Do any of you play sports? Other than soccer (the best sport in the world), I used to do track in middle school and high school. Now I don't want to brag, but I definitely ran a mile in under 4:50 when I was in my best shape. I wasn't breaking school records or anything, but I was leaving most of my teammates in the dust for the 1600m. Of course, I was a recent vegan at the time and that definitely helped to give me that healthy edge.
So last weekend I went to run a 5k in Maryland and had lots of fun hanging out with friends and eating great vegan food around DC. I ran a pretty decent race and a bunch of co-workers and I got second place for PETA! I figured I'd share this human pyramid photo since I'm totally obsessed with them.

I've also been curious what sports you blog readers are into. Like I said, I like soccer the best, but maybe you like something else like...oh I don't know...sumo wrestling or badminton or tennis (no, Wii sports don't really count). So let me know. What's your favorite sport?
Oh and hey, check this entry into the video contest. This one is about animal testing, but yours can be about any animal rights issue. Keep those entries comin'.

Posted by: erika at May 22, 2008 10:52 AMI've never really been a sporty person but I love to dance. I do things like yoga, aerobics and ballet to keep fit.
Posted by: Little_Lotte at May 22, 2008 3:10 PMHorseback riding is my favorite, I love horses, and I love the feeling of going over a jump or just galloping around the ring. I think the things they can do is amazing. I also like skiing, badminton, squash, track and field (but a good run around the track is good for me), volleyball and basketball.

Posted by: Marissa at May 23, 2008 2:49 PMI love sports!! Second best way to staying fit (the first being being veg. of course)! I love riding dirtbikes, playing basketball, hitting the waves on a surfboard, or being pulled by a boat on a wakeboard...hmmmm now I want to get up and go hit the dirt...
Posted by: Stephanie at May 23, 2008 6:31 PMI'm a field hockey girl, I guess. I'm the school goalie for FH but it's not really my passion.
I'm much more of a musical person.
i love field hockey!
its so much fun!
Horseback riding is not only a sport, it is a passion to me! I not only love the feeling of jumping and galloping around the ring (including the show ring). But I love my horse so much! I do not think of him as my pet, but my best friend! I love just spending time in the pasture or the stall with him! He loves attention, and people tell me they can tell that he loves me!

Posted by: Meg at May 24, 2008 12:53 PMI am a frequent runner (long distance) but I also play a bit of squash and rugby but I'm also into yoga and swimming to keep fit. I'm also hoping to be able to get into boxing at some point.
I do a lot of my running for sponsorship, usually going for charities that are aimed at the armed forces (its a family thing, plus I go to a military school) but I've been veggie for over 6 months now (To celebrate the 'anniversary' I actually did my first marathon) and would love to raise some money for the cause. How would I go about running for PETA?

I used to be a female bull rider, the only one around but I quit this past weekend because I hated how they treat the animals. I had also learned that it is true, they wrap the ropes around their testicles to make them buck. So I had experience inside the bull riding world.
Posted by: Fala at May 22, 2008 9:33 AMThe last bull I rode I got to name, so he is now Cherokee. It is a beautiful name in respects to him, but also shows he has determination. Plus, I also told the guy who owns the bulls (we have connections with him) that if he ever got ride of Cherokee to call or e-mail me because I'd pay to spare his life!
Most of our animals at the farm are rescues anyways!
So what do you think? My newest sport is made up, it's call racketmitten!
