Music fur The Killers China Fur

I like The Killers just as much as anyone else. I mean, who doesn't like The Killers? You'd be crazy not to. I can't hear a song like "Mr. Brightside" or the new single, "Human", without wanting to indulge in my own personal dance party. So it goes without saying, that when I saw new promo photos floating around the internet of a band member draped in what appeared to be skinned animals, I was needless to say, bitterly disappointed as I'm sure were many.
What some don't realize is that fur isn't glamorous at all. Animals like rabbits, coyote, and even dogs and cats—are gassed, electrocuted, and even skinned alive, all in the name of fashion. When I see a fur coat, I don't see a fabulous luxury item—I see a graveyard on someone's back!
Now we know the Killers to be caring people (they even donated 100% of their profits from their Christmas single to charity, for crying out loud!) so we decided that there must be a mistake and wrote to the band (nicely, of course!), letting them know exactly what goes into the making of a fur garment, and hoping the fur in the promo shot was a (VERY realistic) faux fur alternative, and asking the band to watch undercover footage of just how fur is made.
The good news? Almost immediately, we heard back from the band's management who let us know that the fur was fake fur, and that the band is completely against fur. So, as it turns out, The Killers aren't glorifying the real killers after all, and I can rest easier when I listen to their fabulous cover of Joy Division's "Shadowplay."

I don't like their music much, but they seem like nice people. I will admit though to liking the new song human because it's pretty awesome :)

Posted by: Little_Lotte at October 26, 2008 9:08 AMim glad that it was fake, a lot of mindless drones follow what famous people do. if it were real fur some idiots would of started to wear real fur.
Posted by: meagan at October 27, 2008 10:36 AMwow I'm glad that the killers dont wear
reall fur cuz there a good band and
if they did wear fur that would be a
nother story but its all good cuz
i can keep listening to them
Not the biggest fan of thier music. But it wonderful that do not support cruelty!
Posted by: Crystal at October 29, 2008 2:49 PMI don't get fake fur. Why is fur worth faking? I don't know about you, but I'd never want people wondering whether my coat was a dead animal or not.
That being said, the Killers are my absolute favorite band, and I remain a tad baffled that a band "completely against fur" would want to risk the misconstrual of a fake fur coat. Fake or not, I still consider that coat a big mistake on the part of this usually fashion-conscious band.
Posted by: Paul Bethers at November 7, 2008 6:12 AMwauw im so glad i found this when i googled for the killers animal fur.
to set my mind at ease they are not wearing real fur from maybe a horrible killed animal..
i was scared a bit that i might be real fur.. but luckely..
now i even love them more :P
woohooo for the killers and living cute furry animals!
