Morrissey - Could We Love You Any More? April 11, 2008

Today's blog features guest blogger, peta2 UK's Violet...

As the bloody seal hunt is once again underway in Canada, our dear friend Morrissey is once again defending the animals who will meet a brutal end at the hands of hunters. I won't go on any longer, because anything I can say, good old Moz can say in a much more eloquent and charming fashion! See his statement below:

morrissey.jpg"As we all know. the psychologically and constitutionally sickening Canadian seal-kill has started and is once again in full-cry. The horror of the Canadian seal-kill is untranslatable, and although I fully realize that highly concentrated evil exists in other countries - Japan's dolphin slaughter, Iceland's newly-revived whaling, the cat-skinning trade in Switzerland, and China with just about every injustice imaginable - there is something especially menacing about Canada's seal-kill."

"Loyola Sullivan (Canada's Ambassador for Fisheries Conservation) is a man of glacial coldness who claims that the seal-kill is "humane" - a view he might alter if his own skull were cracked open with a spiked axe. The fact that the seal-kill provides a livelihood for fishermen is an insultingly dim excuse for it to take place - after all, the German gas chambers of World War 2 also provided work for someone. The seal-kill takes place to satisfy greed for fur-pelts."

Morrissey is not alone, as Kasabian too join the fight against the seal hunt and indeed, fur in general. Frontman Tom Meighan said, "I think its just common sense really. I mean, of course I don't think it's OK to smash a baby seal's skull. I don't wear fur, it's such an ugly thing to do."

Kasabian, Morrissey, peta2 UK salutes you!

*Violet x

I love this quote ""Nobody can come up with a good argument for eating animals nobody can. People as some kind of a joke say, well, It's tasty,' but it's only tasty once you garnish it and you put salt and pepper, and you cook it, and you have to do 300 things to it to disguise its true taste. If you put garnishes on a chair or fabric, it would probably taste quite nice." by Morrisey :)

Morrissey is not only The Maestro but obviously a man of great compassion. The Seal hunt is just so obviously wrong I don't know how anyone could condone it.

I think Morrisey is brillant to follow his convictions its a shame too many other celebrities do not boycott countries that are cruel and inhumane
