Vegan Burgers Sell Out in Minutes April 3, 2007

If you're an avid and longtime reader of the peta2 blog, you might already be very aware of the fact that I'm a huge fan of food. If you're a newbie, check out this blog I wrote in August of last year to understand my utter admiration for all things vegan and edible.
On that note, I wanted to share some good news: Newport-Mesa Unified School District in California plans to start offering vegan food at every secondary school cafeteria in their district this month. Newport Harbor High School set the trend in the district by frying up a dozen vegan burgers to start with on Monday, and since those burgers sold out in minutes, they planned on preparing twice as many burgers today. Click here to check out the Daily Pilot article.
The demand for vegan food in schools is rapidly increasing, and it's no wonder—with so many delicious vegan foods available these days, who would want a dead cow on a bun? However, I know there are still many of you out there who have yet to try a veggie burger. C'mon, people! They are available everywhere, so go to the nearest grocery store and try one of my favorites tonight. Here are a few to get the drool-factor started:
Boca Original Vegan Burger
Gardenburger Black Bean Chipotle Burger
Amy’s All American Veggie Burger
Slather on some guacamole or barbecue sauce, add a bun, some onions, lettuce, and tomatoes, and after you eat every last amazing morsel, contemplate how you waited so long to give awesomeness a try.

If you're interested in getting some veg options in your school's cafeteria (and I know you are!), go here for everything you need to get started.
Good grief I'm hungry now. Again.

P.S. - I totally had a piece of vegan chocolate Oreo ice cream cake today. Yes, it was as wonderful as it sounds.
