How many of you out there play guitar? And I mean real guitar, not Guitar Hero. I can't play guitar at all, but I can rock some Sex Pistols like nobody’s business on Xbox.
Anyways, I have these sweet new peta2 guitar picks to give away!
We have them in two widths. This means nothing to me, but hopefully guitar players everywhere will be excited! To win, comment below with your favorite Animal Rights song! Mine is definitely Propagandhi's “Nailing Descartes to the Wall.
Three of you will win two guitar picks and some of our new Fur Is Dead leaflets to pass out to all your friends. Spend some time exploring our new Fur Is Dead site, it is really amazing. Plus you can find out which Skelanimal you are. I'm Jack the rabbit!

Are you like Pulin and don't have a guitar to play? You can win one of those too!

This contest ends March 14, 2008 and the winners will be chosen and notified by March 21, 2008!
Just so you know...by commenting here, we're taking that as acknowledgment that you've read and agreed to our privacy policy.
Also by commenting, you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions.
Have fun!

I love Goldfinger's video "Free Me" because it is the first song I ever heard about animals like that and because it shows so much footage that has effected the way people see animals being slaughtered. Alot of people including me went vegetarian after seeing their video.
Posted by: Fala at February 29, 2008 1:20 PM'The Sexual Politics of Meat' by Consolidated, definitely.
Posted by: kelly g. at February 29, 2008 1:41 PMI like "If everyone cared" by Nickleback. It's not directly related to animal rights but the lyrics certainly have meaning for animal rights as well as human rights,
"If everyone cared and nobody cried
If everyone loved and nobody lied
If everyone shared and swallowed their pride
We'd see the day when nobody died"

Posted by: Little_Lotte at February 29, 2008 2:05 PMOh I don't know if I can choose! Well one of my favorites would have to be Behind The Mask by Goldfinger. /\|_[=
Posted by: Kyle at February 29, 2008 3:14 PM"Nailing Descartes To The Wall 'Liquid' Meat Is Still Murder"
your favorite song is also mine. i love it so much because not only does it deal with talking about the meat industry, it also talks about how horrible the the animals are treated for the dairy industry (dairy is still rape) and i think the last line deffinently means the most in the whole song, life's too short to make another's shorter. animal liberation now! because i think its so true. it should be a quote on peta. i also love the vocals on this song!,
Posted by: Katie at February 29, 2008 3:15 PMFavorite AR song is "Open Your Eyes" or "Ted Nugent" from Goldfinger.

Posted by: Cal D. at February 29, 2008 5:12 PMMy favorite animal rights song is Free me by Goldfinger. It gets the message across but still manages to be catchy and the vocals are amazing!
Posted by: Kayla at February 29, 2008 5:53 PMMy favorite animal rights song is (the animal rights song) lite a flame by Laura Nyro because it talks about the cruelty of circuses and I hate circuses. I got foxy as my skelanimal yay cause soon I love foxes. :]
Posted by: jasmine at February 29, 2008 6:18 PMIt probably has to be "Free me" I heard it thanks to PETA2....
I like it because every time I play it on my ipod it makes me cry. Don't get me wrong, I don't enjoy crying! But the thing is that when I'm at high school or at the school bus I play it and start crying, so other students come up to me to ask if I'm doing good. I tell them that its the song I'm hearing, so they get really curious and snatch the ipod from me. They're faces start to sadden as they here the lyrics, then they ask me questions about how much animals suffer. I use that opportunity to teach about veganism and the slaughter of animals in factory farms....
So yeah, "Free me" It's my favorite song. It helps spread the message
Thanks PETA2
Nailing Descartes to the Wall - propaghandi all the way
Posted by: Andrew Mendoza at February 29, 2008 8:20 PMi've been on peta2.com
for about 3 years now
and i play guitar!
i absolutely adore the g-picks u have
i want em!
lol
and this is my fav animal rights song
with lyrics
:D
prey to human silence
by one king down
lyrics:
Caged and oppressed
Their cries remain suppressed
Falling victim to human violence
Falling prey to human silence
Killing without necessity
This ignorance enraging me
Killing without necessity
Unrepentant
Killers of the innocent
Millions die with no real reason why
We consume to satisfy
We do not kill to stay alive
As a race we torture and we kill
In the name of a God given will
What reasoning is this?
Butchers, vivisectors
The killers should be killed
We consume to satisfy
We do not kill to stay alive
As a race we torture and we kill
In the name of the God given will
Daily thousand of innocent animals are tortured and slaughtered
because of a dollar value attached to their flesh and as humans acquired a taste for it
Conscious sentient beings are murdered in laboratories and factory farms
It’s because of this ignorance they suffer and die, they suffer - die
Caged and oppressed
Their cries remain suppressed
Falling victim to human violence
Falling prey to human silence
My favourite Animal Rights song is DEFINITELY Prince - Animal Kingdom. It's so unique, I've never heard anything like it.
Of course Free Me and Meat is Murder are classics, and I love the Smiths and all. But ANimal Kingdom is unique and kinda catchy
I play bass and guitar, and some Peta2 guitar picks would definitely be sweet to have when I play shows

Posted by: ashley courtney at March 1, 2008 10:36 AMMy favorite animal rights song is
Animal Rights-Unknown
here are the lyrics:
My lovely soft touch chicken,
With your beautiful feathers,
Your natural pecking order, and your
Loving care for your baby chicks,
Male or female, equal love.
When you say you give us much more
Than you're getting back, I would answer:
Chicken, you're right.
My dear intelligent sensitive pig,
With your curly tail and playful nature,
Your undivided care for your baby pigs,
Your love for rolling around in the mud,
Looking forward to getting a nice belly rub.
When you say you deserve the same kindness,
Attention and respect you give us, I would answer:
Pig, you're right.
My sweet big brown-eyed cow,
With your strong bonding with your newborns,
Your milk, uniquely made for them,
With your loyal social character,
And herbivore eating habits.
When you say the life you're having now,
Is not how it's meant to be, I would answer:
Cow you're right.
You human being.
I believe somewhere deep inside,
There is a desire and a lot of love left,
To give our fellow living creatures,
A better life than they have today.
Make your heart as big as theirs are,
By not exploiting them for meat, eggs and milk.
The only right way is to choose for life and say:
Animals, you're definitely right.
my fave animal rights song is
"Franco-UnAmerican" by: NOFX
My favorite animal rights song is Nailing Descartes To The Wall by Propaghandi but, Goldfinger's Free Me is close. Those picks are so sweet! I am a guitar player and I am definitely excited.
Rock On Peta!
EARTH CRISIS – NEW ETHIC
"This is the new ethic.
Animals' lives are their own and must be given respect.
Reject the anthropocentric falsehood that maintains the oppressive hierarchy of mankind over the animals.
It's time to set them free.
Their lives reduced to biomachines in the factory, farm and laboratory.
Dairy, eggs and meat, fur, suede, wool, leather are the end products of torture, confinement and murder.
I abjure their use out of reverence for all innocent life.
Wildlifes' right to live in peace in their natural environment without this civilization's interference can no longer be denied.
Must no longer be denied.
To make a civilization worthy of the word civilized the cruelty must end, starting within or own lives.
Reject the anthropocentric falsehood that maintains the oppressive hierarchy of mankind over the animals.
It's time to set them free.
Veganism is the essence of compassion and peaceful living.
The animals are not ours to abuse or dominate. I abjure their use out of reverence ...
I abjure their use out of reverence ...
I abjure their use out of reverence for all innocent life."
My favorite animal rights song is currently:
Meet Your Meat, by Resolution 242.
Check it out: myspace.com/resolution242
Great song!
I love "Rise and Fall" by Rise Against! They are one of my favorite bands ever, and this is probably one of their best songs!
Posted by: Clare at March 1, 2008 4:20 PMPropagandhi's “Nailing Descartes to the Wall
is definatley an amazing song...
"Soft" by Moby is one of my favorite animal rights songs. It reminds me of the pain that animals go though at times when they are mistreated.
Posted by: Katie B at March 1, 2008 8:15 PMvery , nice!
Posted by: elsa at March 1, 2008 9:55 PMWell mine is No More Sorrow by Linkin Park, when I first heard it, I thought it was about the losers running the resturants, and the lyrics "trading money for lives" is when the customers buy the meat.
Posted by: Nick Haase at March 2, 2008 2:42 AMI have to say, my favorite animal rights song is also Propagandhi's “Nailing Descartes to the Wall. I believe it is one of the only videos that gets across the point of how horrible meat truely is. I beleive that if more people watched this, the less ppl would eat meat.
Posted by: Sandra at March 2, 2008 7:26 AMMy fav animal rights song is one that sort of puts my "rights' to their own test. One can argue that in the biblical sense animals have no soul and are oput on the earth for us to use for our various purposes ... however I find the best an only purpose should be love. There is really nothing that an animal can do better than to love (in it's own wonderful little way). This is my fav so far... by far:
It is entitled "My God Says"
1st verse:
My Lord God said I can take their lives.
I can kill them and eat them and choose when they die.
They have no souls; I can take their lives.
Oh I tried to believe, but it didn’t seem right.
In the past we would eat them: we had to survive.
But today we don’t need meat to be strong and thrive.
Refrain:
The Lord teaches Pure Love and to kill without cause
Is not God, is not Love, so I’ll keep them alive.
2nd verse:
My Lord God says we can take their lives.
So we kill them and feast on them. I wondered why.
They have no souls, so let’s take their lives.
And so I did this too, but it didn’t seem right.
For in all of God’s creatures, there shines a bright light.
And I don’t need to put this light out to survive.
Refrain:
The Lord teaches Pure Love and to kill without cause
Is not God, is not Love, so I’ll keep them alive.
(((Copyright © 1998 by Mohan Embar.))) Got to give credit where it's due... amazing job at some songs - Kudos to him for his efforts to save the planet!
Anyways - yep - we play guitar here - Acoustic and Electric lead (times 2!! - both Fenders)
Could always use Peta2 Picks to help spread the word!
Andrea Bragg
My favorite Animal Rights song is Free Me by Goldfinger.
Here are the lyrics:
I didn't ask you to take me from here
I didn't ask to be broken
I didn't ask you to stroke my hair
or treat me like a worthless token
but my skin is thick
and my mind is strong
I am built like my father was
I've done nothing wrong
so free me
I just wanna feel what life should be
I just want enough space
to turn around
and face the truth
so free me
when are you gonna realize
you're just wrong
you can't even think for yourself
you can't even make up your minds
so my mind's a jail
I hate the whole goddamn human race
what the hell do you want from me
kill me if you just don't know
or free me
I just wanna feel what life should be
I just want enough space to turn around
'cause you're all fucked
someday maybe you'll treat me like you

Morrissey you rock my veg world !
Posted by: Lanik at March 5, 2008 3:44 PMI don't know if this song was exactly inspired by animal rights, but it always makes me think about animals everytime I listen to it. This song makes me reflect on what happens to mistreated animals each day, and the fear they feel. It is called Roadside, by Rise Against.
Tell me what I'm supposed to do,
With all these left over feelings of you;
'Cause I don't know
And tell me how I'm supposed to feel,
When all these nightmares become real;
'Cause I don't know
And I don't think you see the places inside me that I find you,
And I don't know how we separate the lies here from the truth;
And I don't know how we woke up one day and somehow thought we knew
exactly what we're supposed to do.
So leave me at the roadside,
And hang me up and out to dry;
So leave me at the roadside,
And hang me up and out to dry.
And I don't think you see the places inside me that I find you;
And I don't know how we woke up one day and somehow thought we knew
exactly what we're supposed to do.
So leave me at the roadside,
And hang me up and out to dry;
So leave me at the roadside,
And hang me up and out to dry.
'Cause I don't think you see the places inside me that I find you,
And I don't know how we woke up one day and somehow thought we knew
exactly what we're supposed to do,
exactly what to do.

Rise Against - Ready to fall, awesome track
Posted by: Steven at July 15, 2008 12:32 PMMy favorite animal rights song is "free me by gold finger" this song get the point across immediately this song always upsets me because it really hard to hear the truth sometimes and knowing that people eat meat and injure animals for there personal enjoyment disgusts me and this song expresses the flaws in our world today! NO ONE in this would should eat meat and animals should have the same rights as us humans:D here are the lyrics below!
"Free Me"
I didn't ask you to take me from here
I didn't ask to be broken
I didn't ask you to stroke my hair
or treat me like a worthless token
but my skin is thick
and my mind is strong
I am built like my father was
I've done nothing wrong
so free me
I just wanna feel what life should be
I just want enough space
to turn around

so free me

you can't even make up your minds
so my mind's a jail

kill me if you just don't know
or free me
I just wanna feel what life should be
I just want enough space to turn around
'cause you're all fucked
someday maybe you'll treat me like you
I would have to say that my favorite animal rights song is If Everyone Cared by Nickleback. I don't usually listen to their music but I was listening to the radio and when I heard it to me it seemed like such a powerful song.
I think that the problem today is that no one cares, they don't care that children get paid a couple cents an hour to make the cloths they wear. They don't care that all around the world there are children starving while we just throw away food, they don't care that animals die horrible, gruesome, deaths as long as they have their new pair of shoes, or as long as they have their cheese burger, or their fried chicken.
To them it doesn't matter that if only they went vegetarian we could probably fill all those empty stomachs, all people care is about themselves.
They don't care that the trash we create destroys the oceans and the land which we live on until its too late. They don't care until they realize that animals are going endangered, they don't care until they realize that there are almost no fish left in the ocean, they don't care until the fact that there is hardly any more trees slaps them in the face.
I think we should take the advice of this song and care more, make changes for the better, use products that are eco-friendly, use products that were not tested on animal. Care about the animals and people you share this planet with, give back to the planet. We should make changes for the better, and maybe if enough people change we might see "the day when nobody," or no animal, "died," because of the greed and selfishness of man kind.
