Your Yearbook Photo Can Help Animals August 12, 2008

If you're anything like me and the majority of people I grew up with, you've obsessed about what to wear on yearbook picture day. It's the photo that will live on in the pages of your yearbook forever. So why not incorporate animal rights into that picture? Think about it: Your message that animals should be treated better will be there for people to see over and over. What could be better than that?
Here's all you gotta do:
1) Grab an animal rights shirt, sticker, or button.
2) Wear one of the previously mentioned items on school picture day.
3) Smile! After all, you're an extremely pleasant person right?
4) E-mail StreetTeam@peta2.com letting us know how you spread the animal rights message in your school picture.
Once you e-mail us, we'll:
1) Give you 1,000 Street Team points.
2) Smile. It makes us happy when you help animals.
Don't have an animal rights shirt? Get a little inspiration and make your own!

when picture day finally comes around.
Which will be quite a while, since school just started today...
People in the UK will have to just use an AR badge as most schools insist you wear uniform.
Stephanie: If you have an AR t-shirt then why not try and get photos of yourself wearing it in as many different AR-related locations as possible (restaurants, outside butchers etc.), I'm sure Peta2 would give you points for that.

i would totally do this except for the fact that i can't get my picture taken for the yearbook because i have a lip piercing.....that's some crap right there.

God, I don't even want to think about going back to school; But when yearbook picture day rolls around, I will definitely do that.
and Noelle: Holy fucking shit, I didn't even know that was legal to 'not be allowed in the yearbook' or whatever for that. If my school told me that because of my lip ring, nay; my UNIQUE EXPRESSION OF MY INDIVIDUALITY I would shit a fucking brick.

but they never said anything about buttons or stickers so I will!
I have buttons I could wear and I think I have a few stickers.

I agree with Stephanie, we need to come up with more for homeschoolers. I feel like what I am doing is nothing. Plus I live in a rural area and it takes half a hour to get to civlisation. Then my mom wants to go in town and back out instently. I need stuff I can do for point from home.

I wish I could do this but I am stuck in the UK so we have to wear a uniform... and we dont even HAVE a yearbook!
We also arent allowed to wear badges etc unless they are for school... but they cant stop me writing PETA2 PETA2 PETA2 all over my pencil case, bag, books etc...
Good idea! I'll do that on the next yearbook picture day!

good thing i missed picture day last week or else i wouldnt have had this idea! so when retakes come around i will make sure i wear my WOOF! shirt :) which i love oh so much.

I still eat animals,but i know how to treat them right, i do beleive they are human also and somehow someday i had to adopt a little baby mouse since any other humane didnt worked

Awww. we just had picture day a few days ago. I wish I would of read this earlier. Maybe I'll get retakes and do this.

Posted by: Marlene at September 1, 2008 2:33 PMi totally did this it was really funny because all the teachers were looking at us funny! when i say us i mean the Vegetarian/Vegan Group that i started it consists of kids from school but we do regular activist stuff! we go to the petting zoos and stuff volunteer at Animal Welfare! and other fun stuff!
all 7 of us wore the shirts and it was SO FUNNY! the teachers were so pissed!

This will be a really great thing for me to do this year because I'm a senior and seniors have a special section in the back of the year book all about them and their pictures are bigger than everyone elses...maybe if I don't have another shirt before senior picture day I will wear my skelanimal shirt.

You know, I really wish you all would come up with a project just for homeschooled kids. I realize that homeschooled kids are in the minority, but almost half of the all the actions on the "All Actions" page have something to do with school.
Of course, I still think it's a great idea to spread AR news for other kids. Just, you know...I feel left out. =[
