Posted by Ashleigh | Permalink | Comments ( 758 ) | TrackBackI know that all of you have been taking advantage of the summer sunshine! Hopefully you have been taking care of your skin while doing so (ahem, sunscreen). I have discovered the joys of Ocean Potion, a cruelty-free sunscreen that can be found EVERYWHERE!
Even still, my favorite sun stuff is from Jason Natural Products (I'll admit it, I love anything organic). We have a Free Stuff Friday that I would love to win, but since I work for peta2, I can't. Sad! But that means all of YOU can win a prize pack including:
- SPF 26 Complete Block Spray (and there is no debate that spray sunscreen is the best!)
- SPF 20 lip balm (if you have ever burned your lips you know the importance of this one)
- 16 oz Aloe Vera Gel (in case you do get burned)
- 4 oz Aloe Vera Gel (which is great for traveling)
- SPF 46 Kid's Block (for people like me who need some extra protection)
- Quit Bugging Me Insect Repellent Lotion.

Five of you will walk away with this amazing cruelty-free prize pack! To win, comment below with why cruelty-free sunscreen is the only way to go.
This contest ends August 8, 2008 and the winner will be chosen and notified by August 15, 2008 (and you'll need to allow four weeks for shipping for your prize to make it to you)!

Why cruelty-free sunscreen is the way to go? That's easy! I only buy crelty-free sunscreen because I know no animal was hurt or killed to make it.
Posted by: cara at July 25, 2008 1:21 PMits the way to go because anything organic is better for you and the planet.
Posted by: Krystal deblasio at July 25, 2008 1:26 PMAWESOME! i burn easily
cruelty sunscreen is the only way to go because there's no reason to harm and animal while trying to protect yourself.
We live at the beach so I need this something awufl

Posted by: WENDY HORN at July 25, 2008 1:42 PMCruelty free sunblock is the only way to go because it not only helps to prevent skin cancer, it was not tested on poor, helpless animals. What other reason could you need?
Posted by: Blythe at July 25, 2008 1:47 PMthat is awesome! if i win it i would use it 24/7 well not really only when i go outside :D
cruelty free sunscreen is the only and best way to go. for everyone. you dont feel or imagine the poor little creatures that are experimented on each day just so other people can look good is totally not fail.
Well, of course it's the only way to go! Why would anyone want to cake on sunscreen that was tested on animals?
Personally, I need some more sunscreen, I'm about as pale as paper, and I have to use SPF 40+, but my mother tans a lot, so she could use the smaller numbered ones. And yes, I've had my lips sun burnt before.
Posted by: Amanda at July 25, 2008 1:56 PMcruelty-free sunscreen is the only way to. it protects you without having to abuse any animals, how can that not be the way to go?
Posted by: morgan at July 25, 2008 1:57 PMI'm fair skinned so I try to take care of my skin as much as I can. However, I live in a region in the Southern Mid-West that is very limited. Therefore, the products I buy do not always meet my standards. This product is amazing, even though I can only get it by ordering online. That's a small price to pay for taking care of your skin and insuring the safety of animals was kept. What else can a person need?
Posted by: Rhiannon at July 25, 2008 2:00 PMI'm spending my summer being cruelty free! thanks peta.
Posted by: tina at July 25, 2008 2:00 PMI am swimming with my grandkids every weekend so we definitely need animal frinedly protection. THey love animals and I teach them to be kind to them.
Posted by: Ana at July 25, 2008 2:01 PMI love it that it's not tested on animals. Good job.
Posted by: Angel at July 25, 2008 2:02 PMAnything we as a society can do to protect our animals while using products is humane. Thank you for this contest.
Posted by: Marilyn Wons at July 25, 2008 2:03 PMNo testing on animals is something I can get behind! Thank you for this giveaway!
Posted by: Deborah Wellenstein at July 25, 2008 2:04 PMEvery morning my son and I go to the pool. We could really use cruelty-free protection. It;s reall great that these products were made without harming the animals.
Posted by: Maja at July 25, 2008 2:04 PMIt is the only way to go because it protects your skin from the sun's rays, and no animals are harmed in its making.
Posted by: Sara at July 25, 2008 2:14 PMProtect yourself and the animals. Its a win win situation really.
You help from animals being tested on and you help your self from a (could be) long term, painful sun burn.
Again, its a win win.
Why is cruelty sunscreen NOT the only way to go? It should be. If I ever had animal tested sunscreen on, I'd feel as though I'm slathering on the blood of the animals that were tortured during the process of making it. Using it only promotes vivisection and animal cruelty.
Why promote torture and death while you could use something that is made out of organic products, that smell super-fantastic?
Why should sunscreens be tested on animals ....they don't need tans!
Posted by: Chrystal Davis at July 25, 2008 2:57 PMcruetly free sun screen is the only way to go because you should have to harm an animal so your own skin isnt harmed. kinda a double standard
Posted by: codi at July 25, 2008 3:02 PMThat's easy! By using cruelty-free sunscreen, you save the lives of hundreds (thousands?) of animals that would have been tortured and killed in the making of an otherwise awesome product. And you save your own life, too!
Posted by: kelly g. at July 25, 2008 3:18 PMIt is just good sense to not hurt animals in the process
Posted by: valerie mabrey at July 25, 2008 3:38 PMCruelty Free sunscreen is the way to go because,
while trying to protect yourself you should be protecting the animals which means, they should not be being tested on, buying crulty free products shows that you are against testing on animals.
because i know that a cute little animal wasnt tested on to protect my skin!
Posted by: mehek at July 25, 2008 4:07 PMThese organic and safe products are the way to go because they are cruelty free, so it's double awesome! Good for us, and not tested on any animals, so good for them too! :D
Posted by: April at July 25, 2008 4:09 PMIt's just plain better for you and the earth we live on
Posted by: Linda at July 25, 2008 4:13 PMWe need not harm animals for any reason! No harmful chemicals! I love and need some natural products!!!
Posted by: heather at July 25, 2008 4:16 PMCruelty free sunscreen is the only way to go for the same reason any other cruelty free product is the only way to go - because hurting helpless animals unnecessarily for our selfish purposes is WRONG.
Posted by: Kim N at July 25, 2008 4:27 PMNo other breathing being should have to suffer for another!!
Posted by: Stephanie V at July 25, 2008 4:40 PMCruelty free sunscreen is the only way to go because not only does using it protect you from being harmed by the sun but it protects animals from being uselessly tortured because, the more people who only use cruelty free sunscreen lowers the market for sunscreen tested on animals eventually making all sunscreen cruelty free. And not coming home from Warped Tour with blisters helps too.
Posted by: Lyiasha Gaines at July 25, 2008 4:47 PMI can't understand why anybody would want to use products tested on animals. That's just not right! Thanks.
Posted by: Donna at July 25, 2008 4:47 PMCruelty -free is the way to go since testing on animals is cruel, horrific and is totally useless. Companies that test on innocent creatures deserve no support. Only cruelty- free companies that have compassion towards the helpless deserve support. Animal don't deserve to be treated like crap because of heartless morons that won't use humane useful alternatives to animal testing that is actually useful.
Posted by: Natasha at July 25, 2008 4:48 PMI will only buy cruelty free products. And saving the planet and yourself, is not such a bad thing.
Posted by: Carrie at July 25, 2008 4:58 PMcruelty free sunscreen is the only way to go because sunscreen is essential to help prevent skin cancer, and it feels even better knowing that no poor animal suffered to make it.
Posted by: charlotte webb at July 25, 2008 5:29 PMOh my gosh! Crulty free products are totally the way to go i mean is it really worth killing an animals to protect your skin when there are so many other options! I want to win this because i love animals and i only use products tested on animals when there are no other products and i curently have sun screen that i think is tested on animals!
Posted by: Gabby at July 25, 2008 5:46 PMCruelty free sunblock is the only way to go because HELLO!! its cruelty free!! lol and because its probably a lot healthier for your skinn!! and animals:D
Posted by: charity at July 25, 2008 6:22 PMWell, first, duh, its cruelty free, and anything cruelty free is the way to go. Second, because my sister is allergic to sun burns, and my father and grandfather have skin cancer, I know how important it is to apply sunscreen. Finnally, when you have healthy skin, you have beautiful skin (isn't that what everyone wants now a days?
Posted by: Sierra at July 25, 2008 6:45 PMI don't want my gain to cause any pain

Posted by: Rozie H. at July 25, 2008 7:16 PMcruelty free for me at all times
Posted by: susan varney at July 25, 2008 7:16 PMIm obsessed with vampires, that's why Im always taking care of my skin, it's gotta be as withe and soft as possible!
Unfortunately for me, my parents never listen my arguments about cruelty-free products, so I have 2 options:
1.-I don't go out in the sun.
2.-I use their products.
Of course, I take number one.
I think everyone should buy only cruelty free products, they don't have to make a great effort, do they?
It's an easy way to help, but ppl is so dumb sometimes!!!
^^
Nice cruelty-free vampire pack!
Grrr!

Posted by: Carolina Tovar at July 25, 2008 7:27 PMI surf almost daily and the last thing I need in my eyes or in the environment is more chemicals. There is enough crap in the water as it is :(
Posted by: Debra Casey at July 25, 2008 7:33 PMIts the only way to go because, it doesn't hurt those poor little mice and monkeys that are constantly getting tested on. Also its proof that you don't have to test on animals to get a great product.
Posted by: chelcie at July 25, 2008 7:45 PMof corse cruelty free sunscrean is the way to go.
you can protect yourself and animals at the same time!
it's absolutely amazing
and anything organic sounds great to me.
and as far as the lip balm goes, if there's cruelty in your lip balm then it's almost in your mouth.
so that's pretty close to eating meat.
grossse
so use only cruelty free sunblock etc.
Its simple, cruelty free sunblock is the only way to go because it doesn't hurt animals. There is absolutely no need to hurt an animal so you can protect yourself. While you are protecting yourself from the sun you are hurting and damaging an animal. So, theres no point in using it. On the other hand, by using cruelty free sunblock you are protecting yourself and at the same time not hurting any animals at all.
Posted by: Liberty at July 25, 2008 8:19 PMumm, because its good for animals
Posted by: Adrienne Gordon at July 25, 2008 8:28 PMCruelty-free sunscreen is the only way to protect yourself from the sun because, well, if you can enjoy yourself in the sunshine while knowing what's protecting your skin hurt countless other creatures in its development, you're just not human.
Posted by: Telyn at July 25, 2008 8:51 PMuuuuhhh, how cool, cruel free its so cool to look at a product and see those four precious words "not tested on animals", or even "cruel-free", it puts a big ol' smile on my face to know that no animal could have possibly been hurt because seriously there really is no point in animal testing, thats so un-necessary! Along with that it helps prevent skin cancer, and!! its organic and i love organic stuff and anything organics has to be benificial.
Posted by: Esmie at July 25, 2008 9:06 PMlove the natural part and I use sunscreen yearround
Posted by: sandy at July 25, 2008 9:08 PMI wouldn't dream of hurting any animals nor testing on them. All natural is the way to go at least I know whats in the product. Animal lover at heart that lives next to the beach.
Posted by: kelly at July 25, 2008 9:17 PMomg, i have been looking for cruelty free sun and skin care every where!!!!!!!! its the ONLY way to go!!!this stuff is better for you, the planet, and of coarse animals!!! yay!!!

Posted by: Melissa Reeder at July 25, 2008 9:29 PMCruelty free is the only way to respect all living beings on the earth, including animals. Especially in something as necessary as sunscreen.
Posted by: Sara at July 25, 2008 9:37 PMYou get such a great feeling when you purchase cruelty-free products because you are supporting a company that cares about the planet and all living things so of course it is the only way to go! When you purchase cruelty-free products it spreads the message of peace throughout the world, what could be better than that?
Posted by: Lena at July 25, 2008 9:56 PMCruelty-free is the only way to go because I'd rather get burnt than torture animals by buying an animal tested product! I only buy cruelty-free because it's not acceptable to make protect ourselves using products that put animals in danger!
Posted by: Angela at July 25, 2008 9:58 PMProducts do not need to be tested on animals!
Posted by: Elaine at July 25, 2008 10:07 PMCruelty-free ANYTHING is the way to go. Why should anyone, person or animal, have to suffer when we have the technology to test out products? Why can't humans take responsibility for the things they make and use, and test it on themselves? Animal testing is no different than what the Nazis did to the Jews.
Posted by: Caroline Morin at July 25, 2008 10:15 PMCruelty free works way better than anything tested on animals and testing on animals is completely unneccesary. Plus i live on a city that's only connected to the usa by two bridges so i have a beach to visit everyday.
Posted by: Jasmine at July 25, 2008 10:29 PMCruelty-free sunscreen? Wow! It can't get any greater. What better way to save innocent animal AND the planet? way to go!
Posted by: Hali at July 25, 2008 10:48 PMCruelty free is the way to go because animals react to chemicals differently than humans do, so what's the use of testing a product on rabbits? Rabbits to my knowledge don't wear sunscreen, so why bother testing it on them? It's like testing dog food on humans!
Plus, what's better than going to the beach, looking good, and FEELING good because you know you're promoting cruelty-free living?
Posted by: Rebecca at July 25, 2008 10:54 PMBecause it's kind.
Posted by: brandy at July 25, 2008 11:05 PMCruelty-free sunscreen and other products are the only way to go for many reason. One, because they arent tested on poor little animals just for our benefit, two they are better for the enviroment which also helps the enviroment, and last they keep us happy without the unbeneficial factor of animals or the enviroment. No cruelty or harm is done to any animal and we still get amazing sunblock.
Posted by: tiffany langreder at July 25, 2008 11:27 PMBecauce cruelty-free and organic should be the standard.
gkstratos@ yahoo.com
Why? There is no reason for animals to hurt for us just to feel good. Cruelity-free is the best way to go, and if you can't, just go with out sunblock! It's better then hurting animals.

Posted by: Hayden at July 25, 2008 11:52 PMSunscreen is meant to prevent pain, so why should animals suffer, wouldn't that be hypocritical, even if it isn't from a sunburn?
Posted by: Amanda at July 26, 2008 12:22 AMcruelty free is the only way to go because there is no reason to test on animals when products can be made and tested other ways.
Posted by: jeanne at July 26, 2008 12:36 AMcruelty free is the only way to go because its very wrong to test on innocent animals.
Posted by: at July 26, 2008 12:37 AMCruelty-free sunscreen is the only way to go because you don't have to feel guilty while using it. No animal deserves to be tortured for a person's own selfishness, especially when there are more humane alternatives. If there are any means by which I can help the fight against animal cruelty, such as using cruelty-free sunscreen, I will be ecstatic to do them.
Posted by: Mindy Rietkerk at July 26, 2008 12:53 AMYou shouldn't harm animals for any reason.
Posted by: Joanna Allison at July 26, 2008 1:15 AMI'd like to try 'em
Posted by: Linda at July 26, 2008 1:30 AMCruelty-free sunscreen is the way to go because cruelty-free anything is the way to go. There is no excuse for harming animals when there are so many humane alternatives available.
Posted by: Kim at July 26, 2008 1:49 AMCruelty Free sunscreen is the only way to go because :
1. It ensures that no innocent creature was killed or hurt in making or testing it. It makes me feel guilt free to know that no animal was harmed to ensure that i wear sunblock safely.
2. It also helps prevent skin cancer. It's also much better because it doesn't contain harmful chemicals that will harm my skin.
So cruelty free is the only way to go cause it helps you help the animals and the planet.
Posted by: Sharanya at July 26, 2008 1:53 AMCruelty-free sunscreen is the way to go because sunscreen is used very often to protect humans from the harmfull rays of the sun and it is unfair to protect humans while harming inoscent animals. Cruelty-free sunsceen is the way to go because it is safe for both humans and for animals
Posted by: Amanda at July 26, 2008 4:09 AMAWESOME! Sunscreen that makes it so I don't turn pink and is still entirley cruelty free?! That's just to good to be true! Hooray for lack of skin cancer and lack of tests on animals!!
Posted by: Katie at July 26, 2008 4:23 AMcruelty free sunscreen is the way to go because animals should never have to suffer for us to not get sun burnt. Animals have to go through enough suffering, and just buying something that was tested on animals is just terrifying. I love everything natural, and its helping the animals and the earth. There is no sense of animal testing to benefit us to smell good, or the type of clothing that we wear.

Posted by: Catherine at July 27, 2008 11:14 AMThe reason Cruelty free sunblock is so important to me is, because I know that no animal has had to suffered. It makes me so sad to think that they do so much horrible things to animals just so that we can look good or feel good, which doesn't make me feel good at all to know what they have done for that one product. I love animals and I want to do whatever I can to help them not be mistreated, so this is one step closer to helping animals and I think that is great!

So, basically no one gets hurt.
I hate any product that uses animal testing.
Posted by: Terri D at July 27, 2008 3:04 PMWhy cruelty-free sunscreen is the way to go?
Completely easy.
Because no animal was killed or harmed to make it,
No animal had to suffer for our use of it.
No animal was tortured for human use.
Which any animal that has to go through that,
Probablly feels horrible.
And it's wrong.
We are out alot and having suncreeen and these type products are important to us.

Posted by: Abii at July 27, 2008 5:05 PMCruelty free is the way to be because, it's our fault the sun's intensity is rising by the year. It's not the animals' fault, so why should they have to suffer for something that benefits, not them, but us?
Posted by: yukari at July 27, 2008 5:44 PMCruelty free sunblock is the best because its not only good for you, its good for the poor animals that would have been tested on if it werent for this stuff! SAVE THE HELPLESS!
There is no need to test sunscreen on animals. We don't need 50 different kinds of sunscreen. One or two cruelty-free sunscreens should do it for the world. Animals aren't the same as us anyway. WE DON'T HAVE FUR. Plus we have different skin. I think the whole thing is pointless. I don't know about everybody else, but everytime i put on sunscreen lotion i don't want to think about animals being tortured.
Posted by: Emily Perez at July 27, 2008 6:43 PMCruelty free EVERYTHING is the way to go. I don't see why it should be tested on animals, since the animals aren't going to use it, and it's so easy to find great cruelty free options like this one.
People wear sunblock to protect themselves from the sun, and save the pain of a sunburn. Well, the pain an animal suffers from being tested on is fas greater than a burn. It's just not fair, and it's completely unethical.

This means that I use A LOT of sunscreen and that would mean that A LOT of animals would have to be hurt or killed in the making of something I need. Posted by: Christina Mansky at July 27, 2008 9:56 PMI think that cruelty-free sunscreen is the only way to go because it seems hypocritical when you are trying to prevent skin damage to yourself but you use a product that hurt an animal while it was being made.

Posted by: Angela at July 28, 2008 12:54 PMWHY? Simple, you are helping animals who have to suffer for our products, you help the planet become a safer and healthier place, and you are helping your own body by knowing exactly what you are putting on it instead of trying to pronounce some long words that are just secret codes for "UNHEALTHY!". If you are pale, like me, you know just how important it is to wear sunscreen so, why not make the better choice?
Posted by: Emma at July 28, 2008 1:06 PMWhy should we use cruelty free sun products? It's because there is no need to hurt or kill animals to make products. We need to vote with our dollars to put an end to hurting animal at all.

Posted by: sarah at July 28, 2008 2:03 PM Cruelty-free sunscreen is the only way to go. It's benefitial to you, the planet, and animals alike.
First off, it's better for your health. It prevents skin cancer while keeping your skin a healthy colour. Also, doesn't fair skin just look better??
Second, it's better for the planet. Supporting companies that test on animals supports pollution.
Lastly, it's definately better for animals. I mean, how would you feel if you were trapped in a cage with little to no room to move all your life without an explanation, and these creepy people forced you to do painful things that caused seizures, blindness, or even death when there was actually no need for it??
In conclusion, cruelty-free sunscreen is the only way to go. It's better for you, the planet, and, of course, animals.
Cruelty Free is the only way to go because you have confidence using it knowing that no animals were hurt in making these products and you can just overll feel better. Thanks a lot for a great opportunity!

Posted by: Jennifer at July 28, 2008 5:36 PMI think every kind of skin product should be cruelty free. Why put animals through torture when companies can test their products on humans willing to volunteer for cash? Plus, if humans were tested instead of animals, reactions can be more exact, and companies can alter their products by the actual verbal responses people can give them.

omg i was lookin 4 creulty free sunsblock since im the only person who wears it out of my friends and it can sometimes seem like the only 1 who cares 4 animals!
Posted by: at July 28, 2008 6:41 PMCruelty-free sunscreen is the best and only way to go for multiple reasons. The most obvious is that testing on animals is wrong and we, as humans, should respect other species rather than exploit and torture them. Also, it takes energy to raise animals, and then using those animals only as testing devices not only wastes that energy, but puts it toward something cruel. I wouldn't want to be used a testing site for chemicals, so why should I support those actions toward other sensitive lifeforms?
And the organic stuff is an extra bonus! No synthetics!
Knowing that I'm not only protecting my family but also protecting some innocent animals would make anyone feel good!

Posted by: at July 28, 2008 10:02 PMWhen I hear cruelty-free sun screen, it's not the product application thats so aweful but how much sun exposure is the poor animal getting and we all know how sun-screen feels when it gets in your eyes. Everyone has different skin types so why would anyone think that animals would compare. Animals should not be used for any kind of testing that causes harm or pain. Check out what Iams dogfood is doing, its horrific.
Posted by: ronda at July 28, 2008 10:13 PMusing cruelty free sunscreen is the way to go becaue first of all what i think is that not all people use it i mean i do all the time but not alot of people do so whats the use and plus when you test on animals your not always gonna get the same outcome as you would on humans we are all diffrent so yeah stop being cruel and wasting your time being cruel to animals they did nothing to hurt you so why hurt them?

The other products that are made while animals are being tested, just don't cut it for me FIRST something is being hurt in the making and SECOND it doesn't always protect you, you still burn well thats the case for me. Almost every organic product that i've used i havn't had the same problems. I'm just thankfull that i have these opportunities to win these products!

Posted by: Savannah at July 30, 2008 9:40 AMThe sun is nice and hot
For humans, pets and everyone
That's why we need a screen for the sun.
But for some animals it's not.
They get treated very bad
They have to suffer
as a creature buffer
They test sun screems at their body and head.
So don't be vain
Don't think only 'bout your own health
Animals are not our wealth
They also feel pain!
Cruelty free sunscreen is the way to go because it's stupid to use any other.
I don't tan at all, I just burn, and I'd rather use cruelty-free.
You're hurting animals to protect yourself. It's silly :)
Cruelty free sunscreen just proves to everyone that you dont need to kill or harm any animal to make a product when there is a more humaine way to make one that works just the same, if not better. To use animals to make sunscreens and cosmetic products is extremely selfish. because its using helpless animals for use for their own benifit to make yourself look good and people dont even think twice about how it is made because they dont care. so this product should show to everyone out there who thinks animals dont matter. Cruelty Free sunscreen is the only sunscreen i will use because i know i am doing the right thing by using it and saving an animals life.

Posted by: keesha easley at July 30, 2008 12:28 PMCruelty-free sunscreen is the only way to go, for many reasons:
Why would you want to put DEAD animals on your skin, as a result of animal byproducts in the sunscreen?
Do we, as a society, REALLY need to test on animals? I mean, they don't benefit from the sunscreen, they're only hurt by it, and this testing proves absolutely NOTHING.
Why not start "testing" on humans, who actually have a say in the matter, and can opt-out of testing if they're not comfortable with it. At least that way, we're not hurting innocent animals, and humans will actually benefit from it, because we'll know the effects of the product and how it works.
It basically comes down to this: why do you want to hurt an innocent being, just to protect yourself? Would you kill your child, if it meant saving your own life?
Posted by: Bridget at July 30, 2008 12:30 PMBuying Cruelty-Free sunblocks makes you a responsible consumer. Personally, i dont feel right about wearing anything that an animal suffered to produce. Personally, I'd rather get burned than wear sunscreen that's been tested on an animal or one that has animals ingredients in it. (And guess what, I ALWAYS BURN. Not to mention, I'm super allergic to regular sunscreen and I can only use chemical-free, sensitive skin, PABA-free stuff.)
So natural is definately the way to go, especially when natural doesn't invovle hurting animals.

Posted by: rita at July 30, 2008 12:59 PMIt's important to buy cruelty-free sun care products because I don't want to get burned, but I don't want to be responsible for supporting companies that chemically burn (among other things) animals to test their products! I choose to use the product, most animals don't have a choice.

Which means no animals testing, and the workers who produce it are treated fairly. Jasons' products fulfill both of my requirements, so that rocks!! Needless to say, I need to pick some of that stuff up =]
Posted by: Stes at July 30, 2008 1:08 PMCruelty-Free Products of any and all kinds are an absolute necessity in this day and age. these mean cruel tests. All animals have feelings. Why put them thru this if you don't have to? Animals should be treated good. they should not be killed or sick thru these mean tests. Thats not the kind of life they should have. They should live a happy life nuturaly. you will protect your skin and the animals by not testing on them! it also doesn't have any chemicals that could harm the planet and the animals. Go organic and cruelty free for the planet and the animals.
Cruelty free sun care is the only way to go because it's important to keep ourselves safe in the sun, but not at the expense of animals. Our safety shouldn't depend on animal testing and cruelty; there are other ways to go. I'd rather stay inside than make an animal suffer for my sunscreen.
Posted by: Nicole at July 30, 2008 1:48 PMUsing cruelty free sunscreen should be just part of a bigger lifestyle change for everyone. I'm changing my family's way of life for the betterment of our planet and its inhabitants, human and non :) We should all do it!
Posted by: mels at July 30, 2008 2:01 PMCruelty-free sunscreen makes sense because sunscreen is absorbed into the skin, so why would you want to be sucking in dangerous chemicals?? Posted by: Betty Ing at July 30, 2008 2:01 PMThese products are meant to be used as preventative and protective measures. In our attempt to protect ourselves from a potentially hazardous environment (that we as humans have a huge hand in propogating), I think that it is not only a choice to use cruelty free products, but it is imperative that we do. While we try to protect ourselves, we have to be conscious that we are equally protective of other beings that share our planet! Our world cannot take one more inconsiderate, selfish, cruel footprint if we are intending to live in a loving, peace-full world.

Posted by: Angela at July 30, 2008 2:13 PMIt's selfish to test products on animals when in reality they are so much different than humans. If the scientists aren't willing to test it on themselves, then why use the product at all? It's so ignorant and cruel for them to treat animals in such harmful and unfair manners, to make products for humans, which is why i think its wrong to use products tested on animals wether it be makeup, hair care, body care, etc.... There are so many great products today that aren't tested on animals that you can buy! So why keep buying products that treat animals extremely poorly? I think it's great that you're giving away these great products! It can open up people to new cruelty free products and show them that a product that wasn't tested on animals can absolutely work for humans!
Posted by: Sophie at July 30, 2008 2:13 PMWhy cruelty sunscreen? Because I chose to live a cruelty free life! Animals are not our to test on, they are here to be appreciated as the beautiful creatures they are. Posted by: Tzeitel at July 30, 2008 2:14 PMCruelty-free products are the way to go because animals have had absolutely no part in the testing process, which means more care has been put into the making of the product and the efficiency of it for human consumption.
BASICALLY, the product itself will work a million times better because it was made for HUMANS, and the animals are safe.
Because, honestly, what good does testing on animals do? We're not rabbits...

Posted by: Brenda at July 30, 2008 2:19 PMThere are a ton of great reasons to use products such as these...
1. Supporting the companies that produce natural and cruelty-free products--like J/A/S/O/N--is great encouragement for those companies to keep up the good work!
2. Buying from companies that don't test on animals is the only way to encourage companies that do test on animals to avoid the unnecessary torture. (Boycotting the organizations we don't believe are responsible--in whatever way--really does work if everyone gets involved!)
3. I've heard that sunscreen is the #1 way to protect ourselves against skin cancer. (One time I laid in the sun without sunscreen and fell asleep; needless to say the sun poisoning was very painful and very unhealthy.)
4. Sunscreen is one way to aid in the prevention of wrinkles, leather-like skin, sun spots, and the loss of pigmentation in the skin (often caused by severe burns). Those of us who care one iota about our looks can benefit from regular sunscreen use!
5. It has been said, "The true measure of a society is by how it treats its [defenseless]." Animals are one of the most defenseless of creatures.
6. Last but not least, there is no reason why my vanity, or even my health, should be more important than the life and suffering of another one of Earth's creatures. (It reminds me of a quote I love regarding the magnificent whale: "He hath no enemies, save man.")
In peace, Emily

Cruelty-free sunscreen is the only way to go, because everyone needs sunscreen to help protect them from sun damage and skin cancer, but most sunscreens still impilment the use of animal testing for their products. This means that many animals are tortured and harmed in order for the companies to know their products are safe for human use. This, however, is a trial and error type process, which results in pain and injury for many animals.
By using cruelty-free sunscreens, you can take comfort in knowing that you are not only using a product that is safe and will protect you from sun damage, but that you are also using a product that used alternative means of testing to determine that their product was safe, and that no animals were harmed in the process.
Is there any other way to go?! ;0)
Posted by: Liz at July 30, 2008 2:27 PMCruelty-free is the only way to go. I don't want to save my skin by harming another being's skin. Perhaps one day, the term "Cruelty-free" won't even be necessary; it will be the status-quo.

Posted by: Davina at July 30, 2008 2:51 PMPeople deserve only the best cruelty-free skincare products just as much as animals deserve freedom from becoming testing subjects for product companies! I love Jason's Tea Tree Oil Hand & Face Wash so much that I bought it for every bathroom in our home! Posted by: Kelsey Keohane at July 30, 2008 2:55 PMCruelty Free Sun Screen?? Why not!! It's helping to save not only our skin from harmful UV rays, but its saving the life of an animal as well. Just recently I looked at a list of products/brands that test on animals; I didn't know over half of them. With so many products harming animals, its good to know that people care enough to keep them safe and cruelty free.
Posted by: at July 30, 2008 3:01 PMObviously, you need sunscreen and bug spray during the summer. I know that i've gotten plenty of bug bites from walking through the park with my mom, and sunburn from going to waterparks. I also love organic stuff, which means there's no chemicals or gross stuff in the product, though I wouldn't recommend eating it to see if it harms you or not. What tops off these products is the fact that it is cruelty-free! No animals were harmed in the making, which means that the company basically saved tons of animals from what their fate could have been!
Even if people claim that saving all the animals being tested by humans would flood the world, nature has always worked for us, like how the organic elements of this package are so much better for us than other sunscreens! So push people into getting organic sunscreen, it's one more step towards helping the precious animals of the world! ^^
It's the only way to show the asshats that DO test on animals that it does't pay. It's just not what we want. We're not going to give them our money. No way.

Posted by: Rosalie at July 30, 2008 3:07 PMSunscreen isn't like make up where you don't actually need it. When it's hot out and the sun is out you can easily get burned by the sun without protection against it. Sunburns have a chance of even leading to skin cancer.
If you are a girl you probably where make up. A lot of the times you wear make up the company you use sometimes tests on animals but you may still use it.
Sunscreen is the same but you actually do need it when it's hot and like you probably don't want to use something that has been tested on animals.
Anything and everything we use to enhance or preserve our beauty should be cruelty-free. It's a no brainer! Testing on animals is simply unnecessary! PS. The SPF 46 Kids Block will be great for my dog! Her ears get burned without SunBlock!

Posted by: Kimberly at July 30, 2008 3:16 PMHeck, cruelty free is the ONLY way to go when anything relating to your body is concerned! You don't wanna know that a little wascally wabbit had to die of skin eczema or a rash, or his little furry ball of a tail shed all its hair because of an allergic reaction to the ginkgo, worse still that it caused him a brain hemorrhage, just so your skin could look tan and glow-y in the autumn months!
When you're out wearing your sunscreen and enjoying your daily Vit-D dosage, you should think of cheery thoughts and picture fields full of daisies with kittens and little hamsters runing about ... Not tiny sulking critters because no one's there to speak up for them, and stand up for their basic right to bask in the sun, sans beta testing the product itself!

Posted by: Lauren at July 30, 2008 4:00 PMAs Mary Schmich always said "Wear Sunscreen." Her beautiful poem gives many examples of the power of that wonderful lotion. So why not stay healthy while being in style, and more importantly cruelty free. Being in a family of 100% Irish ancestry gives me double the reason, and a history of skin cancers gives triple the reason to wear sunscreen. It's pretty simple that everyone needs to use sunscreen and buying cruelty-free makes such a difference. One may compare using cruelty-free sunscreen as a small difference, a drop of water if you will. Everyone knows though, that that drop of water can make a waterfall with everyone else supporting it. If a big impact can be made just by changing sunscreen to make animals lives better, then why not slab some on and feel good about it?
Posted by: Bailey at July 30, 2008 4:02 PMAsking why cruelty-free is the only way to be is like asking why ice cream melts in the heat. If products need to be tested to make sure that they are safe for humans, Shouldn't we be testing them on humans. I am sure alot of people would be willing to try new products if it meant one less animal would be tortured. How about "lifers" in prisons. Why not test on the murderers and rapists of the world. I figure as tax payers we are paying for them to be in there so why not use them for something worthwhile!

Posted by: Linda at July 30, 2008 4:08 PMCruelty free sun care or any cruelty free products are the best because there is NO reason to hurt an animal just for the benefit of humans. Let's all give the animals a voice!

Why shouldn't it be?
It is not tested on animals which is amazing in itself.
But the sunscreen part also helps prevent skin cancer.
This stuff is just win-win situation!
A double win if you will
Cruelty free should be always, not just certain products! I can't wait until it gets so mainstream all products will be required to be such. It's not fair to test on animals ever for something humans are using! What's the matter with some people? Heartless? Just Sickening. I'm glad people are bonding together to raise awareness and STOP THE CRUELTY!

Cruelty-free makes sense because, If an item can be manufactured with being tested on innocent animals, why would you support the companies that support animal cruelty???
Posted by: at July 30, 2008 4:23 PMThese products are the way to go because testing on animals is just plain wrong. Our genetic makeup is quite different than that of animals so why would you even trust the findings that are a result anyway? I am all about animal rights, like many say, they have a voice too.
Posted by: Emily at July 30, 2008 4:26 PMThis ought to be common sense! If you are going to be protecting yourself from UV harm, why not try to protect animals from human harm at the same time?! Posted by: Michelle at July 30, 2008 4:31 PMGetting out in the summer sun is great, wether it's for a day at the beach, or a day volunteering at the local farm sanctuary or animal shelter. However it is nothing that is worth blinding bunnies or hurting other lab animals over. Thankfully, in this day and age, cruelty-free sunblock is quite accessable, so there is no need to resort to animal tested products to help protect your skin.
Posted by: Kathleen at July 30, 2008 4:31 PMthe reason why cruelty-free sunscreen is the only way to go is because no animals were poisoned/tortured/abused to provide humans a way to protect their skin from the sun with wonderful products such as these -- it's that simple (c:}

I actually didn't even know that they were until i read this. But i'll think twice before the next type of suncreen I buy!

Posted by: stacey dempsey at July 30, 2008 5:25 PMOrganic ruelty free sunscreen is probably one of the most important things to me. I am a competitive surfer and travel all around, I am constantly buying many different types of sunscreens to keep me from burning and trying as hard as possible to find organic, cruelty free brands. Although, many countries I travel don't offer these. Even many areas in the states don't offer these brands. I refuse to sacrifice my beliefs to keep my skin from burning. But while I'm protecting these animals I'm also doing damage to my skin, refusing to wear other nonorganic brands. I'd love to be in the position where I can both protect animals and the environment and protect my skin. I surf everyday and at the young age of 18, my skin's endured some serious burns. Winning an organic, cruelty free skincare kit like this will help me tremendously, and help the environment. Plus, I will use it to promote an organic, cruelty free line to fellow surfers at contests or on the beaches around the world :)

Posted by: Bella at July 30, 2008 5:36 PMCruelty-free sunscreen is the way to go in many ways. Firstly you have the whole basic health factor to consider, as we all know that over-exposure to the sun can lead to skin cancer. Therefore, it is really important that everyone uses sunscreen to avoid putting themselves at risk, and not to mention the fact that sunburn is not a pleasant experience – red, sore and irritated skin, no thank you. Then, of course, you have the wonderful experience of knowing that no animals have been harmed to ensure that you can safely bronze yourself over the course of the summer. We all know that animal testing is not only cruel but also really unnecessary. Do I have the same skin as a cow, or a dog, or a monkey or a rabbit? I don’t think so – for a start I am not furry and therefore, it is completely stupid to think that animal testing is of any benefit to the consumer at all. Ok so I am being blatantly opinionated here but if I wasn’t going to be opinionated I wouldn’t be hanging around on the peta2 website.
So yes, not only do these products rock because they keep you safe in the sun but also because they ensure that Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail (and all other wonderful animals) are kept safe and out of harm’s way to. Sun protection, without animal testing, that sticks two fingers up at the companies that claim animal testing is "needed to ensure product safety" – bloody marvellous if you ask me.
Rant done :-)
Cruelty-free sunscreen is the only way to go because cruelty-free is the only way to go with anything! Why test on animals? I say that if it's that important, find a way to simulate whatever you need to test on. If you use something that has been tested on animals, you should feel guilty about the sweet, innocent animals that had to go through hell just for you to use a product.
Posted by: Tara at July 30, 2008 5:44 PMTo begin with, there is no need, I repeat no need to test on animals. If we are that unsure of the results, use a brain, don't do it. That said, everything we need is provided for in nature, man in general feels they need to take things to the ultimate. How can we make this super powerful with out making someones head explode and then they come up with the bright idea to test on animals?? If your that gunghoe on creating a new product, drink it yourself, If you live then maybe we'll buy it. If we chose to use cruelty free products exclusively, the manufacturers would have not choice but to follow our lead. Results. less if not no pollution, less if not zero toxic exposure and living creatures can resume normal lives. Normal is not chained in a cage, tortured, abused and killed! Would they treat their friends and relatives this way!!

Posted by: Jackie at July 30, 2008 5:58 PMHow could I protect myself by using products that I knew hurt other animals? It just doesn't make sense. It seems ironic to protect ourself with a product that hurt others. Posted by: Kerri at July 30, 2008 6:47 PMcruelty-free sunscreen is the best choice for skin care products because worrying so much about your own skin and not that of other sentient beings is selfish and in my opinion, rather heartless. This is not to mention that cruelty-free products are most often made with organic or all natural ingredients, so you don't have to worry about cancer-causing parabens, artificial fragrance, and/or artificial colors - which are sometimes derived from animals! Since we're talking sunscreen here, why would you choose to wear it in order to stave off skin cancer from harmful UV rays, only to put yourself at risk with cancer-causing parabens and other harmful chemicals?! Buy cruelty-free and live guilt-free!!

Cruelty-Free sunblock is the way to go because why use something a poor animal had to die for, when you can go cruelty free and protect an animal while protecting yourself!
OF COURSE THIS IS AMAZING! Animals don;t need to try our stuff. I don;t think it's accurate anyways. Even if it works for an animal, then why would it work for humans? We're different! And since animals can't choose for themselves or speak out when it gets uncomfortable, It's totally unfair to test on animals! Testing on animals is beyond me. What idiot thought that up?

Posted by: Carmen at July 30, 2008 9:15 PMCruel FREE sunscreen is an essential part of a regular summer day. It deffinatly wouldnt be if it wasnt cruel free because everyone knows its much better because its nice, much healthier becasue no one wants to have poor defensless animals blocking them from the sun, its cleaner because it doesnt burden your soul with filthy shame and guilt, and its more fun and relaxing because you know what you are wearing and how its saving an animals life or helping it out just a little bit.

Posted by: Kelsey at July 30, 2008 9:22 PMPersonally, i think its stupid to test products for humans on animals. it doesnt make any sense because, we are all different, and we are all VERY different from animals, we react differently to things, and our skin is different than an animals skin. It is so cruel that they test on animals for the littlest of products, such as sunscreen or even shampoo. Technology is so advanced these days that they shouldnt even have to go near an animal to test products on it.
Thats my personal opinion.
And its so sad the way that society ignores such a cruel and devistating industry.
Testing on animals isnt even worth the product if thats the kind of company that they are.
It's Organic...Healthy animals, healthy earth, equals healthy me. Need I say more?
Posted by: Elaine at July 30, 2008 9:23 PMHow many mice or rabbits have you seen with a sunburn? NONE! Posted by: lizzie at July 30, 2008 10:06 PMAfter all, isn't protecting our animal friends as important as protecting ourselves? CRUELTY-FREE! THE ONLY WAY TO GO!
Posted by: Sherry Brooks at July 30, 2008 10:17 PMUsing organic products means that animals' homes and bodies will not be polluted by our "need" to add chemicals to just about everything. Only buying and using organic products, would also help us prevent further damage from being done on our environment. Therefore also helping animals impacted by climate change. And of course, do you really think it's good for your body to be absorbing all those chemicals?
Animals should never have to suffer for our benefit. It's not our right, as humans, to torture those who most certainly don't deserve it and who cannot speak up for themselves. That's why products of any kind that do not test on animals, use anything derived from animals and are 100% organic are without a doubt the only way to go.
When it is possible to make animal cruelty-free products, why would anyone use anything in which numerous animals have had to endure heart-wrenching abuse and die for such a frivilous cause?

seriously, if you don't getting burnt and you willingly sit out in the sun, what makes you think that animals like being tested on?

Posted by: jodi at July 31, 2008 3:29 AMWhy is it important to use cruelty free sunscreen? This question should be so obvious to so many people, but, sadly, it's not. Humans need to be protected from harm, but so do animals. Isn't it just a little hypocritical that we hurt animals so that we can keep ourselves out of harm's way? What gives us the right to stay safe from harm but not care if an innocent animal gets hurt in the process? And, honestly, is it really that hard to move your hand over one tiny inch on the shelf to get a sunscreen and in the process save an animal? No. It's not. I'm not posting this comment to win the free stuff. I'm posting it to be heard. After all, even one voice makes all the difference if people choose to hear it. Please buy cruelty free. It's just the right thing to do.

mmmm..cruelty-free suntan would be great!
Posted by: Joanna at July 31, 2008 4:51 AMIs there any other way to go? can you justify taking the skin of the back of an animal to save your own skin? animals need their skin as much as humans do, so protect yourself as well as all other animals by making the right decision! cruelty free all the way!
Posted by: Carlos Oliveira at July 31, 2008 5:35 AMthis is a very good example of good working not tested on animals products
I don't understand why people would ever make product that are tested on animals..
like miss something always says: I want worldpeace, we say: I want a cruelty-free world!
You can test those products on me and leave the furbabies alone. I'm a better judge of their quality. :)
Posted by: Jen Davis at July 31, 2008 6:19 AMWhy use cruelty-free suncreen? Because regular sunscreen does not come with a free bottle of anti-SHAME. I love those product, I mean they are the best out there... and I know what I'm talking about, I've been working outside for many years now... and when you can't stand your t-shirt... sunscreen is needed!!!
Posted by: AndreQ at July 31, 2008 8:56 AMCruelty free sunscreen is the ONLY way to go because it's better for animals and your skin-- you know what is in it, not some crazy amount of harmful chemicals they "need" to test on animals to make sure it's safe for people! It's always better to use what we know is safe rather than play around with potentially harmful things-- there's always a natural remedy that won't hurt you or animals!

Posted by: surfer13 at July 31, 2008 9:22 AMThis is way cool! I burn so easy in the sun and knowing that it's totally cruelty free makes it even better to use.
Posted by: Katherine at July 31, 2008 9:27 AMCruelty free sunscreen is the only way to go because unless you like the idea of cosmetic testing on animals where bunnies get their eyes filled with artificial chemicals, then it just makes perfect sense. It's not necessary with the technology we have today and besides those tests aren't even equal in comparison to what they would do to humans. Humans have tear ducts, bunnies don't. It's cruel, its unnecessary and as far as I'm concerned the government should just ban it altogether. Besides, cruelty-free products tend to be less irritating to your skin and smell nice too. :)
Posted by: Michelle at July 31, 2008 9:31 AMOf Course Cruelty Free is the only way to go. To protect ourselves we should not have to sacrifice other living, breathing creatures.
Sunscreen is SO important, especially when we have dog adoptions this time of year and the only way to get the dogs any exercise is for the volunteers (even the ones like me who HATE the sun and the cancer causing rays it has!) to walk them outside in the sun.
It would also be great advertisement for this product to be sitting with our educational info on adoption days!
You no, i would rather die myself then have 1 more animal to die and get hurt.
Posted by: Sarah at July 31, 2008 9:42 AMI love JASON products. I totally respect this company and have been using their stuff forever! Cruelty-free products are the way to go - if more companies would use natural ingredients, they wouldn't need to be tested on animals in the first place. Kudos to JASON for keeping it real.
Posted by: Sparky at July 31, 2008 9:47 AMusing cruelty free sunscreen is one of the easiest ways to help stop animal cruelty, it's the little things people do that are helping to stop companies from testing their products on animals. Posted by: Erica at July 31, 2008 10:14 AMLearning how they burn animals to test sunscreen made me sick-especially because sunscreen is essential to a pale gal like me. Finally, though, we have some great options for sun protection that are cruelty-free, and they are definitely the only way to go!

Putting something that has been tested on animals is like taking the blood of that animal and putting on my kids...GROSS!! I only use cruelty free products so this pack would be great for me!! Also, then if I need too I can use it on my animals instead of them being sacrificed for the other crap thats out there. My sister has a potbelly pig...so we need stuff like the bug spray for him...don't want him getting bitten up as much as I don't want my kids getting bitten up!!

Posted by: Heather M at July 31, 2008 12:10 PMIt is important to use only cruelty-free sunscreen because you're ensuring that your purchase is supporting animal rights causes in a fairly simple but effective way.
Posted by: Mary-Ann at July 31, 2008 12:16 PMCruelty-free products are the way to go. Getting a sunburn is not fun for us just how being tested on is absolutely horrifying for animals! But the difference: We choose if we want to get a sunburn. Animals don't choose. They aren't asked if they want to be tortured. They are demanded, for their whole life, to be tortured and put through enormous amounts of pain. Think of it this way:
- Companies that test on animals are the sun.
- The animals are us, being attacked by the sun.
- We are moving towards becoming their complete sunscreen, protecting them from cruelty.
Cruelty-free is the way to be!

Posted by: claire woods at July 31, 2008 3:03 PMCruelty-free products are the best choice because they help us save thousands of animals by not testing on them! :D Sunscreen is very important to protect the skin and since summer is here one can't go without it. The fact that this product is cruelty-free is great because we can protect our skin and save the cute little animals that we came so much about! GO CRUELTY-FREE PRODUCTS!!! :D
Posted by: Eva at July 31, 2008 3:05 PMBy putting on sunscreen thats been tested on animals you are putting a statement all on your body that says all you care about is your body, your skin, and if you don't burn. It is very rare to see someone at the beach putting on any type of cruelty free product. It's just like putting dead animals on your skin! Do you really want to smell like dead baked animals?! NO! So everyone should switch to cruelty free sunscreen, and put out the message to stop animal cruetly, even the smallest thing, like switching sunscreen helps. That's why cruelty free, is the way to be. :)
Posted by: Ashley at July 31, 2008 3:13 PMthis is the only way to go b/c it will protect from skin cancer and i wont feel guilty about having to use sunscreen that was tested on animals those poor defensless animals who is going to protect them but us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Breanna at July 31, 2008 3:39 PMWell why would anyone NOT use cruelty free products?
i mean really. its so pointless, because if a product NEEDS to be tested on an animal, that means it most likely has harmful chemicals, which isnt good for you, or the environment.
Besides, animals love their life as much as i love mine!
And we all, (especially me) need to protect our skin. so it just makes sense that the sunscreen we put on our bodies should be cruelty free and organic.

Cruelty free products + no skin cancer = no brainer.

Posted by: Sophie at July 31, 2008 5:14 PMCruelty free sunscreen is the only way to go cause we need sunscreen to stay safe in the sun. But we shouldn't be forced to choose between our right to stay safe and healthy and the animals right to be safe and healthy, this is what makes cruelty free suncream the only way to go!
Posted by: Amy at July 31, 2008 5:19 PMCruelty-free sunscreen is the only way to go!
We all NOW know that if we spend all our time in the sun without sunscreen, the potential for skin problems and eventually death is a reality.
Even from thousand-year old tales we have learned that people who protect their skin live longer.
As humans, we spend our whole lives learning new ways to prolong life by taking care of our health and staying active both mentally and physically.
We have the ability to do amazing things, which includes judging how people, animals, the earth and the universe all work together. We know by now that we all do this differently, and it's often hard to agree.
But I think we all agree that if we found a way to stay healthy, happy, and live longer, we would try to make it possible!
Sunscreen is one small way to do just that.
So don't animals deserve even the slightest bit of the same consideration we give to ourselves?
We can prolong our lives yet not even give other creatures the opportunity to live their own short lives? I don't think so!
Not to mention, we already know how to make sunscreen! It works! It is NOT going to kill us:)
So what further testing is needed? There is not one good reason to perform a test on an innocent creature for something we already have.
I was supposed to comment, and instead I wrote an essay. Cruelty-free sunscreen is the ONLY WAY TO GO!
cruelty-free sunscreen is the only way to go becasue if you dont use it animals will get sunscreens tested all on them and if they eat it they could die which is even worse
so cruelty-free is the only way to be
I don't think we have the right to hurt animals, whether for testing or eating or whatever. So cruelty-free is the only way to go.
Posted by: Margaret Haffner at July 31, 2008 6:59 PMCruelty-free products are definitely a great role model for all of the other thoughtless and cruel product businesses. No animal should ever be used for the sole selfish purpose of a money hungry businesses prosper. Animal rights baby!!!!!
Posted by: Robert Briles at July 31, 2008 7:11 PMNon-human animals don't need sunscreen. As we all know testing products on animals does NOTHING positive for the animals or for humans! Non-human animals react in a completely different way to products than humans do. So, testing on animals is bogus, and for Burning Man this year I am stocking up on all the vegan sunscreen I can get my hands on; not only for me, but for everyone else who is coming with me too. Vegan is the only way to be!
Posted by: Lisa at July 31, 2008 7:50 PMCruelty free is the only way to go, and if it is protecting your skin too, thats just an added bonus!

I don't even have ANY sunscreen at my house and I'm working outside of my house, so the sun is frying my skin...well it's dark already since I'm Native American, hey a cruelty-free Native? There aren't many of those...so it's win-win I keep things cruelty-free and I'm not being cruel to myself by not having any sunscreen at all...if you don't believe me I'll have to get out the before and after pictures!
Posted by: Natasha at July 31, 2008 8:10 PMwell we all know that it's important to wear sunscreen and protect ourselves from the sun, but just because we need to take care of our skin doesn't justify cruelty to animals. i'm pretty sure we would all feel better if we knew we were being safe, while being cruelty free :) that;s why cruelty free sunscreen is the only way to go.
Posted by: ashley at July 31, 2008 8:28 PMCruelty Free sunscreen is the way to go for one simple reason, you shouldn't have to torture and kill innocent animals to protect yourselves. There are other testing methods, there is no reason for them not to be used.

it isnt fair.but with these products you help save two lifes..
It is very important to use only cruel free products. It is so extremely painful for aniamls to get tested with stuff for us...If so much more people cared and started not to buy products that are tested on animals then there would not be any buisness for these hugh manufactors. Its so disgusting what greed can do to the human spirit.
Posted by: mary at July 31, 2008 9:00 PMWe all know it's never good to test on animals. They've done nothing wrong, and deserve to be treated better than they are. Aside from that fact, there are plenty of other reasons why cruelty-free sun screen is awesome.
The major one is the fact that there are plenty of disgusting chemicals in other sunscreens that you don't want to put on your skin anyway. Who knows what adipic acid/diethyene glyco/adipate crosspolymer is anyway?
Honestly, if you don't know what it is, you shouldn't put it on your skin. With cruelty-free sun products you get the same amoiunt of protection without the harsh chemicals since they have to be sure it isn't going to cause a bad reaction with your outer epidermis. Therefore you know your skin isn't absorbing something it shouldn't be absorbing, making you happier, healthier, and sunburn free. What more could you want from a product? :]
Buying cruelty-free does your body good! Sunscreen will protect you from those cruel UV rays while protecting animals from being used to test your sunscreen!
Posted by: Laura Regalado at July 31, 2008 10:01 PMI use sunscreen everyday and I was never aware that it could have any links to animal cruelty and I bet I'm not the only one. It is senseless to harm animals when we can have sun protection products like these.
Posted by: Bethany at July 31, 2008 10:29 PMIt just doesn't make sense to test sunscreen (or anything, for that matter) on an animal. How can a bunny, monkey, cat, whatever have the same reaction as a human? It is insane to subject them to pain, burning in the eyes, etc. while it doesn't even give conclusive proof that it will (or will not) happen to a human. We have different reactions to things than animals! It makes me really angry when people try to say otherwise because they haven't said one thing to completely justify their ludicrous claims.

IN fact cruelty free EVERYTHING is the only way to go. in a perfect world we would all be part of nature and there would be no such this as animal farms and animal testing laboratories.
I've seen footage from inside animal testing labs and it is really not pretty =[ these poor animals are tortured on a daily basis, all for the sake of getting the "perfect" shade of lipstick?!?
Not worth it.
No life is worth the torture animals who are tested on experience.
I love that there is some cruelty free sun products!! maybe i can finally get a tan...
o.0 or not.
lol
Cruelty-free sunscreen products are the only way to go because we want to protect ourselves from harm, and in doing so we shouldn't then endanger another species.
Posted by: Sara at August 1, 2008 7:10 AMCruelty-free sunscreens are the only way to go! Why test on animals anyway? You can save your skin just as easily by not hurting animals with just as effective products. People just have to be aware and stop supporting companies that continue to test on animals. Posted by: Amanda Kelly at August 1, 2008 10:31 AMMy mom and dad are not always firm believers of vegetarinism, veganism, and cruelty-free products. I'd like to show them that by using cruelty-free cosmetics you not only feel better about the choice you made, knowing you didn't harm any animals along the way, and also show them that these products work just as good if not better than a product tested on animals!
Cruelty-free is definately the way to be, now we just have to inform the rest of the world of our so called 'little secret'.
I would love to use this Cruelty-free sunscreen because it is beneficial for everyone. No animals are tested on, and there are no toxins in the sunscreen. And well sunscreen is good so we don't get burned. =)

Posted by: Kirsten at August 1, 2008 7:10 PMThis product made a right choice of making it cruelty-free. I would hate if someone took an animal and tested it on an animal an then kill them. This product is meant for us and our skin. Their fur is not even close to our skin. They should test it on themselves and do tests on the product in an animal safe way because, it's not going to be on their skin in the future but ours.
Posted by: Yesenia at August 1, 2008 7:43 PMIt's good for humans, it's good for animals, and it's good for the planet. This is a no-brainer!
