vegetarian northwestern colleges rankings UT OU
Well, if you attend one of peta2's Most Vegetarian-Friendly Colleges it will!
That's right, ladies and gents. After months of deliberations, we have finally released our 2008 nominees. Say it with me now: "Ooooohhhh....Aaahhhhh...."
Sure, I could just list off all of the amazing vegetarian and vegan options available in school dining halls across the nation (*cough* vegan chili cheese fries, Hawaiian veggie BBQ riblets, vegan enchiladas, vegan brownies *cough*), but I've found that pictures work sooo much better:

Vegan Pizza Margherita with Soy Cheese at Ohio University
Veggie "Chicken" Picatta Over Herb Linguine at Northwestern University

Vegan Brownies at the University of Texas
Doesn't that last picture just make you want to reach out and grab a bite?
This isn't a staring contest though! It's time to vote for the schools that you think deserve to win!
Click HERE (or on the bracket below) to pick your favorites now, and we'll even send you a FREE POSTER!

Aaaaannndddd... break!

Yes! One of the nominees is UCLA! I've always wanted to go there and I cant WAIT until I graduate. Not only do I love the campus (I've been there for their annual festival of books), but now I could have another reason to do everything I can to get into that school. GO UCLA! :D

Posted by: Little_Lotte at October 26, 2008 9:28 AMI always feel young when I visit this website, because I'm only in tenth grade. But anyways, being from a little college town like mine, being a vegan is really hard. Usually I tell people I'm a vegan i get dirty looks and cold shoulders. Even at supermarkets, buying vegan always gets me a few awkward stares. One of the worst things is school lunches. For a while I just sat around and complained about it while I ate my packed lunch. Then I finally met another vegan in my town! She had just moved from downtown [Cleveland] and was sick of being treated like this to. Now we are close friends and have converted a few of our friends to vegans or vegetarians. Once we got a good group of vegetarian / vegans, we stood up against out school. We broke the silence and started asking for vegan cooked meals. Nothing really hapened at first, but slowly and discreetly we started getting more vegan choices for lunch. Now me and my friends can eat without being stared at! I was so proud that something was actually done thanks to mr and all my friends!!

I live in Mexico, and my college has NOTHING vegan. After I showed other students the Meet your Meat video they told me they wanted to eat vegan lunches but it was hard for them to find them, so I got an idea. I'm selling vegan cupcakes!!! And they are big hit with my classmates. I'm using the money to get more stuff for different dishes and also to finally get the PETA's membership =)
