Katy Perry's New Year's Resolution: Going Veg? December 30, 2008

Hot or cold? Yes or no? In or out? Up or down? Um, if you're anything like me, that song is permanently ingrained in that special place in your brain that files catchy pop songs. Hey, no complaints from me! I love that file.
But while we're on the subject, how about omnivore or herbivore? According to this article, Katy Perry might be thinking "herbivore" for 2009! When asked about a possible New Year's Resolution, Katy apparently told a reporter:
"I try to want to be a vegetarian cause I know it would be more of a healthier option for me," then adding, "But I love chicken. I think I am just gonna try and be a healthier person and ya know think about my family more."
Katy is certainly right—being vegetarian would be a much healthier option, and now it's easier than ever! You can find Boca and Morningstar versions of chicken in just about any grocery store, and restaurants everywhere are serving fabulous faux meat alternatives in the place of animal flesh.
To give Katy some encouragement, we sent her a basket full of tasty vegan goodness (and a copy of Skinny Bitch, of course!) to encourage her compassionate New Years resolution to follow a vegetarian diet. We also sent Katy a list of vegetarian restaurants in every city on her January 2009 tour, so she won't have any trouble finding delicious vegetarian options while on the road. Nice, huh? We're hoping she goes through with her resolution—Not only would Katy be saving at least 100 animals a year by going vegetarian, but she would also be making her carbon footprint by reducing global warming!
Here's to a meat-free 2009, Katy!

I was just wondering earlier if she was a veg. That’d be really sweet if she did! She could influence a lot of people.

Posted by: jennie at December 31, 2008 5:22 PMOMG! I love Katy Perry! I sooo hope she goes vegitarian! Considering how huge of a star she is right now, if she became a vegitarian, she'd influence so many people to do the same! That'd be, like, such a huge step for the vegitarian world because all how admired her would want to be like her in every way! That would be awesome!
Posted by: Lizzy at January 2, 2009 1:47 PMYay!! I love katy perry and now I love her even more! I hope she keeps her resolution:)
Posted by: lynzee at January 5, 2009 3:58 AMI am not a big fan of hers, however, I do wish that she, like a lot of other people, would become a vegetarian. I just wish she wanted to do it for the animals, not just herself. For whatever reason she becomes a vegetarian, at least that is one more person to save animals.
Posted by: Alexandria P at January 5, 2009 7:45 PMI would love to see her go veggie.

Posted by: idk at January 15, 2009 4:45 PMSweet! If Katy Perry could actually follow through with this, she would influence hundreds of fans and maybe even make vegetarianism "cool" again.
Posted by: pinkdoggie7 at January 18, 2009 8:33 PMI love Katy. She is seriously my favorite modern artist. Her songs are so catchy. I love her. I'm already a vegan, and I really hope she goes vegetarian. That would be another reason to love her.

I hope she goes veggie. I don't like how one of her videos had a zebra in it though.
