I think you know by now that we try to bring really eye-opening information to the public because industries which exploit animals want people to remain ignorant. We have found that when people learn the truth, they're horrified by cruelty to animals and want to help stop it!
So with that said, we recently uncovered evidence that chocolate-maker Mars Inc.— creator of M&M's, Snickers, and other candies—continues to fund deadly animal tests!
Mars has funded cruel experiments in which mice were fed a candy ingredient and forced to swim in a pool of paint. The mice had to find a platform to try to avoid drowning, only to be later killed and dissected. In another gruesome experiment supported by Mars, rats were fed cocoa and then sedated with carbon dioxide so that blood could be collected through a needle that punctured their hearts!
How messed up is that? And you want proof? Just check out these studies:

I will be the first to admit that testing on animals for candy is one of the most moronic things imaginable. But then again, consider that beverage companies including Coca-Cola and PepsiCo were sponsoring animal tests not too long ago (that is before we all pressured them to stop this insanity).
Mars' top competitor, Hershey's, has pledged to PETA that it will not fund or conduct experiments on animals, yet Mars has not adopted this same, humane stance despite our polite letters which you can read here and here. Please send a letter to urge Mars to follow Hershey's lead and immediately end all support for animal tests! Click on the image below to help animals.

This is yet another example of stupid, sadistic, bored "scientists", who have no intelligence, no compassion, and nothing better to do with their time or their lives than carry out sadistic, pointless experiments on beautiful animals.
Much less the fact that any results that are gained will have no relevance to humans. Spiritually, animals are the same as humans - they feel pain, happiness, sadness, fear, etc.
Anatomically/biologically animals are completely different. Their bodies work in different ways than humans'. Any results from vivisection will never be reliable.
Are years of animal experiments, are "scientists" really too stupid as to have not worked that out yet??
A government policy on animal testing states, along the lines, that animal experiments must only be conducted in cases than are relevant to human safety/existence. OK ... But ... in what way is chocolate vital to human existence? And what results exactly do these companies hope to find from these "experiments"?
The same goes for cosmetics testing ... in what way is makeup vital for human existence.
Its all very well having these things - confectionary, makeup, medications, etc - and it's all very well wanting to do things -
BUT LEAVE ANIMALS OUT OF IT

i heard about this from my science teacher and everyone agreed that this is WRONG and POINTLESS.
animals FEEL just like people do.
its true that we need to test for things like medicine sometimes.
but makeup and hairspray arent worth killing anything over.
im doing a research project about this now because it made me so mad.
there is no need for monkeys to be shoved into tubes and for mice to swim in paint and find a platform to survive for any reason.. ESP> CANNNDY!
go to myspace and search the videos - mars animal testing ...i saw a video that made me SICK to say we live with people that cruel.

This is insanity! That's totally flicktarded that people torture animals just for a few seconds of pleasure with a candy bar. Nobody thinks that animals feel pain, fear, or happiness. They all think they're just robots here for them to slaughter and gobble up. :(
My friend who also happens to be veggie swore off eating Mars products forever today. :]

I'm glad I've been awear of this bull shi* so early in my life. I'll be sure to make Mars pay for what they have done to all these poor helpless animals. I'll be sure to do everything in my power to stop this, and hope you do to. All the mice and rats and every other animal they hurt to make it 'seem' as if there doing anything in thier stupid factory!!! I've started a petition thats going around my school and I hope it will go around the country as well. I'm pressing you to start your own and send it it!!!

I am so outraged by MARS! Especially because they have lied to the public about their animal testing, or at least they didn't tell the whole truth.
I've done some research and apparently flavanols from cocoa have health benefits so MARS has been testing on animals to substanciate their "healthy chocolate" claim. And I think they are by law required to do testing on this since it's linked to pharmacutical benefits or something like that.
In any case, there is absolutely no need to get blood pressure or heart rates from these poor animals by drowning them and cutting open their legs!!! Hell, I'll go eat some chocolate and run around and have them take my blood pressure if they want!!
And for those of you in the area who would be interested I AM PLANNING A DEMONSTRATION AGAINST THE MARS COMPANY!!! It will be April 26, so if anyone is interested hit up this discussion board and let me know!!! I'll check back with more details!

as soon as i found out about these murderous candy companies i havnt eaten any candy since then. infact now i dont eat any packaged things, i only eat the unprosessed stuff because you never know now. i dont even use any makeup anymore because i dont trust the bulk of the cruel bastards. its horrible. screw animal testing. someone suggested to get some people who get deathrow sentences and life sentences into proson and quite frankly i agree with them. even i would be a volunteer to be tested on instead of an innocent animal. i saw a video and a poor dog was drugged. it really made me want to cry. this is why im a vegetarian now and i will stay vegetarian (im even considering going vegan).
this iz soooooooo sad it makes me wanna cry so im goN to start layN off the meat a little and hopfully become full vegetarian by the end of 2009 soooooo i will start helpin support these causes b cauz this needz to b stopd n it will we all have to help though

So many of you leaving comments are lamenting the fact that you can't eat skittles or starburst. Did you know that they both use gelatin? Did you know that gelatin is made from the ground up bones of animals? What about the milk they use in the chocolate of their candy bars? It comes from cows who are abused and hooked up to machines for their whole lives just so we can drink something that isn't even good for us (animal protein leaches calcium from your bones, it doesn't make your bones strong like the milk industry wants us to believe). Do some research... go vegan!

These are pet foods that we may or may not be feeding to our pets. We could be feeding them things that could be terrible for them! I hope you take this into consideration.

Instead of testing animals that only ask for our love and nurturing, why not use prisoners that are on death row, those are the ones that deserve the torture because those prisoners do not have any regard for humanity.
