Veggie Guide to Going on Vacation July 15, 2008

Posted by Lara Sanders | Permalink | Comments ( 2 ) | TrackBack

me.jpgThis Friday I'm off to Hilton Head Island for some much needed vacation time. Right before any trip I take, I do a lil' research about the vegetarian-friendly restaurants that are going to be there (there is no way I'm going to be stuck with just side salads).

The first thing I do is check out Happy Cow, which is a great resource for finding vegetarian restaurants just about anywhere in the U.S.

The next thing I do is Google the name of the place where I'm going and the word "vegetarian" (i.e. "Hilton Head Island" vegetarian). You will have to do a little scrolling, but you usually find some good resources and reviews.

Another vacation tip is to take a cooler packed with veg snacks. Since I'm staying at a beach house with a kitchen, my cooler is going to be filled with Tofurky brats, Boca burgers, vegan cheese, and tons of fresh fruits and veggies that we'll get at farmers markets on the drive down—yay for Georgia peaches!

Are you headed on vacation this summer? Comment below with where you are going and include any tips you have for finding veggie food on the road.

xoxo- Lara

Great Ideas!

It is hard to eat veggie in unfamiliar places. Choices are getting better, but there is still room for alot of improvement.

Thanks,
Batya

We are headed to Hilton Head in a couple of weeks...I'm wondering if you discovered any gems in terms of restaurants or grocery stores while you were there? Thanks for any suggestions!
