So how absolutely badass are our friends over at peta2.de? (That's Germany, folks!) Answer? Completely badass. peta2.de have an amazing campaign that I want to show everyone - It's called "The Canadians" and it depicts a skeletal Canadian hunter that looks... well, strangely like a popular heavy metal icon. I'll give out awesome points to anyone who can name the icon I'm referring to!
So what's this Canada stuff all about? Well, every year in Canada, thousands of baby seals are killed by a method called "clubbing" (It's as awful as it sounds) for their fur. During the hunt, some seals are clubbed and skinned alive, even in front of their families. Even worse? The Canadian government approves of the hunt. Is this really necessary for vanity?
We don't think so, and neither do these guys:
So how can you help? You can help out by signing the petition against the brutal seal hunt in Canada, adding the MySpace page, wearing the shirt (they look just like band shirts!), and telling all your friends!

This campaign makes us seem like iggnorant mindless killing assholes! I dont like the seal hunt of course. But this name is so....dumb and mean! Its like calling the war "The Americans" or the killing of thousands of animals in your country "The Americans". Making you guys seem like assholes who like being cruel and killing. You should really call this campaign something else. Rise Against and Anti-Flag are my favorite bands but they should know what kind of image this puts on Canada. Assholes...

I am passionate about PETA and I'm Canadian, so the shirts hurt my feelings, sorry if that sounds pathetic, but it did. I'm doing all I can to try and stop this hunt, but seeing the Germany-PETA made video (which gave everyone up north the message that we were all cruel murderers)really sucks. Please try to steer away from naming all "The Canadians" as seal butchers, its upsetting and unprofessional to activists like me.

I think this campain would not work if you´ll call it
"The few Canadians". And not every japanese is hunting wales.
But thats the way of campains. Its´s great because now it´s time for the canadians people to stand up. To show the rest of the world that there are people against this cruelty.

this is edging on rascism, i'm dissapointed.
when peta2 say 'The Canadians' they're aiming it at the canadian government and not the canadian people, as im sure the majority of canadian people are against this cruelty. i am from england and peta2 also has a campaign towards the english government for the use of bear fur in the guard's hats, but it is not meant to cause offence to english people. this is the same thing.

When you have no means of other work, no means for an education, isolated, and at the mercy of your government what do you do to make sure you family has a the basic neccesity's of life? Some Canadians are so damn poor. Have you been to Newfoundland or Labrador, or nothern Labrador. Its horrible. So selling there ideals sucks but so do you.
