Urge bebe To Pull Fur From Its Shelves! November 1, 2007

Posted by Marta | Permalink | Comments ( 10 ) | TrackBack

With Halloween officially over, we're headed into the winter holiday season, and that means it's time to start fighting off unruly crowds at the mall. Yikes! I personally plan on avoiding the mall as much as humanly possible (which I do anyway), but when I do make my way out to purchase some gifts for my family and friends, there's one store I can guarantee will not get my hard-earned money—bebe.

Not only will bebe continue to buy rabbit fur for months after its supposed announcement of going "fur-free" the company also has no plans to drop any fur from its inventory for this fall and winter. This is totally inexcusable. Animals don't deserve to suffer and die all to become just a bit of trim on a jacket. How vain is that?

Like other animals farmed for their fur, rabbits are kept in tiny, filthy cages, surrounded by their own waste. To kill the rabbits, fur farmers break the animals' necks or smash their skulls before stringing them up by their legs to slit their throats.

Check out Ryan's adorable bunny-friend, Bambi, below (AKA peta2's official "spokesbunny."). Can you imagine looking into a bunny's eyes and telling her that she has to die so you can use her fur on your coat? No way, right? Paying someone else to do that is just as bad—actually, it's worse in my opinion. Don't pay someone else to do something you can't even watch. bebe must actually believe that people want to wear bunnies. Ridiculous!

Please contact bebe founder Manny Mashouf and let him know that you will not be shopping at bebe until the company follows the lead of its top competitors, including J.Crew and Wet Seal, who have not only pledged to stop using fur but also pulled it from their shelves. Politely ask the company to make the compassionate decision to go completely fur-free.

Let's save the bunnies!

Marta

Bebe is completely ridiculous and out of their mind. I will definetly be telling all of my friends about this cruel discovery upon this brand. I will also leaflet against fur this whole winter and would really appreciate if my fellow activists would do like-wise!!

Peta2 rocks!!

P.S. Learn from the bunnies, they would never wear a flesh jacket.

Bebe I strongly urge you to take fur off your shelves, you will lose business. My friends love your products but we all pledge to be fur-free, and we will not support you supporting killing animals for their fur. If humans we meant to have fur we'd be born with it.
P.S
WEAR YOUR OWN SKIN!

You guys are being ridiculous
How can you say you are going to stop selling fur
And then just keep selling it
You sound like the Bush Administration and War
Just please stop selling fur
I love your clothes but how am I supposed to shop there
It is disgusting
I don't want a dead animal on me
They deserve better than that
So please stop
Thank YOU

Why use animal fur? Is it really needed in order to look "cool" or in order to show that you have money? The only thing that it's really doing is harming the animals and slowly they're becoming exctint.Just stop selling fur!! it's not that hard to stop. If you stop your not only doing something that actually has a meaning, but, your spearing some animals live.So please just STOP! Thanks for listening.

Why are you still using animal fur and skin?It isn't very hard to switch over.I've done it for years. Please stop killing animals for there fur and skin.I'm going to tell my hole family not to buy from your store.I'm not even going to buy your stuff used.Just switch over to fake fur.How can you sleep at night? knowing that you've killed something that had a soul.

Its absurd BeBe enjoys money so much that they are willing to murder. BeBe might as well be hit men. I am planning to make a career out of fashion since I have held a great passion for the subject for multiple years now and I know that murder is never fashionable.I hope BeBe's owners realize that their clothing is the sound of a bunnies cracking skull, the crunch of its spinal cord breaking, and its cry that is famous to hunters(which sounds exactly like a new born infants). That's what is representing their store, that's not style at all.

It's good to know our voices are heard and people are reacting in posotive ways, but it is not fair that BeBe won't take fur off their shelves! Rabbits are innocent creatures with the same right to life that we have. I will never shop at BeBe until fur and skins are off the shelves. Its outrageous.
