Some stars really do have big hearts and use their spare time to draw attention to issues that are truly important. Adam Brody, CSI's Jorja Fox, Oscar nominee Ryan Gosling, Taryn Manning, and the lovely Katherine Heigl are among the stars who have signed PETA's petition supporting California's Healthy Pets Act. (Katherine Heigl is just so adorable, and her new movie Knocked Up is causing quite a buzz, looks like I'll be hitting the Cineplex this weekend.) Other celebs lending their support to the bill, which mandates spay/neuter surgeries for dogs and cats, include Bradley Whitford, Alicia Silverstone, director Richard Linklater, Alyssa Milano, and William Shatner. Click the image below to see who else signed PETA's petition.

Some celebs are getting in on the act with PSA's, like Bill Maher who created a "New Rule" to voice his support. And PETA just released this PSA starring Kevin Nealon and Miami Ink's Ami James (Sigh. I've always known he was really a big-hearted softie.) among others.
