food Doritos Spicy Sweet Chili
Yes! It's true, people—there are vegan Doritos out on the market. I heard the rumors this past week, and when I was at the ole grocery store this weekend, buying my usual necessities, I spotted the allusive Spicy Sweet Chili Doritos. Needless to say, that bag was in my cart in the blink of an eye.
Basically all you need to know is the chips are delicious! As a former Cool Ranch Doritos addict (in my pre-vegan days, of course), these chips are sure to be my new addiction. I will be purchasing another bag in the near future, for sure. Yay for Doritos for making a vegan chip (however accidental that may have been!)!
And now, my roomie Jen and I would like to share with you our Doritos experience, in pictures:
Have you tried the chips yet? Let me know what you think of them!

I haven't tried them yet but that's awesome I'm excited to try them in my prevegan days I was a doritos addict lol
Posted by: Angela at March 25, 2008 8:19 PMWe have "sweet Chili heat" Doritos here in Canada....are these the same chips, but with a different name for the American market?
Posted by: pm at March 25, 2008 9:50 PMman, we've had these in my city in Canada for a LONG time.. possibly the best Doritos ever, and vegan to boot :)
Posted by: nicole at March 26, 2008 10:04 AMI tried these chips yesterday because a friend bought them but I didn't like them that well. As for cool ranch, I love! those chips.
Posted by: Danielle Bray at March 26, 2008 11:39 AMi hope they taste better then the name would lead me to believe.
Posted by: Jeff at March 26, 2008 2:09 PMDo they sell them in the UK too?
Posted by: Little_Lotte at March 26, 2008 3:20 PMMore of these in the office, please!
Ha. I will buy the next bag. Fo sho.
Posted by: shan at March 26, 2008 3:47 PMI looked at the UK Walkers website and it seems the Chilli Heatwave and Lightly Salted Doritos are vegan (someone please correct me if I'm wrong).
Posted by: Little_Lotte at March 26, 2008 3:53 PMWhat stores carry it? I've been to CVS, Walgreens, and 2 grocery stores and none of them carry it.
Posted by: Julie at March 26, 2008 4:51 PM1st Supporting a company that makes other food thats not vegan is not vegan.
2nd did you bother to look at the other ingredients like MSG?
these are amazing! i had nonvegans tell me they are the best new doritos flavor so far. i love them!
Posted by: Kelly at March 26, 2008 11:54 PMI was looking at them the other day because I saw them on the Colbert Report but I doubted that I could eat them. That's how I found out they were vegan! I was so excited!
Posted by: Brittany at March 27, 2008 9:22 AMThey taste great...almost like chinese food in a chip! I didn't know they were vegan...I'm just a reg veg! Still, they are delish!
Posted by: MeL at March 27, 2008 11:30 AMomg Little_Lotte, thank god for that! I'm vegetarian in the UK looking at going vegan, and I'm addicted to chilli heatwave doritos! I checked them too, and there's nothing un-vegan that I know of!~(including the stupid little ingredients that are given posh names to confuse you...)
Posted by: dizzydot at March 27, 2008 12:17 PMI got some today, they are really good!! &the bag is purple :]!
Posted by: Ashley at March 27, 2008 9:41 PMhallelujah!
Posted by: Valerie at March 31, 2008 12:14 AMDuuuude my new favorite junk-food snack. Fuckin love 'em!
Posted by: Softie at April 6, 2008 4:48 PMI might be going vegan soon, or at least vegitarian, and one of the things I'm worried about IS the lack of comfort food like vanilla icecream, and doritos, this is a huge comfort to me
Posted by: Becca at April 12, 2008 2:53 PMJust tried them. They were great! A little spicy, but great!
Posted by: dw at April 14, 2008 7:55 PMOMG! I didn't know that they were Vegan! I saw them on the Colbert Report when they first came out, tried them at work, and fell in love with them! I'm so excited hahah!
Posted by: Kaela at September 3, 2008 9:07 PMI LOVE THOSE THINGS!!!!!
now i really want a big bag of them...
Posted by: erika at September 4, 2008 11:59 AMI could live off of these for days and days - everytime I sit and attempt to eat an entire bag, no one believes that they're vegan-friendly! SO ADDICTIVE AND TOO DELICIOUS!
Posted by: Erin at September 6, 2008 1:38 AMAs I type this, my nonvegan husband is behind me eating Cool Ranch Doritos. But now that I know these are vegan, you better believe I'll be buying myself a bag!!
Posted by: Sarahbeth at September 22, 2008 11:35 PMUnless you grow your own food, you VERY probably buy food from a company that also produces non-vegan foods. I buy food from nonvegan companies perhaps 99.9% of the time; that's simply because there is no choice. Tofutti, Clif Bar, Silk/White Wave/Dean Foods, ConAgra, Kraft/Nabisco/Altria (Phillip Morris), the bottom line is almost every company that makes vegan food also makes food that contains dairy or even meat.
Posted by: Ralph at October 3, 2008 5:05 PMMy girlfriend just found them across the street. I had no clue there was such a thing, but she's a constant label reader and managed to find em for me. Best. Girlfriend. Ever. I too was a cool ranch addict. Like, seriously strung out. Went to rehab three times. Performed sexual favors in public for the promise of that sweet, cheesy goodness. Actually, it was a pretty tough period in my life. ;-)
But who am I to deny sweet vegan Dorito goodness? So, so good....
The unknowing man or woman responsible for the creation of a vegan Dorito truly does deserve a spot in the vegan hall of fame. ;-)
Posted by: Matt at October 20, 2008 11:49 PMi looooooove them rithg now im eating some!! :P wowowo vegan doritos yay!!
Posted by: Kary at November 23, 2008 11:23 AMThey are ballin'.

Posted by: G-Pat..! at February 20, 2009 12:25 PMMy friends and I DEVOUR these... the vegan doritos are the most amazing things ever... so bad for you! but taste amazing. kettle chips and rice chips can't even come close...
Posted by: virginia at September 8, 2009 4:39 PMprobably not entirely vegan the FritoLay company uses pig enzymes in their chips, especially their Dorittos. Sorry, but you've been eating pig enzymes for a while apparently

LOL, my husband and I have been lamenting the lack of vegan Doritos since we saw the new flavor on The Colbert Report last week. We had no idea!
