Halloween candy Free Stuff Friday Pangea
It's no secret that I love Halloween. Did you see my zombie costume from last year? It's also well-known that I could eat my weight in candy and sweets. Needless to say, trick-or-treating was a favorite childhood pastime. What could be better then a bunch of free candy?
I will tell you what's better: a bunch of free VEGAN candy! Check out this gorgeous basket from Pangea that we are giving away to THREE lucky mavericks!
Feast your eyes on: VeganSweets Caramels, "Vampire's Lunch" Gummy Candies, Orange Candy Tree lollipops, and an Endangered Species chocolate bar. All these candies are made without mashed-up cow skin, bones, cartilage, or bugs (nothing sweet about those ingredients), and they're not tested on animals (have you heard about Mars?)
It's going to be very hard not to choose myself as a winner . . . but I will resist, so comment below with your favorite vegan candy to win this basket of goodies!
You've got the weekend to enter because this contest ends October 13, 2008 and the three winners will be chosen and notified that same day! (We want to make sure your candy gets to you in time for Halloween!)
Just so you know...by commenting here, you're acknowledging that you've read and agreed to our privacy policy.

Posted by: Lauren Hoy at October 10, 2008 10:18 AMHonestly, I'll eat any candy as long as it's vegan. I mean If it's got sugar in it, I'll eat it.
What kind of candy maker morons test candy on animals?!!
I love Blow pops .

Posted by: cara at October 10, 2008 12:48 PMendangered species bar!!! totally.. these animals, and orangutans!! will be extinct, its not a may. its a WILL. but we need to stop that, and what better way than, chocolate !?
Posted by: emma at October 10, 2008 1:05 PMNice package. Does anyone know if the candy corn that Jelly Belly makes is vegan? There's no egg whites (yuck!) or honey in them, but I'm a little worried about the "confectioner's glaze". I think it might be made from shellac, aka, dried and ground up insects (double yuck!) Thanks if anyone replies.
Posted by: Megan at October 10, 2008 1:11 PMMmmm... It all looks so good, especially the Vampire's Lunch. I'm a former gummy bear addict, so it just looks... Wow.
Posted by: Christine at October 10, 2008 1:29 PMthe candy tree lolipops looks really good...but the endangered species chocolate bar looks more amazing....=]

Posted by: Sara at October 10, 2008 2:02 PMMy favorite vegan treat is probably sour patch kids. I get them everytime I go to the movies (along with a large popcorn, because the 'butter' is animal friendly). They're sweet, but sour at the same time. Yumm...
Posted by: Harley at October 10, 2008 2:41 PMI adore Jolly ranchers. I'm also deeply in love with vegan dark chocolate... Mmm... To be honest, I love every kind of candy (vegetarian, of course!) I have a sweet tooth... It can be bad, at times-but that's alright, we all have our weaknessess. ;-)
Posted by: Tauri at October 10, 2008 3:13 PMI have never had vegan candy but it looks so delicious!! i really hope i win and get a chance to try it

dispensers.
I'd love to try this!
Posted by: Denise at October 10, 2008 4:43 PMMy favorite vegan candy? Well, that's hard because I love all of them! But my all time fvorite? That would have to be Food Fight's Tropical Source Vegan Rice Crisp bars. They're delicious and addictive! And they don't test on aniamls either ♥ I can't comprehend why anyone would think that is okay! But I will try to make this shot and sweet, My other one, since i cant have one favorite :) is the Endangered Species Dark Chocolate (supreme or extreme I cant decide!) It is so good for me, the cacoa farmers,AND endangered species. I would love to try the new vegan candies in the gift basket as i am open to vegan anyting :) but will also respect whoever wins! After all, isn't the fact we all are helping animals the point?
Posted by: stèphanie at October 10, 2008 4:45 PMWhy do ground up animal parts have to be in candy when we have so many plant and manmade ingredients? My parents think I'm being obsessive but I think putting animal ingredients in candy is stupid, cruel and disgusting. I'm so glad Pangea also realizes that!
Posted by: Michelle at October 10, 2008 4:48 PMJolly Ranchers!!!
Posted by: Stevie at October 10, 2008 4:57 PMI'm a fan of Spree. I've tried the Orange Candy Tree Lollipops before & they were great as well!
Posted by: J Chaborek at October 10, 2008 5:01 PMI like Hot Tamales!(Actually I like any spicy vegan food.) I also like Black & Green's Dark Chocolate bars. I don't like candy that is like pure sugar and fake fruit flavoring.
Posted by: Emmejo at October 10, 2008 5:01 PMgood ole Pez
Posted by: Stephanie V at October 10, 2008 5:11 PMTHE ONE AND ONLY,
twizzlers.
Ahh yum, candy. I have to say, I must go with the originals. I love blow pops. I don't know why, I was just always into fruity candy. :) Vegan candy would hit the spot for Halloween. It looks so good. How can you not pick yourself?
Posted by: Katie at October 10, 2008 5:24 PMI'd say Caramels.

Posted by: Andrew Gordon at October 10, 2008 6:13 PMMy favourite vegan candy has to be Laffy Taffy! I know this is weird, but I love to put it in the microwave for a few seconds before I eat it so that it gets really gooey ahaha. Soo delicious. I've never tried any of the candies in the basket, but I'd love to!
Posted by: Emily at October 10, 2008 6:13 PMI love Cow tails candy!
Posted by: Chris at October 10, 2008 6:18 PMI've always, ALWAYS, loved pixy stix. It's pure sugar in a tiny little tube.
Greatest part about it is if you go all "Breakfast Club"(you know the scene, surely), on your food it tastes delicious!
...kinda odd how I'm known for my pixy "fetish" though...people can easily "bribe" me with one of the HUGE sticks. ^.^ but at least they don't bribe me to do evil!
I love dark chocolate, the darker , the better.
Posted by: Patricia Hill at October 10, 2008 6:27 PMomg i love all vegan candies. i esecially love sour patch kids and jolly ranchers. mmmmm DELESIOUS

Posted by: Kyle at October 10, 2008 6:37 PMthat is great
=D
i think it is so stupid how people have to use animal producrs, when they could just use things that don't harm animals.
halloween is one of my favorite holidays
i just found out that my favorite candy (hot tamalies) [sp?] are vegan =D
haha
My fave is Pangea's marshmallows, which I haven't been able to find in a while. I hope they didn't stop making them... I also like Kona Kava's chocolate chips. None of that bone-char processed cane sugar in those - bleh!
Posted by: Brandi R at October 10, 2008 6:46 PMOMG!!!!!!!!!!
BLOW POPS ARE THE BOMB
FAV VEGAN CANDY
I LOVE PETA
I heart gummy candy.
Posted by: Charlotte Winters at October 10, 2008 7:22 PMOoooh, I've always LOVED watermelon laffy taffy. It's so chewy and sweet, oooh I love it, I could eat it all day! Sometimes they've got those adorable little fake watermelon seeds in them that make it chewy AND crunchy!
It's great that companies now are making candy for vegans. I'm not vegan (yet) but I try to eat vegan three times a week and if I win this, Halloween will be no exception to the 3x a week rule! (:
Posted by: Lexy at October 10, 2008 7:41 PMCarmels I love anything with carmel
Posted by: Carol Foster at October 10, 2008 7:53 PMI would enjoy winning the halloween candy.

OH, and my favorite candy would have to be the candy that some people give out for halloween(ironic, right? heh.)
Its the little skeleton bones and their kinda hard.

Sweet tarts and dark chocolate. Woah I just gained ten pounds thinking about candy :)

Posted by: Lydia at October 10, 2008 8:46 PMlove the vegan caramels
Posted by: christopher h at October 10, 2008 8:49 PMI love, love, love carob-covered raisins. I can hear a lot of collective groaning out there, because carob has always gotten a bad rap. But I was raised on this stuff, so it is all about what you are used to. I also love fruit roll-ups which although technically aren't candy, if you are desperate for something sweet, they hit the mark.

I love sweadish fish! They are the most delicious candy every. The vampire lunch gummies sound tasty!!!!
Posted by: Iris Lang at October 10, 2008 9:09 PMjolly ranchers n blow pops :)
mmmmmmm lol
Posted by: kelsey at October 10, 2008 9:11 PMI wish I could post the name of my favorite vegan candy here, but I can't. I have lived in a fantasy world for some time of the seventeen years of my existence, but Peta has helped me realize the truth. You may call me naive for not knowing animal parts were put in candy-I could never even begin to fathom how something like CANDY could ever contain animal parts. I thought that was one of the things in which I could safely assume wouldn't contain animal parts, but obviously I was wrong. Would this necessarily be considered an entry, as I didn't post a name of my favorite vegan candy? Maybe not. But I would be interested in winning this contest so I could be aware of companies that don't contain animal ingredients. I'm sorry this is so long, but thanks for reading :)
Posted by: Lauren at October 10, 2008 9:14 PMMy favorite is dark chocolate. Yummm
Posted by: Anne Pichette at October 10, 2008 9:19 PMOH LORDIE LORDIE LETS SEE HEATH YUM YUM OR SMARTIES OH HELL JSUT GIVE ME A BAG FULL OF GOODIES FROM A TRICK OR TREATER

Hmm... I would have to say the Vampire gummy candy sounds the best. I'm a sucker for gummy candy, but vegan chocolate is good for the mood too :]

Posted by: Michelle Simons at October 10, 2008 11:10 PMMmm.. candy. LOL It's so hard to pick a favourite, especially with living next to a convenience store!
I'd have to say Maynard's Fruit Mania(specifically the grape and strawberry flavors!) for my fav vegan candy though, .. or perhaps Dinosours! I love turning over the package and seeing pectin and not gelatin(as well as lots of other animal bits and pieces)
Its so nice to know that going veg means that you can eat all the yummy stuff without having to have guilt and sadness to go with the candy
Posted by: Nicole at October 10, 2008 11:23 PMYummy
Posted by: Tiffany Ginn at October 10, 2008 11:28 PMI love celery. I use it to cook and I love to just eat it plain. My kids think I'm crazy because they don't like it. It has negative calories! Thanks for the great contest!
Posted by: Cori Westphal at October 10, 2008 11:39 PMI love Halloween! My favorite vegan candy is any Endangered Species chocolate bar that I can get my hands on! They are all so good, the packaging rocks, and it's awesome that 10% of the proceeds from each chocolate bar helps endangered animals!

Posted by: Tracey Byram at October 11, 2008 7:02 AMthe endangered species chocolate bars are amazing. Bats are such special creatures, as well as all of the others that are endangered, and deserved to be helped out. this chocolate goes for a great cause, and i'm always a sucker for the amazing pictures on the front. haha...in all seriousness, animals don't need to be put in something that we eat for our enjoyment. I would love to win these to prove to everyone that you don't need to ruin an animal's life to eat something delicious.
thanks
I guess that I never thought about animal parts being in my candy and snacks.

Posted by: christine at October 11, 2008 3:42 PMMy favourite vegan or vegetarian snacks are fruits, cause, people, when you live in Chile, your posibilities of finding something more sofisticated are practically 0. At least we are great fruit producer and they're cheap 8D (For example, one kg of apples costs less than one dollar, lucky me. *I hate apples*, and that's the same with all fruits and vegetables). But I'd love to try some of those things you have there. If I go to the States anytime soon, I'll buy lots of them to eat here.
