Burberry: Stop Passing Off Dead Animals As Clothes! November 14, 2008
Posted by Rachel-O | Permalink | Comments ( 14 ) | TrackBackI love Sarah from peta2 UK! Last summer, we interned together and were pretty much inseparable, so it's no surprise to me that she is full of great ideas—including some ways to educate people about Burberry selling fur, and all the horrible ways animals are abused for the fur industry. Take it, Sarah!

If you haven't already seen the new peta2 feature on Burberry, then I can only assume you've been living under a rock! With a host of awesome bands, all completely fed up with Burberry's abuse of furry animals, Super Furry Animals (great name eh?!), Jamie T, The Rakes, Los Campesinos, Friendly Fires and The Wombats, have all joined the campaign against Burberry by signing peta2's petition urging Burberry to ditch fur from their collection.
It's like Christmas has come early for us here at peta2 UK with all these amazing bands showing their support and compassion for our furry friends! These guys know that animals on fur farms are beaten, drowned, and are killed by poisoning, anal electrocution, and gassing. These cruel methods are ineffective, and animals often wake up while they're being skinned. Check out the full list of bands who've signed:

P.S Who's your favourite band who's signed? I'm keeping it true to my homeland; Wales, and am giving my vote to the Super Furry Animals.
See? Isn't she lovely? But wait, What..? You haven't signed the petition already?! Do it now and tell your friends!!
Also, use one of the banners below, that I made, on your MySpace
or Bebo page and we'll gladly award you with 200 points!

OMG

*Huggles* for the fabulous Sarah!
And she's got great taste in music, my favourite band from the list are the Super Furries too :o)
I've signed the petition and added a picture to my Bebo page (anyone - feel free to add me as a friend!).
When will companies like Burberry realise that fur is cruel and unnecessary!?
Posted by: Little_Lotte at November 15, 2008 10:25 AMi hate the people who do this
poor poor animals
do the people ever consider the animals
NO they do not
those evil and heartless people
this is animal cruelty just like the slaughter houses
it is pointless and it really brasks my heart and makes me cry
It breaks my heart to look at that animals face.
Anyone who wears fur should be ashamed of themselves.
:( i get soo sad when this happens, why should the poor fox, or wolf or bear or whatever animal die, for the fashion!!! u fucking evil people!!! how would u like it if a fox hunted you down and skined u alive?!
Posted by: Michelle♥ at December 3, 2008 6:30 PMI am also in a band from wales, we are quite big in the welsh language scene, it's not much of a big deal but it's still something, i was just wondering if all of the band could sign the petition aswell as the other bands on the list.
We are all against using animals for testing, and using them as fashion items, it's disgusting what they do to animals.
I am the only vegetarian in the band, but we are all against using animals for clothing.
I officially hate Burberry.
I can't believe that before, I thought it was all innocent, usingn "normal" or "mainstream" material like cotton and stuff.
I thought it was all fake fur :S
They disgust me.
I believe that if you can respect people as people then you should do the same for any other living breathing creature.Animals can be so much better than people sometimes after all!I truely can never work in a place that harms animals in any way.I'd be so ashamed and guilty.
Posted by: William at December 26, 2008 9:09 PMANIMALS SHOULD HAVE THE DIGNITY AND RESPECT TO LIVE THEIR FREE LIFE. PEOPLE SHOULD BACK OFF OF THEM AND LEAVE THEM ALONE.
EVEN IN DEATH ANIMALS SHOULD BE GIVEN THE SAME RESPECT AS PEOPLE.
Posted by: avery AND DANA at January 10, 2009 10:44 PMIt is so sad that this happens! It's just so disgusting! Innocent animals being tortured, killed, &/or skinned alive is not fashionable!!!
If you wear a fur item, think about it as someone's dead dog, bunny, or a wild animal. And that's exactly where animals belong:the wild, someone's loving home,a zoo or sanctuary (when relocation isn't possible)that believes in conservation& education- not on someone's shoes or jacket!
was that a wolf or a dog....Canines need love too...
Posted by: wolf at January 13, 2009 3:59 PMseriously. It's as if you people actually think doing this will help even slightly. So, if you win, burberry take fur off of their lines, but how many more companies are using it?
As much as i hate to say it. its a lost cause.
Posted by: Steve at January 18, 2009 12:34 PMwhen i first heard about burberry, i was completely disgusted. It's disturbing to know that some people can look at an animal, possible with a smile and slit thier throats. I don't believe in the word "hate" but this is sometimes exceptable.
i have a poster i drew of a big riot holding up signs saying "Say No To Burberry!" and so on and so on about animals having rights and leather makes you the victim and it is honestly the best drawing i've ever done.
Regardless if there are many more fur industries, i think this is a fight worth working for and i think we can all make a difference.(:
