During a 2007 undercover investigation inside a South American slaughterhouse, PETA's investigators discovered that shocking abuse was taking place during the kosher slaughter of cattle. The slaughterhouse is located in Uruguay, a leading exporter of kosher meat to both the United States and Israel.

If that was being done to people they would stop.
Animals, I think, are just as important as humans, why can't they be treated that way?
In my opinion, the best way to ensure you're eating cruelty-free kosher food is to become vegan or vegetarian.

Posted by: kathy at February 15, 2008 1:49 PMI am Jewish. Part of Kosher is reasonable treatment of animals, although they are killed for meat. Per Kosher regulations, the cow you saw being killed is NOT Kosher. You can see the filth in the area, the animal is alive and could feel pain, that alone makes the meat NOT KOSHER! So, not only are they mistreating animals, they are selling non-Kosher meat as Kosher.
