The Casey Calvert Day Of Action Is This Saturday December 6, 2007

Hello friends. I just wanted to remind everyone that this Saturday, December 8th, is the day of action in memory of animal rights activist and musician Casey Calvert. When he wasn't tearing up the stage with Hawthorne Heights, Casey spent a good amount of time helping animals by volunteering at his local animal shelter and working with peta2 on campaigns. We're sad to say goodbye, but we want his spirit to be an inspiration for everyone to stop waiting around and start taking action to help make the world a more positive place.

This Saturday, please spend some time volunteering at your local shelter to help all those animals who could use an extra pat on the head, walk, or scratch behind the ear.

While some people are sadly still buying and breeding animals, it's important to be proactive and really use the passion in our daily lives to do some good. It's essential to educate everyone about the importance of spaying and neutering animals and adopting from shelters.

If you can't make it out to the shelter for some reason, please consider our alternative action of taking the Veg Pledge in Casey's memory. Isn't it empowering to know that we can all leave a legacy of compassion as Casey did with his life?

While looking at all our photos of good times with Casey, we came across these ones. Check out the awesome stencil which Casey helped to spray on shirts at Warped Tour.

We have a handful of these rare stencils left and want you to get one to spread the word about animal rights. So as a reward to those of you who report back to us that you took action in Casey's memory, we'll give people with the best fifteen reports each one of these stencils for free. From there, you can make as many shirts, posters, or other stuff that you want with the "peta2 is for Animal Lovers" stencil. Just make sure you are on the Street Team and submit a report through the form or email StreetTeam@peta2.com with what you did.

Be sure to get your reports to us by December 15, and I'll notify the lucky winners by December 22. We assume you read and agreed to our privacy policy and the following terms and conditions.

Thank you all for the amazing support you've been showing in such tragic times.

-Pulin

2 of my best friends loved Hawthorne Heights, and one of them actually was probally as sad as Peta2 was when he died. :[ I always wondered why exactly he died. It just bothers me how people just die like that... :\
I guess thats just life.
It always seems like the worst of things happens to the greatest people. I believe that everything happens for a reason. Whatever the reason it was Casey died, im sure it was for a good reason. But he was just such a good person! :[ It so sad that he just... died...
I know that he was a huge supporter of Peta and Peta 2. And such a devoted animal lover and vegetarian. :] Its people like him that turned me Veg. I've been one for 2 months now. And all the support from people like him and you guys at Peta2, especially Pulin, has really helped me stay strong.

In loving memory of Casey Calvert,
He's in a better place now.

I've never been quite a fan of Hawthorne Heights, but I started liking a few of their songs, and almost caught them at warped tour... I kinda wish I got to come earlier that day so I could see their set. And this is still pretty heartbreaking to hear for me. R.I.P. Casey.

I can't believe he's really gone...he didn't deserve to go so young.
