I first saw Antibalas at the Brooklyn Vegan party at SXSW, and have not been able to get enough of them since. If you like danceable music with a political twist, then this is the band for you. And if you like vegetarian baritone sax players (Antibalas' Martin Perna), then the interview below is for you.

What do you think about KFC?
KFC is nasty in so many ways, and the world would be better off without them.
What do you think is the best way to deal with a company like KFC?
Boycott them, and provide better alternatives which are just as affordable and accessible to the people who patronize them.
How long has it been since you became vegetarian?
I became a vegetarian when I was 16. I realized that I had gone 3 weeks without eating any meat, and just decided to keep it going to see how long I could last...it's now been 16 years.
What are some of the veg snacks that you absolutely can't live without while on tour?
Kombucha, carrots, hummus and pita bread, and good chips and salsa.
What would you say to someone who is thinking about going vegetarian, but is afraid there won't be anything to eat?
Try everything. Learning how to cook/prepare food is essential. There are good vegetarian options now that weren't available 10 years ago. Give your body the time it needs to adjust.
Now, to win Antibalas' new album, Security, all you have to do is fill out the form below! We have 3 to give away, and I will be announcing the winners on the blog in two weeks.
You're welcome-Lara
