UK's National Fishing Week July 24, 2007

Fishing I tell you, what’s that about? How can anyone derive pleasure from that so-called sport? You're either sitting on your arse or you're maiming defenceless animals, not a lot of fun either way, but for some reason a few crazies still do it. To try and boost the popularity of the prehistoric blood sport some UK-based fishing organisations have created National Fishing week in the UK. I guess they are going to try to give it a new look—maybe getting people to run around in caveman outfits so the image matches the ethics.

peta2 US is currently running a mission in the UK—Save Fish, Eat Chips and this week is definitely the best time to get involved. So print off your sign and get your cameras out and start snapping.

Fish are often overlooked when it comes to cruelty as they are not as cute and cuddly as a dog or cat, but they still feel pain. They can learn from one another to avoid nets and they can recognise individuals in a shoal. Learn more about fish here. Remember boys and girls, if you aren't already a member of the Street Team, you should be swimming with excitement to join and start helping animals!
