, head to peta2's college section to find out ways that you can make your own school more animal friendly, or you can e-mail peta2@peta.org.uk (if you're in the UK) to find out how to get involved locally, and we'll also send you one of peta2's free veganize your cafeteria action packs!

Posted by: Amy at February 26, 2009 5:05 AMI'm really grateful that my school will always have a vegetarian and a vegan meal each day for both breakfast lunch and dinner. :) St. Andrew's Rocks!
