Tobey Maguire's Going Leather-Free April 13, 2007

The paparazzi has been all over Tobey Maguire since the birth of his adorable little girl, Ruby Sweetheart, but now with the release of Spider-Man 3 less than a month away they actually want to hear from him, not just hide in the bushes with their telephoto lenses. I'm actually excited about Spider-Man 3, mainly because I can't wait to see James Franco on the big screen again. Sigh. Why don't any of the guys I know look like him, even just a little bit?! Life is so cruel. So Tobey's been chatting it up with the reporters and one of the main topics he's chosen to discuss is why he's a vegetarian. "I've been a vegetarian for 14 years now," he told Parade Magazine. "Actually, I'm close to being a vegan, but I'm not one, technically. I don't eat eggs, or nearly any dairy—no cheese or milk. I do eat honey, and a piece of milk chocolate here and there...It's never really been that hard for me. I've never had the desire to eat meat. In fact, when I was a kid I would have a really difficult time eating meat at all." In an effort to become more animal friendly he's decided to phase leather out of his life too, in fact, he even ordered a car without a leather interior and says he's been wearing canvas shoes. Aw, he's a good Tobey Maguire. Oh, and just an FYI...his Spider-Man 3 cast mates James Cromwell and Bryce Dallas Howard are also veg...I bet their Kraft Services table was a veg paradise.

Posted by: brent simpson at April 14, 2007 6:57 PMOhh, unfortunate. I actually know a guy who looks very similar to James Franco! Enough reason to come over to NZ? (I think he's gay though D: )
Posted by: Sophie-Lee at April 25, 2007 12:51 AMI apploud Toby Maguire for his commitment to veganism and not wearing leather, however, it's ironic that Bernard "Bird Flu" Matthews is the sponsor for Spiderman 3 in the UK. This just sucks.

I love how more and more celebrities are becoming vegetarian. The public tends to follow their example, and compassion is a good example to be followed. I also love canvas shoes; they are comfy, they let your feet breathe, and they are skin-free! I recommend No Sweat Apparel's organic hemp sneakers:
