Helping Horses in NYC June 17, 2008

Posted by Marta | Permalink | Comments ( 4 ) | TrackBack

The peta2 summer outreach crew spent some time off from the usual noise of music festivals and hit the streets to inform people about the way horse-drawn carriages are inhumane for horses and dangerous to people. After collecting over 1200 signatures against this cruel industry we were convinced people of all ages everywhere care about animals and want to help in any way they can.

If you're curious about what you can do to help, you can start by signing the petition against horse-drawn carriages on NYC streets, and if that's not enough, if you live in the NYC area, shoot us an email and maybe donate some of your time to help us talk to people about this mega-important issue! It's as easy as holding a sign and watching the crowds gather to sign up to help horses!

For another easy way to help these horses, copy and paste the code below to add a banner to your page.

This past week was alot of fun for us and now we're looking forward to getting back into some noisy festival venues, so be on the lookout for a peta2 booth at a show near you!

I've already signed the petition and sent several letters but, as I live in the UK, this seems to be all I can do.

I was wondering if Peta2 has any leaflets/posters about UK beach donkeys?

What you do here is propaganda! Carriage horses are generally treated VERY well, what you do is take the one or two cases where they're not or where they get hurt, and make it sound like its huge, when it's NOT. I'm an equestrian myself and own an off the track thoroughbred, and I'm not saying I don't care for the horses wellfare, I'm saying that what you do here is silly. All you do is make a fus and pitch a fit, then run around with signs making yourself look idiotioc.
