fur Fashion Week Donna Karan runway
When fashion designer Donna Karan unveiled her spring 2009 DKNY collection this Sunday at New York's Fashion Week, PETA was there with a protest outside and a bit of a surprise inside.

Some of my friends took over Donna Karan's runway show armed with signs that read, "Donna: Dump Fur," and chanting, "Shame!" Check out a photo and read some more here.
They were protesting because Karan used rabbit fur in her collection that is in stores now—despite her promise to stop using fur. The two protesters were quickly taken from the catwalk and arrested, but their message was almost impossible to ignore.
Is Donna Karan living in the Ice Age? Geez! Drop the fur, Donna! You're not trying to dress cave people.

How can anyone think there's profit or success in selling real fur? Another case of a brutal act that rich people do to be disgusting because they're afraid of changing.
Posted by: Allen Sentinery at September 10, 2008 12:32 AMI wish i could have been there! I was working :( Great work to all the activists.
Posted by: Stephanie Williams at September 10, 2008 10:39 AMlol thats awesome.
Posted by: cara at September 10, 2008 2:25 PMFur is so cruel; and besides it is definitely not a fashion statement. It makes people look fat and ugly.
Posted by: veggiegrrl69 at September 10, 2008 7:13 PMDonna is so mean. Poor animals. She should be arrested for animal cruelty!
Posted by: Dawn W. at September 11, 2008 11:20 AMDonna Karan sucks.
She might aswell have her models strutting around with live rabbits in their hands, then have them tear the heads off with their bare hands, then peel the skins off and sling it over their shoulders there and then.
It would be a bit like Robbie Williams' rock dj vid... but more depraved.
You know, PETA stands for people for the ethical treatment of animals, it should also stand for the ethical treatment of people. Crashing a runway show is no way to get your point across. As a vegan and a runway model, I find these antics to be childish, unethical, and low. In the future I hope you stay and protest outside without disrupting, as wrong as using fur may be.
Also, it would be awesome if you'd stop throwing flour and paint on people, that's equally unethical. Not to mention assault.

and i thought models were smart?
dear model, when one talks about the ethical treatment of people, it's usually in reference to fair renumeration, fair working conditions, human rights. crashing a fashion show is hardly tantermount to unethical treatment of human beings.
also, introducing oneself as a vegan does not somehow win you kudos. especially when you're probably just vegan to be fashionable and avoid gaining weight.
:D
ciao darling
