Free Stuff Friday: Chocolate Time! February 15, 2008

So it's the day after Valentine's Day, and if you're like me, you didn't exactly get what you wanted. But it's okay, because I have something even better!

I have been searching for a good chocolate peanut butter cup for ages. Luckily for me, Lara took a page out of How it All Vegan and made the best vegan peanut butter cups EVER. Seriously.

larapbcupreal.jpg

Now I want more (and I bet you want some too)! So instead of bugging Lara to make delicious vegan treats every day of the week, we've got a contest with Allison's Gourmet! Want to win vegan truffles, caramels, and peanut butter cups? I thought so!

together.jpg

They look so good! One of you can walk away with this prize! To win, tell me the one thing you thought you would never find vegan, but then did. Mine is marshmallow fluff, can we say Ricemellow Cream?

Don't dilly dally, this contest ends February 29, 2008 and the winner will be chosen and notified by March 7, 2008!

Just so you know...by commenting here, we're taking that as acknowledgment that you've read and agreed to our privacy policy.

I never thought I'd find a vegan version of Nutella (which I used to eat religiously before I went vegan) but then I found Chocoreale on VeganEssentials. I was so happy!

I never thought I would ever find icecream sandwhiches. One day I was in my local Krogers looking around in the veggie section and saw somehting new so I look at it and alas was little Tofutti icecream sandwhcihes! I immediately purchased them and then my mom drove us home. They were kinda melted when by time I got home but that didn't stop me from eating one as soon as I got inside! They are so delicious and I recommend them to everybody!

My partner and I thought we'd never find vegan fish fingers until one day we spotted Redwood's fish-style fingers in our local supermarket! We were amazed because we'd never seen them in health food shops so seeing them sitting on an ordinary supermarket shelf was surprising.

Cream cheese. Oh god. I was dreading not being able to have a nice slice of yummy cheese cake EVER again. My mom always makes it on holidays, a big tradition. I was horrified, until I ordered Skinny Bitch in the Kitch with my street team points. =D I'm so happy I can have my 'Cheezecake' and eat it too!

I never thought I'd find vegan cupcakes. Back when I was vegetarian I always ate them, but once I went vegan I have always crave the product. They're sooo good, I have to keep reminding myself the cupcakes are vegan : }

I wasn't so sure i'd find butter or maragine, all the maragine i had found had whey powder or gelatin in it. But then i found the brand earth balance! its a whole lot better then butter and i recomend it, and my whole family has been using it instead of butter ever since we found it! its cheaper then relugar butter to!

Vegan Whip!!! It's so great! I would've never thought they could actually make vegan whip cream, but they can. Now I can sweeten my fruits with a little puffy cloud of heaven (Okay, maybe a little dramatic, but it is really good haha) I recommend it to all that miss that delicacy...
Thanks PETA2

I never knew that being vegan means not eating meat or have to do anything with animals, except for helping them. (*Cuase i'm just stupid like that) But now i know cuase a few of my friends are vegetarians and are about to go vegan. (oh, and peta.)
And thats AWESOME!!!!

I never thought I'd find a vegan cookie. Well I maybe thought that I would. But oreos? who knew! :| I used to always eat them before I even went veg but I was so pleased to find out they were actually vegan. Now I choose them over any kind of cookie! Now all I think they have to do is change their slogan to "Oreo, SOY milks' favorite cookie" =]

There's a non-vegan brand of iced tea that I was addicted to for a while and was upset when I went vegan and learned that it's not... then I found out the diet version is. Huzzah!

There's too many great vegan goodies out there that I never expected to see. The best example might be a fake egg made out of tofu! It comes in a "shell" and the "whites" of the "egg" are made of tofu. I'm not sure what the "yolk" is. I wouldn't try hard-boiling these things but they are good with toast and soy sausage patties.

When I first went vegan, I thought I'd never enjoy macaroni and cheese again...and I haven't. But I've found something just as good - better, since it's cruelty free - Mac and Chreese! It's easy, quick, and oh-so-good! Even my omni friends love it!

Once I was at Wal-Mart and it was a few monthes after I had gone vegan. It was in December and all of the Christmas stuff was around and I was getting my soymilk when I said to myself, "I will never get to have eggnog again." Sad right? Well, during our next trip to Wally World, I was yet again getting my soymilk when I found SILK SOYNOG!!! It was like a blessing! Now, Christmas is good again! :)

I never ever thought I'd find a recipe for a vegan "Jell-O," or "gelatin" minus all of the icky hooves and bones and cruelty. But I found the recipe online and it's amazing (and cruelty-free)!

(If you're curious, check it out, here!)

My favorite Christmas treat used to be chocolate covered cherries. I never thought that I would be able to find vegan ones. Then one day when I was at the Christmas Tree Shop I decided to check the ingredients on some chocolate covered cherries and they were vegan! Cella's dark chocolate covered cherries are awesome! The Christmas Tree Shop is my secret place for cheap, yummy vegan foods. Sometimes they have vegan cookies, hummus dip, rice mixes and candies that are accidentally vegan.

A really yummy vegan butter cream cake. It's on the expensive side, but a local hippie cafe here in Kansas City makes it, along with a variety of other vegan sweets: http://www.edenalley.com/

The most surprising one I've ever encountered is either vegan haggis or vegan caviar--not exactly things I enjoy eating, but amusing nevertheless.

I never thought that there was a vegan ice cream! I'm not vegan, but I try not to eat that much dairy, it's just a little hard to be a vegan in my household, so I try to be as good as one as possible for me! Well, I found out that there IS a vegan ice cream! One day, I went to a health food store, and saw it right there! One of the brands is Temptation Vegan ice cream! It's even made by vegans, so its even more delicious and animal cruelty free! Those of you who don't know, you can just find it in a lot of health food markets! You should go out and try it! It'll be yummy in your tummy, and wont hurt those who provide non-vegan ice cream! [[The cows and goats!]]

When I first became vegan all the chocolate I could find was dark chocolate that was really bitter. I was really disappointed, not that I don't like dark chocolate but its just not the same as milk chocolate which I LOVE!!! After a lot of searching and taste testing, I found a brand that makes "light" chocolate and its wonderful!!!
Sorry I can't remember the name of the brand right now, incase anyone else is missing milk chocolate. I really like reading what everyone else was surprised to find, I found some things on here that I've been missing! Thanks guys:)
This is a great contest idea.
