No one should wear leather because leather is part of a dead animal who was most likely treated cruelly before they murdered it and made it into a piece of clothing.

Hey, why u shouldnt wear fur??ill tell u why because fur is discusting fur is ugly and fur is wrong. Animals are helpless against the cruelty the world shows them. Animals dont go walking around in our skin why should we!?I mean like how they torture those animals is wrong and just plain nasty. You should not wear leather because leather is cruel to animals, cruel to the environment, and seriously cruel to your fashion sense. A lot of leather comes from India where cows are not widely eaten. So leather is not a by product of the meat industry. The chemicals in tanneries cause cancer in people, and kill the environment in which they are desposed of in. And leather went out of style in the 90s. Seriously.

I wouldn't wear leather because I've been inside a leather factory before, and seeing how its made, and just knowing what it's made from, makes me want to puke automatically. Also because It's cruel to the animals that were killed to make it. They need that skin more than the people who want to wear leather because they think it makes them look 'sexy' or 'badass'. You know, if those people saw how their leather clothes were made, they wouldn't think its so sexy or badass. I'm pretty sure they'd throw it all out. I did.

One reason you should NEVER wear leather, is that it is NOT yours to wear! How would you like it if someone cruely slaughtered you to death and then decided to start walking around with your skin as there new shoes, jacket or wallet?! Not a very nice thought is it! Then think again before wearing leather as you are killing an innocent animal for, what?! Fashion!!!

You shouldn't wear leather for the simple fact is that it's killing one of God's creatures just for fashion. Animals can't speak out, say their emotions, or anything a human can say and express.. But we all have one thing in common, we don't want to die. It's like this.. If we switched roles with animals, do you think it'd be alright for us to be skinned and used as a chair, jacket, or fashion accessory? No. Animals can't speak, so let's speak FOR them. There is so many other materials that can be used for fashion. Feux fur for an example.. You can buy a fake leather purse, and it will still be used for the same thing.

Leather is skin that covers animals bodies. The need that skin to keep themselves warm and alive. To protect themselves from all the harshness of this world. We do NOT need to be stealing the skin off of their very backs to make ourselves look "cool". Let them keep their skin, you have enough already.

Some people are asking why wear leather? Some people are asking why NOT wear leather? I am a why wear leather. Why? Because leather is made from animals, and animals are one of God's creatures. If we wore human skin products people would be outraged. Animals do not have a voice of there own, so it is OUR responcibility to speak out on their behalf. There are many faux products on the market that will give the same look AND feel without animal crualty. So speak out aginst animal crualty and wear faux products!!!

One huge reason not to wear leather is that the animal it comes from needs it a lot more than we do. We've got plenty of non-animal products that do just as good (better, really) a job of covering our naked butts than does leather, which isn't ours to snatch away from its owners, anyways.

Why Shouldn't You wear lether? Because it's sick. You wouldn't SLAUGHTER your pets to wear their fur why do it to any other animal. Wearing Anything ( or eating) that once or still currently had/has a face is a thing only a sick person would do.

Leather is dead skin of a toutured cow. Just so ya know, even if you don't eat meant but still wear leather, you are still supporting animal slaughtering!

Fur is DEAD. Fur is like animals taking our hair and wearing it as a wig. Sound stupid? Oh yeah. They think it looks stupid if you wear their hair too!

Leather is one of the most contraversal issues among vegans/vegetarians. Some people make excuses such as "It's already dead!" or "It's recycled from cows killed for beef." This, unfortunately, is not the case. Most leather in the United States comes from cows in India bought from farmers who are given false promises that their cows will live out happy lives on "farms of paradise." These cows then start a 2 or 3-day-long journey to the slaughterhouse, and are constantly subjected broken tails, chili pepper being rubbed into their eyes, nose ropes being pulled, and heat exhaustion. By the time they get to the slaughterhouse, already half of the cows are dead. Leather is horrible for animals and chemicals used to produce it are horrible for the environment. Remember, LEATHER IS DEAD SKIN!!!

Because no one should be wearing the animals skin, other than the animal which was born wearing it. Taking anything from an animal which is rightly their is totally wrong and unjust. No animal should have to go through what factory farm animals go through everyday of their short lives. You would treat humans that way so why would you do it to a cow? Besides, were all animals anyway, but apparently humans have the "right" to steal what's rightly an animal's. Unjust.

nobody should wear leather because it is discusting and cruel to animals and fashion. people need to stop using animals as clothes because it's not right and it's discusting. neither thing is meant to be used together.

People have enough issues with skin. Racism and self confidence all come with skin. Too fat. Too skinny. People need to learn to be comfortable in their own skin, not preserved, anti-rot skin off of a cow.

Every human is individual, and the same goes for animals. Individual and their own being. I haven't slaughtered my best friend yet to see if her skin looks better on me, so why an animal's?

Cruelty follows close behind, but that's expected. Death comes as well, but lately death doesn't phase anyone. So I think everybody needs to look deeper into the leather industry.

Time to pull out those metaphorical phrases we learned in grade 5.

People who wear leather are probably the same people who would wear there cat as a fur scarf. Its just plain wrong, and gross.

hello fellow veggies, i like totally agree that wearing leather is like totally wrong !

On the first day of class this semester I noticed this guy sitting on the other side of the room and he looked maybe like 55 or so. He was wearing a leather jacket, slouching in his chair with his arms crossed. Every once in a while he'd get this smug expression on his face when someone would say something and then he would look around the room. He looked like he was trying so hard to be cool. And I though to myself, what a douchbag...

Leather is disgusting, because it comes from dead animals and some animal somewhere have died for that leather jacket for yours. There are many alternatives to leather, which are more eco-friendly and humane.

1. Leather stinks! [Seriously folks, it does stink! One time I was walking with my friend and she was wearing a leather jacket, and the smell was pretty bad....soon it began to rain and it just smelled even worst!]

2. Its a cow...and cows are cool! I wouldnt wear a human's skin all over me so why wear leather? If you wear leather, then you are stealing and stealing is a crime, and its a sin. So go to hell if you wear leather!

3. There are better and cheaper alternatives!

4. Animals have feelings, like us. They feel hunger, like us. They urinate themselves when they are scared, like us. They dont want to be skinned alive or remain in a cage for their short lives. And they most certainly dont want to be treated inhumanly and be murdered.

5. Because its just wrong.

Is it even a question in why yew shouldn't? It's skin from a animal that has been tortured and has had to live in a horrible enviroment and for what? To be skinned alive and used as stupid material crap. Imagine yewrself in that position and than if yewr that heartless and have nothing better to do than buy and wear the skin of a cow that was tortured up to that point than go ahead.

Other than the very obvious reason that leather comes of the back of an animal that was probably brutally murdered (and definetly without consent) Leather smells kind of bad, (I mean it's a animal's skin all processed and stuff) and I've always personaly thought leather was ugly anyways. If I was going to carry or wear a cow, I'd be in a lot of pain because it would be living and I'm sure cows are quite heavy.

Well for starters leather is not only UGLY,yes I did say U-G-L-Y, but it smells like shit! It looks gross and unattractive. Also who the hell wants to be walking around whering a dead animal. Even worse that it's a dead animal, it was most likely a painfully-dead dead animal! Most of the leather sold here was made in other countries, where animal welfare laws are not followed, or worse, non-existent!

What I really don't understand is why people choose to continuously wear leather(and fur) when their are so many other options! It isn't right for couches and furniture as well, because there are so many other kinds you can get, and still have the rich look you want! I'm sorry to disagree with you guys but I am a vegetarian and love to wear leather. I like the feel touch and smell. As a biker it is the best garment to wear for style safety comfort and dare I say sexiness. My treasured item is my studded chained and customised black leather jacket which I think looks cool with my leather biker jeans and boots. It is part of the rocker lifestyle I like and I feel fully myself dressed like this when out riding the bike. So wear leather.

Hey. Great to see someone else is a leather wearing vegetarian. I'm usually very reluctant to write to such blogs because of the vehment comments some people make if a) you wear leather and b) they find out you are a leather wearing vegetarian. The comment I would like to make is that how many of those who would not touch leather in any form actually sit on leather furniture in cars pubs and public places etc - it is virtually impossible to avoid but this does not make you a bad person etc. It's just that so much is used we are bound to come into contact with leather products at sometime. As for me a cow/sheep/pig is primarily killed for the meat, the skin is a by-product and therefore it is utilised.(Iwould not wear fur etc because the animal is killed for that purpose alone). But as for leather I do not feel a hypocrite, or any other such label, I just happen to like leather and like Rockette I love wearing black leather biker jackets and reason this is OK because I wear leather shoes (the veggie alternative is not practical- especially riding a motorbike) and wearing jackets is an extension of that. Therefore I will continue to wear leather and purchase new leather clothes as I like them. Like Rockette I like the rocker lifestyle and wear studded cutomised leather jackets as a commitment to that lifestyle. So come on let us wear our leather(s). I feel comfortable in mine.
