Free Stuff Friday: New Cut Class, Not Frogs Shirt October 17, 2008
Posted by Marta | Permalink | Comments ( 233 ) | TrackBackWho doesn't love the "Cut Class, Not Frogs" slogan? It's catchy and draws attention to the animals who are killed for the dissection industry!
Considering we're smack in the middle of "Cut Out Dissection" month, it seems like the perfect time to give away our recently redesigned "Cut Class, Not Frogs" t-shirt!

It's available in either fitted/girly (yellow) or standard (blue). And if you're in no mood to mess around with a contest, you can save yourself the waiting and just buy one here. But hey, contests are fun, too, right?
To enter to win, comment below with one word you would use to describe how you feel about dissections.
This contest ends October 31, 2008 and one winner will be chosen and notified that same day since it's the last day of "Cut Out Dissection" month!
FYI, by commenting here, you're acknowledging that you've read and agreed to our privacy policy. Also by commenting, you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions.
Thanks and good luck! Now let's hear what you have to say about dissection.

P.S. Have you seen the new CutOutDissection.com site yet? It's awesome!

how can i only use one word!? Anyway I believe that dissection is : obscene.

Posted by: Kasey at October 17, 2008 10:40 AMDisgusting or cruel would have to be my main words to describe dissection.
I actually failed my biology class last year rather than dissecting, now i have to take it over in summer school before i graduate, but i'd much rather do all the paperwork than dissect!
While I understand the sentiment, I don't think its wise to encourage kids to cut class either. To me, education is one of the most important things that a child can get.
I'm sure that there is a better slogan that goes against dissection but doesn't promote absenteeism from classes.

Posted by: Aaron at October 17, 2008 1:36 PMSickening. The very idea that we are killing something just to let unappreciative, stupid kids dissect them is disgusting. I know for a matter of fact that most of the kids at my school are probably just going to screw around when we do this(just like they always do). So a life was taken for no reason.
Besides that, I think by allowing kids to dissect, you are teaching them that life doesn't have value. This will probably lead to even more violence, which we all know our society's youth has more than enough of.
I am a freshman, and i have dissection coming up this year. It would be freakin sweet to wear this to school just to make kids think twice before they participate.

WRONG AND UNETHICAL
i am very deprecate about this cause, dissection is dumb and stupid
p.s. im a size medium and i love the yellow one
last year in bioclass, we had to dissect a frog at the end of the year. when i heard this i thought it's either pass or fail cause it counted for the majority of my grade. yet i went to my teacher and told her that this was wrong and that i couldnt do this. i explained it to her and she understood where i was coming from. then she explained my arguement to the class and gave them the chouice to wither dissect frogs or not and the class decided to not dissect them.
Posted by: Edgar at October 17, 2008 6:56 PMi feel that when people dissect frogs of animals that it is sick and they do that in schools telling the kids to be animal crule. IT IS SO SICK AND GROSS!!

Posted by: Andrea at October 17, 2008 8:29 PMWAAA! I WANT THE BLACK ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!
One word, that's rlly hard!
but, well...
Useless
At the beginning of school one year, our biology teacher told us we had to dissect or we would fail (which is totally bogus because I didn't dissect and I didn't fail.) When it came to that time of the year, the teacher made a big scene and singled me and some other students out, and kept telling the other kids about how we wouldn't dissect. That didn't bother me too much, I'm always getting singled out because of my vegetarianism.
But what really bugged me was this kid who sat next to me was always saying how hyped he was about the whole thing and that "he'd cut open any animal dead or alive." Oh my god, he was so annoying, because everybody knew he was all talk. So one day I got a bunch of info and pictures on what happens to the animals they use for dissection and put it all on his desk.
I guess he got freaked out by it, because when the rest of the class finally did dissect, he was right along side those of us who refused, sitting in the computer lab doing a virtual dissection. He had absolutely no clue what it took to dissect, and eventually admitted that he was just trying to look cool.
Ugh I still don't understand how someone could say stuff like that just seem tough, especially because he was talking about dissecting other animals besides frogs. It was absolutely shameless.
Ridiculous.

Posted by: Shanna at October 18, 2008 12:35 AMCriminal
Criminal to the animals (usually frogs or rats) who were raised (quite inhumanely) to be cut up for absolutely not positive reason whatsoever. Criminal to the kids whose minds are being desensitized by the school. Criminal the way that this is stiff perfectly acceptable, and so many people just don't give a damn.

Posted by: chloe at October 18, 2008 3:29 PMTheres a chinook word that perfectly describes disection. Cultus. It means completely useless, devoid of its value, or something that has become worthless. Useless because a dead frog wont help us learn about the human body. Devoid of its value because there are so many alternatives. Disection had become worthless because we should know that any action that makes another seem lower than us (why dont we disect aborted babies?) in fact, really exentuates our thus dimished intellegence.

I agree that today there are SO many more alneratatives available that killing animals for "classroom learning" just shouldn't be toleratred!!
Posted by: Shelley K at October 19, 2008 12:17 PMDissection is a mirror.
It reflects the deterioration of morals and values in modern society.
It eludes me: the logic behind why people would rather murder and dissect these poor animals when they could just look at diagrams to learn the same material. What better exemplifies the lack of appreciation/respect towards life than dissection?
The fact that there are laws against having your car windows tinted a certain way, but no laws against the murder and cruelty towards countless animals really says a lot about how much the world needs to rethink it's values.

Cutting open and playing around and removing organs so we can "see how similair our insides look"? I'm sorry last time I checked humans are not frogs. We shouldn't give students an "F" for doing what they feel is right, the school has no right to make them do this horendous act. If they really want to see what we look like why not get a cadavier for all the students and have them play around inside of theat for a change? Or better yet, field trips to the morgue! Let's make this apoint that just because some people find frogs icky, doesn't mean that they don't feel, hurt and cry like we do.

There are other alternatives that can help students learn in the same way, such as the internet.

Immoral
We were supposed to dissect in school, they made everyone dissect worms too which I also believe is wrong.. even if it is "just a worm" its still life and its wrong to teach people to kill any life exspecialy in class when we should be learning about respecting life.
Even for a grade, Id rather cut class anyday.
