Vegan Blueberry Pancakes at School?!? July 17, 2008
Posted by Ryan | Permalink | Comments ( 8 ) | TrackBackWouldn't that be a grrrr-eat way to start off the day? Well, if you go to last year's winner of our "Most Vegetarian-Friendly Colleges" contest, Northwestern University, that dream could be a reality!

It's not just Northwestern that's adding amazing vegetarian and vegan options though; it's a nationwide trend! Students are using the free and easy materials from our "Veganize Your Cafeteria" campaign pack to add AMAZING dishes to the menu!
So what we want to know is, how are the options at your school? Do you go to a school like the University of California - Berkeley, which offers Southwest tofu breakfast scramble, and vegan "chicken" nuggets? Does your school at least offer veggieburgers? Comment below to let us know. Make sure to mention your school name, and as many specific dishes as possible!

my school, Minersville Area junior/senior highschool, doesnt have any vegan options exept salads, they dont even have veggie burgers or soy milk :(
Posted by: hallie at July 17, 2008 4:35 PMMy school has yet to consider vegetarian options. They have all these tacky posters plastered 'round the cafeteria about eating healthy. I find this quite ironic, since I look at these posters, then notice someone walking by with a thick, greasy hamburger slapped on their plastic tray.

Posted by: at July 18, 2008 10:21 AMHa ha! I am a homeschooler and my mom's vegan too so I can get any thing vegan for lunch that I want.
Posted by: Emme at July 18, 2008 9:29 PMi'm staying at uconn for a summer program right now, and they have vegan options every day(and cleary labeled). i've had vegan chicken tacos, veggie burgers, chili, lemon chiffon pie and strawberry rhubarb crisp. no pancakes though.
Posted by: sarah at July 20, 2008 9:26 PMMy friend and I got my school to add veggie burgers to our school menu :] It's not on the menu everyday but it is about once a week. The thing is though, my school could have plenty more option if they just tried a tiny bit. They'll serve chicken and bean burritos which could easily be vegan without the chicken. They also serve baked potatoes and refried beans sometimes with cheese already on them! It's quite annoying.
Posted by: noelle at July 21, 2008 9:57 AMI'm a homeschooler too so it's really easy to eat vegan. Shepherd's pie, chili, fresh veggies, breads, brownies, cookies, pudding, nuts, fruit.
