Free Stuff Friday: 'Friend, Not Food' Tee May 16, 2008

I think animals are friends, not food because they are so adorable! No matter what animal they are, be it chicken or a little puppy, they love you unconditionally. They have hearts of gold and all animals deserve to have the best out of life :)

Every since i was young ive loved animals, ALL animals. My mom says i was went to a crocodile sanctuary and insisted that we adopt a baby crocodile. My dog and my cat was and are like my baby brothers. I would never dig a fork into my older brother or any human and eat them so why would i eat an animal? Animals are friends not food.

There are so many resons why animals should only be for friendship purposes and not food. The very basic reason for me is that all animals can still feel pain and suffering just like humans can, so why should we have the right to put them through all of that just because we are supposedly 'the top of the foodchain' Another reason for people who are not quite so concerned about the welfare for animals, is that the conditions animals in the meat industry live in, can affect the meat. Animals can get sick and get illnesses caused by the terrible conditions. This is particularly obvious in chickens. There are usually so many animals in a small space that they cannot move around freely and are forced to live in their excrement. The urine has ammonia in it which burns their skin and this is why some chicken has really red or even black parts to the chicken. Chemicals are then pumped into the carcass to get rid of the burns. Animals also can get cancer, using a source I heard about from peta2, a man bit into a steak and there was a tumour in it, and it burst in his mouth and he got blood and puss all in his mouth.

Finally, my conclusion to this, is animals should not be used for food, because they can be better friends than most people. Animals provide a source of comfort to anybody who is not afraid, they are cuddly and cute, and I really cannot understand how anybody can be so cruel as to hurt or kill these amazing creatures!!

I think animals a friends not foo dfor many different reasons. One, they are best friends that keep your secrets and don't talk back to you in mean ways just like we want our friends to do. They don't care what you look like but it you treat them right then they will always be grateful. They even have saved the lives of human companions and complete strnagers.
Animals also should not be eaten but treated as oru friends because they have feelings just like us, and families, and love their young. Like any good mother the animal mothers treat their children as most important and will protect them with all they can give. They are just like us if not equal.

Animals are frends, not food because they are faithful, loving and can be great companions. When you're down and no one else wants to listen, they're great listeners and never interrupt. They always know when you need cheering up, and they never fail to with their cute and funny antics. They don't deserve to be eaten. A lot of farm animals are underestimated, and when they learn to trust someone they will be great companions.
We humans underestimate their itelligence, their curiosity and their caring nature towards their young. Animals are not for eating - we are all equal.

i think animals are friends not food mainly for the reason, that they dont have to ablitly to speak up and say that this is completely wrong, they didnt do ANYTHING whatsoever do deserve to die, they all have feelings, and they have their familes they have to leave behind.

I think that animals are friends and not food because I don't understand how its alright to eat some animals and not others. All animals are equal. I don't see a difference between a dog or a pig, and I don't get how in this part of the world people can eat pigs and cows but they can't eat dogs and cats. I think more people of the world needs to know what animals go through for the meat they eat. Animals need love and care, they don't need us killing them off and killing their young! The other day I was in Wal*Mart and a guy asked me about the shirt I wore, it was a pink shirt that had a mouse on it doing school work and it said 'No Animal Testing'; he asked me who I felt about animal testing and so I told him that it's wrong and sick to test on helpless animals for reasons unknown! If those stupid scientists want to test on something then maybe they should test on them selves! Sorry I get a little out of hand some times when I talk about how animals are mistreated.

I love animals and I hate meat to the max. I think animals should be able to live their lives the way they want and I don't think or believe humans have the right to test on them, kill them for meat or kill them for the joy of their pain! It's wrong and sick to the point my stomach twists at the idea of some one being so cruel and so unruly!

k, well my best friend is my cat Lucky. I would never eat her so what makes any other animal different. I also believe we are all animals so why would eating chicken be any different then eating my Mom.Ilove my Mom and would never eat her. I think animals are friends not food because simply, they are living beings. We have to ask ourselves, would we eat a human? I know it's a silly question but it has a deeper meaning. Animals are really no different than us humans are, we're living, breathing beings, and so are animals. I would never have my friends as food, clearly, therefore, animals, living beings, are our friends, not our meals.

I've been vegitarien since i could think propely, and i seriously can't understand what weird minded person would eat a living creature. My friends say 'animals where made to eat or thats what they're there for' and to be honest i think that's the biggest load of shit i've ever heard. It's like eating your family pet, you just wouldn't do it. It proper upset's me how everyone eat's animals like they can grow some more, they don't care that they left a packet of bacon in the fridge too long and it's outa date so they've gotta throw it away, and that pig should be running across some feild happily somewhere and that chicken they ate for tea was practically full of chemically produced shit and was hung up by it's feet for 12 hours before all the blood ran to it's head and killed it slowely. I don't even want a t-shirt i just wish somehow the world would come to it's sences and see that it's sickeningly wrong to do stuff like that.

We all already know that animals are not food. However, in addition to being our best friends, animals are companions, soul mates, and make life worthwhile. Sometimes i believe i feel closer to animals than humans. They are the best listeners and when you look deep into their eyes, they give you the best advice. Animals will love you unconditionally and have no human flaws. They don't argue with one another over petty problems. They don't have prejudice towards different races or religions. They don't discriminate against gays. Animals treat humans equally, so why shouldn't we do the same for them? Nobody would eat their human friends, so why should the world continue to eat their furry friends? To me, animals are, or should be, treated equally to humans. You're not a cannibal, so why eat an animal? haha...Finally, animals are the best friends and advice givers i know. Animals find peace in the crazy world we live in and listen and love unconditionally. For these reasons, animals are friends and NOT food. Look into the eyes of your furry friend, and see how deep their soul is, how loving their heart is, how lovely their personality is, and most importantly, how they are the best friend you will ever have.

I think that back when we had to survive on meat for nutrition and to get through winter, we had to hunt animals for food. Or later on, farm them. Now I think that you should only take what you need. All animals, even insects, are friends to me. I really despise factories that produce meat products. I love sustainable living; it's the way to go. Not all animals should be seen as food. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

i believe that animals are friends and not food because not only do they have feelings, or because they have all 5 senses or because they are a living breathing creature but we as people can connect and have a relationship with a furry friend. especially those kids who have a hard time talking with parents or peers its easy to have a furry friend to talk to who wont judge and will still show you all the love and affection that they can give. animals are smart, can learn things and they don't ask for anything in return except for love (and food and water). my dog pudge is the closest thing to a child that i have. i treat him like he's my own.i would never eat him or hurt him in any way shape or form. i wouldnt skin him for his coat. i could never image torturing any animal for anything. we dont go around torturing each other (well us sane ones that is) so why turn on a defenseless animal who can't speak for itself. why stoop that low. and the sad thing is no matter how bad an aminal has been tortured most of them will still show all the love and affection in the world. that is why i think animals are friends and not food.

I think animals are friends not food because I believe in the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. And I certainly would not want someone wearing my skin or hair for clothes. Or using my flesh and bones as sustenance. I believe that this age old rule should, and in my world it does, extend to all living creatures. I always think of that quote from Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Hoo: A person's a person, no matter how small. We are animals, well mammals but that is an animal group, and animals are animals. We both walk and move, love and hurt, so why not treat our fellow animals the way we desire to be treated?! That is why I take the whole Friend, Not Food message to heart, it is the way the world should be, if it were a perfect place and I am certainly going to do my part in moving the world in that direction!

No innocent living being deserves to be brutally tortured and killed, just to satisfy selfish human's taste buds. I believe it is quite hypocritical to have dogs and cats as beloved companions in your home, yet think nothing of having a chicken carcass for dinner. It simply does not make sense to me why people continue to support cruelty, especially since there are so many yummy, cruelty free alternatives available these days.

Animals are innocent and do not have the ability to hate. They feel pain and sorrow. They have families and compassion. They only want to live life freely the way we are able to. So many animals have made their presence in stories about how they have saved the lives of people, so why not do the same and try to save their lives as well. They mean us no harm and certainly don't grill and fry us or use as coats or handbags. I love all animals and commit my life to veganism in order to help. Animals deserve the respect we give each other. They are not property, they are our friends. We have no right to sell them as meat and lock them in tight cages where they must trample over their fecies. My dream is to go into fashion for veganism and open up a nutritional vegan resaurant. besides, plants and legumes look so much prettier on a plate than a slab of cruel meat. Animals are just so cute how could you resist to care for them when they have such beautiful spirits. They are god made souls and they are all my friends from the little gold fish to the great lion. I wouldn't dare use them for my own selfishness. Animals are truly mesmorizing.

Heartbeats are hard to ignore. So are brains, cute eyes and innocence. I can't look at the meat aisle without feeling something terrible. Many others see it like it's the candy store. I know that many humans perceive meat as a dinner plate must-have. I've live with them. They all assume I will die from "only eating salad". Why eat someone's family to please yours? Never. And I'd gladly wear another shirt to drive that message home.

Animals are our friends not our food simply because it is wrong to prey on something that is weaker than yourself simply because you can. Animals have done nothing to deserve the way they are treated.
there is a choice about living things; they are ever your foe or friend, and since animals are nobodys foes, that would make them friends and treating them in they way they are treated is not very friendly.
i am a vegetarian as the thought of eating meat makes me want to be sick, and have even quite a job as i got so sick of the site of animal blood (it was just washing dishes but still)

Animals are FRIENDIES NOT FOOD because-- well--you know--they're just like people. Think about it, eh? They have a heart, and they bleed just as we do. They feel pain---just as we do. When their family is in pain--it hurts. They love their children--just as we do. They need companionship--just as we do. They drink water--as we do--they eat food-- as we do. They breathe the same air as we do. They know when they're being neglected--as we do. They feel hurt, suffering, pain, joy, excitement, ecstasy, as we do. I would hardly eat my next door neighbor (Sam wouldn't appreciate that too much), as I would not have the audacity to eat a being so like myself in terms of being capable to feel the need for... Very human needs.

There are too many reasons why animals are friends and not food to name. First of all animals are way cuter living than when they are dead and on a plate. They are way more fun to look at when they are alive and way better listeners. you see i could go on and on about why animals a friends and not food, but that would take all day to type. thank you for your time.

We all already know that animals are not food. However, in addition to being our best friends, animals are companions, soul mates, and make life worthwhile. Sometimes i believe i feel closer to animals than humans. They are the best listeners and when you look deep into their eyes, they give you the best advice. Animals will love you unconditionally and have no human flaws. They don't argue with one another over petty problems. They don't have prejudice towards different races or religions. They don't discriminate against gays. Animals treat humans equally, so why shouldn't we do the same for them? Nobody would eat their human friends, so why should the world continue to eat their furry friends? To me, animals are, or should be, treated equally to humans. You're not a cannibal, so why eat an animal? haha...Finally, animals are the best friends and advice givers i know. Animals find peace in the crazy world we live in and listen and love unconditionally. For these reasons, animals are friends and NOT food. Look into the eyes of your furry friend, and see how deep their soul is, how loving their heart is, how lovely their personality is, and most importantly, how they are the best friend you will ever have.

My dog was abused as a puppy and only has one eye, and since the day I got him and saw how cruel people can be to animals, I haven't touched meat since. I am 14 years old, and I started my own organization in Maryland for teen vegetarians.

It is not right that animals should be eaten, used for products, or be tested on.

People dont eat people, and we are meat too.

I believe that animals are friends not food because:
+Animals have brains too, and they should be respected as their own individual.

I hate it when people say that pets have no emotions, my mom told me that when I went away to sleep away camp for the first time 2 years ago that my dog was so sad and he refused to eat almost the whole time I was away and a while after I came back. I missed him a lot also, Lucky is one of my best friends. I could never eat an animal and look back at his cute little face with the attitude "that's different" which is what people tell me when I explain that Lucky is one of the reasons I became a vegetarian. It's not NORMAL to eat an animal! To me it's completely WRONG. It's like eating a baby. They might not be able to speak but that doesn't mean they deserve to be tortured and killed. Animals mean so much to me, which is why I've been vegetarian for 3 years and slowly turning vegan. I am planning on being a veterinarian solely for the reason of helping animals. Hey, so I learned that animals are friends not food, during a really hard time in my life.
I was so low, and no one cared/understood, but mostly no one knew. Except for my best-est friend in the world, my cat. He would come up to my room, cry outside the door 'till I let him in, then he sat in my lap, and just made sure I wasn't alone. To this day, me being so much better, he still comes and checks up on me when he thinks I may be low, or when I've been in my room too long.
He never judged and I will always love him more than I can express.

There are so many reasons why animals are friends, not food. First of all, animals cant offend you, or hurt your feelings. They are always there for you when you need a friend. They are never too busy to give you love and attention. They accept you for who you are, and they NEVER EVER judge you! Animals are never too embarassed to show how much they love you, and they ALWAYS forgive you when you've made a mistake. There's no grudges, jealousy, revenge, or hate. Even though some humans mercilessly eat the flesh of our friends (animals), you dont see them attacking humans for the sake of vengeance. Why on earth would someone want to eat their FRIEND?!?! its CRAZY! what have the animals ever done to them?
Secondly, animals are cute and cuddly. Just like babies! babies are friends! you wouldnt eat a baby, would you? I DIDNT THINK SO! =0.

Why should animals be friends, no food?

Point one: Animals are living creatures. They feel pains, they have emotions, and they are inteligent. They cry, they scream, they get hyper and excited, and so much more. They are almost the same as us, so why do we want to kill them for our pleasure?

Point two: How would we feel if someone came up to us and killed us right on the spot only to cook and eat what's inside of you and to wear your skin because it's fashionable? Fist, it would be creepy. Second, it would be wrong. Thrid, it would feel discusting to us, right? What's the difference with an animal?

Point three: There are alot of diseases you can get from eating meat, including a certain type of cancer. Also vegans and vegetarians rarely have heart attacks, strokes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc.

I think eating Animals and animal cruelty is extremely disgusting and cruel , because whether it's an Animal or a human , it's still a living creature , and it's still wrong. There have been laws made against killing people , so why are there no laws against killing Animals ? It's just extremely inhumane and unfair. I've been an animal lover since I was in the womb, no joke haha. Since I was little I would always bring home stray animals, and of course get in trouble for it =P, but my puppy eyes technique worked every time hehe. I think abusing animals in any way, including mainly killing them just to eat their flesh, is just utterly wrong. Most people are very ignorant to the fact that humans are animals too, and the only thing that separates us from any other species is that we can talk and our limbs exist so we can be the "dominant species" or whatever crap people say. I personally don't think we're the dominant species on this earth because animals were here long before we were, yet they suffer because humans discovered eating meat and killing animals as hobbies. It's pretty sick if you ask me. In my own home even when I have to give away a pet I cry because I don't want that.

Basically if an animal dies, I die right along with it. It's the circle of life for me.

animals are friends. that's the basic thing. for example, a DOG. duh. once it joins the family, it's practically a member. i know that for sure because of my family's 3 pet dogs. we adopted 1 and found 2. when we first got them, they were like newborn children. but as we grew with them they became emotionally attached and were with us everywhere. they are our friends. i read from an article in my star testing booklet about how dogs and pets are more reliable than friends. when a relative deceased, the dog comforted the owner. the dog stuck along side the owner through thick and thin. one part of the story was when the owner became bankrupt and lost all his belongings; his wife and children left him. but the dog stuck with him, he eventually regained his money, but the dog didn't make it; he apparently died of old age. well the owner used his fortunes for his dog's memorial stuff. yeah. well although this story is most likely fictatious, it really shows the companionship between a human and an animal. okay that's all. Ok, well to start this off, I know this is corny, but when I was little I used to think I was a dog, no lie. My mom and I would be shopping in the grocery store, at the local Ukrops, or Food Lion, I would be literally barking, and when people would ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up I would always say I wanted to be a dog. Ever since then, my love for animals has grown tremendously, I love and care for them so much. I always try to help out my enviroment, my community, and most importantly the animals. Because without animals on this earth, we wouldn't have alot of things that people take for granted today. I believe that animals are friends not food, because to eat another being is morally wrong for me personally, I don't know about the rest of the population. Eating another animal to me, is like eating another soul god put on this planet, consuming their soul, and being, and to me, slicing and dicing up a chicken or a cow, is just as wrong as killing a person and slicing them up and putting them in a meat grinder, to be mass marketed or mass produced at some McDonalds, or Taco Bell, to be another slab of meat on the dinner table. Animals have emotions too, it's not just people and I suppose alot of us take for granted all the beautiful things in the world such as animals and water, and fish, and all the other creatures, because its not just us humans who have feelings. I suppose once upon a time, people had to eat meat for survival because their crops were bad, or soil was poor, and other things about their enviroment, but we don't have to be that way today! We can change the way people think about animals, and the rest of their enviroment. Instead of hurting an innocent animal, or have them tortured at a meat factory, crammed into closed conditions, wallowing around in their own fieces, pumped full of steroids and antibiotics, only to be ingested by people who eat meat, instead why not choose a friendlier option such as tofu, or soy, or fruits, and vegetables? They are a much healthier, safer, alternative to eating meat. Now, the question I propose to you is this: Why let animals suffer, when there are better, healthier, safer, options?
You do not have to support the meat industry, a cruel industry who only puts themselves forward, while they shove animals needs back to the end of the line. Animals are forced to be slaughtered, brutally hurt, and put into poor conditions, for the sake of another meal for another person. It has also been proven that mad cow disease has come up from cows, eating other cows, well this is strange, correct? It really is! Why would the meat industry do this to cows, put other cows, into their feed, to be consumed by other cows, and it's like a vicious cycle! It needs to be stopped and I think that people can stop this, if they just stood up and said this is wrong! If enough people stood up to the mea industry to get better conditions for their animals, not feed other animals to new animals, and if they must kill them, do it humanley please. This is why I oppose KFC so much, is because they kill their chickens so inhumanley, and unjust, that it just sickens me to think how people can really spend their money at a restaraunt that can do that to their animals! So why let this injustice continue? Why let animals die to be just another meal? We can all work together to stop this cruelty! It's just like in the Wizard of Oz, we have to open the curtain and expose them for the fraud they are, and with your help we can all do it together. Don't let this continue.

I recently saved a pitt bull from dying because her owners kept her OUTSIDE from BIRTH! they did not get her her shots or take her to the vet at all. I think animals are friends, not food. I encounter animals sometimes, and I have different pets. I used to have pet rats, birds, and hamsters. It scared me the fact when Someone told me in different places they ate them. How could someone do that? Then it led me to other thoughts... what if the animal you made friends with happen to be your dinner the next day? I went to a cattle ranch once and met all the cows, later to find out they would eventually be... in someone else's stomach. Thats like having your best friend, your dog Spot, growing up with you and you knew eventually it would be somebody's food. I think that us humans should leave the level of meat-eating and leave that to the natural world. I learned so much from you guys! They feel pain, they feel sadness, they feel scared. They feel the same emotions and feelings as us, except there are no human factories where we are tortured, killed, and wrapped up into little packages. It used to not be as cruel as it is today, but people are more selfish and don't care about feelings of other humans or animals, and do whatever it takes to make more, more, more money. Why is it that the Holocaust attracts to much attention, and it is looked at as such a horrible thing but is it not clear that the same thing is happening right this moment? Animals are kept their whole life. Their WHOLE life. Not just a couple of weeks, months, years. Why is this not such a horrible thing? And why is it still going on? People who eat meat usually don't know what exactly they are eating, or what that animal on their plate had to suffer just to become their meal. So they like to remain ignorant instead of feeling guilty. Or some people feel bad but don't want to give it up, or just take fun in killing animals and find it funny. Some people have said to me "People have been eating meat since the earth was created." and "God put animals on this earth to be eaten." THEIR POINT IS TO BE EATEN? ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? So, just because things used to be a certain way, that means we can't change it? We can't invent new things and improve old things to keep ourselves and the earth healthy? Eating animals is not only cruel, but it's disgusting. Eating flesh, muscle, fat of a living creature? More people should be informed about what is going on to produce what is on their plate, and I think that will change their mind. It changed mine.

I like to think that all living beings are tied together-literally tied by something like a string, or maybe we're all holding onto each other in an elephant-like fashion.
The thing we hold onto is our souls, and our souls are one when we are at peace with each other. But you can't exactly be at peace with another being if you eat them.
When you eat another being, you cut off not only their soul from the chain but your own.

Been a vegetarian for about a year and a half now, because i love animals (i want a pet pig. No, im serious!) and because meat is kinda disgusting anyways.
First it was kinda hard because my dad isn't really that supportive of my vegetarianism and some of my family thought it was stupid but then i've always been different so i just stuck by it and i lost a stone within a month. I'm considering becoming a vegan soon as well but the transition will probably be hard. Seeing as i love icecream so much and i havn't seen any non-dairy icecream yet. I may have to check that bit out.

How could they torchere them and put them in a small and tiny cage? How could they let aniamls even suffer ilke that? Aniamls need to deserve as much as love as we do. Just because they cant talk saying "dont eat me!!" "Dont kill me!" Or things like that, they can still say it from their looks, they cry in the inside, they just can't do that to them!! Wow, its hard to find words to describe my love for animals. First of all, we weren't even made to 'eat' animals. Do we have canines? No, we have 'flat' teeth meant to chew/grind up fruit and vegetables, not chew/grind through flesh.

I think that animals are friends, not food, because animals are our equals. They diserve respect, love, care, and rights, just like human beings do everyday. Animals have faces, feelings, and personality, unlike lumpy potatoes and dull flat leaf lettuce on a plate. Animals love, play, sleep, and eat, just like we do. Animals are not only our pets, but our friends, siblings, and children. We don't love our food like that. We form special bonds and build relationships with animals, just like humans do with eachother day to day, and I'm pretty sure you're not going to take time out of your day to snuggle with last night's leftovers. Animals respond to you and feed off your emotions. They can tell if you're in a happy playful mood or in desperate need of hug. As much you may enjoy snacking on carrots, they will never pop up with a calming purr or a happy tail wag just to make your day. Animals are always there for you. And as much you may love that veggie burger, it'll never love like an animal will. People should relize that animals have feelings just like us, and we would not want to be chopped up and eaten would we now?! Animals are friends for so many reasons. I'm probably closer to some animals than I am to human friends. I've never had to worry about a dog spreading nasty rumors, a cat stabbing me in the back, or a fish ripping out my heart. A cow is a "who." So is a pig, a chicken, or any other animal. Tofu isn't an example of a "who."

Whenever I hold my dog, I feel like I can't express my love to her enough. I hold her tight and scratch her belly, but I still can't really express to her how much I love her. But I think she gets it, because she always licks my cheek. Other animals aren't any different, they're loving creatures capable of feeling and holding affection toward other creatures.

I have 3 kids ages 4,5 & 7...It is so very imnportant to me to teach my children compassion for every living thing. When they were infants, I had on animal planet continuously; even know we watch it more often than not.
I talk to them now about how every animal and living thing plays an important role in our environment and life. My goal is to inspire and encourage them to inspire and encourage their friends and others around them as they grow up to be positive role models/individuals that will make a difference in the lives of animals/treating them with respect, love and compassion! Animals are friends not food because they should be appreciated for their individual personalities not what they taste like. I've spent my whole life around many types of animals: dogs, cats, horses, pigs, chickens, and goats (none of which were eaten by the way!), and I have seen that each and every one of them is different. I would definitely call myself an animal lover, and I have been proving this my whole life. I became vegetarian when I was three years old by my own choice, before I even knew what that word meant. I just knew that I didn't want to eat animals. Six years ago I switched to being completely vegan. Eating animals is disgusting and no one should EVER think of an animal as food.

Animals are friends, not food. In our country, we do not tolerate children being abused, but animals are capable of the unconditional love that children are, and many people look away while they are being cruelly mutilated. As Finding Nemo wisely stated it, "Fish are friends, not food." Many people forget about fish when they go vegetarian, but fish are just the same as any other animal. Just because they aren't neccecarily as "cute," they are forgotten about. But fish can feel pain just as any other animal can. This is why I feel it's so important not to eat meat.

I love animals. They're beautiful, graceful creatures. I've grown up with chickens, pigs, cats, dogs, and even the occasional goat! These animals were my friends. I could never harm them in any way. Granted chickens aren't the most beautiful birds in the animal kingdom, but they're still incredible animals. Hens have a maternal instinct, and they take care of their young. I don't think any animal should lose its mother. Pigs happen to be one of my favorites. When I was younger, my uncle's pig had babies. I became particularly fond of one little piglet that I named Boston. We would chase each other around the yard. He was such a sweet and loving friend. Since animals are my friends, I can't even imagine eating one of my best friends!!!! All people should respect animals and treat them with kindness. Animals are my friends. Not food!!!! I've read all of the comments above and I really think ya'll are aproaching this the wrong way.Yes animals are friends not food, because they should have EVERY inalienable right a human has.Not just because they're cute but because it is in the best interest of the animal.This is a very hard battle to fight so we have to voice they're oppinions.I don't care about the t-shirt I just wanted to put in my two cents of information in.

I believe animals shouldn't be considered a food source because we have the ability and knowledge to make and consume other substances with just as much nutritional value. I hope people start to understand more about the cruelty and neglect these animals face everyday.

I'm here to talk about animals and everything. I'm now ( while writing this text ) doing a French project at my school about the treatments that animal get through and have to bear. That's free cruelty and i REALLY don't agree with all of this.. this is such useless pain for them. Animals are friends 'cause they have feelings like us, people think it's stupid when i say this but how can you explain that animals get scared of needles and be attached to machines or things to do laboratory tests on them ? I have been a vegetarian since I was 6 years old(I am 14 now.) Up until this year I was the only vege in my family. I decided to be vege by myself and since then I have been trying to help people see my views. Of course one of my biggest points is that animals should be friends and not food. When they ask why? I tell them my reasoning: "Animals are my friends because they have done nothing to hurt me and if they have hurt it was probably self defense because you were annoying them in some way. You have to remember animals can't speak any human languages (unless they have been trained to do things like "sit" or other commands)and probably don't understand most things you are doing(I am not saying animals are not smart, they are very smart!=]). So if you are say repeatively poking an animal the animal may become confused and think it is an insect trying feed off of it or just to annoy the animal. This may cause the animal to attack your finger and cause you harm. The animals hasn't hurt you on purpose the animal accidentally hurt you to protect itself. There are many situations where an animal can hurt you just because it wants to defend itself. Even if an animal has hurt you on purpose it doesn't mean it should die so you can eat it or you should hate it. So you see animals are my friends they would never do anything to hurt me. In fact when I am sad, my cat sits with me although she can't say anything to make me feel better she is always there for me. That may sound crazy but when your sad you don't want to sit by yourself. I can also go outside and run around with my dogs. The two of the run around trying to chase me. haha=]"
