Isn't it horrifying to imagine being killed for your skin? Sadly, this is a reality for many animals, including kangaroos. Yup, that's right, kangaroos.
As you might imagine, those of us who work here at peta2 see some really gruesome and sickening videos of cruelty to animals more often than most people, but I can't really complain, cause at least I'm much, much better off than the animals in the videos. That being said, this was one of the hardest videos for me to watch in a while. Click on the image below to watch it (Heads up--it's graphic):
How could someone do something so awful? It's simple, really. For money. After they are slaughtered, kangaroos are skinned to be made into throw rugs, purses, jackets, or shoes. Senate Bill 880 would legalize kangaroo skin sales in California, where they have been banned since 1970. We need your help to stop it. Click here to send a message to the Senate Natural Resources Committee, asking them to oppose SB 880.

PS -- Did you know that soccer stud David Beckham replaced his kangaroo-leather "Predator" boots with a synthetic alternative after he heard about the cruelty involved in making the shoes? Gotta love him!

Please everyone, pledge not to buy fur/leather. Would you like it if you were walking to school, got shot, and skined alive?

They would not pass a bill allowing you or me skin each other for shoes or jackets, what makes them any different? There is no need for this. The are not being used as a "needed" food source just for "fashion". What so fashionable about dead skin?

I already don't buy any type of fur be it real or synthetic so I guess it's ok if I refrain from watching this. I already sent emails. We cant let this go on any longer. What the hell is wrong with people..thinking that animals dont have rights but we do. Were all the damn same ..thank u for the post i never knew this was happening

How could any human being do such cruel actions and have no shame nor guilt as he/she buries a blade in an animals leg knowing full well that making coats for profit is not only vile but absolutely EVIL. How could we be blinded by vain fashion as we know that growing numbers of animals suffer from this unneccesary industry? Have we no shame? Have we no guilt? When was it that "humane treatment" escaped our thoughts? In World War 2? In Rwanda? In Darfur?!? What will it take for people to stand up and move away from the sidelines to speak for defenseless creatures who have been robbed of their voice...therefore without a right to live? Thats ridiculous! Every creature deserves to live! Killing an animal is just as wrong as killing a human being. Especially for something so insane as fashion...There it be I leave you with my last bidding...If this is a world where we must live silently and let people steal the rights of an innocent animal then I wish to die screaming to defend the rights of this animal. No ONE deserves such treatment...EVER.

I'm generally a nice person but this makes me want to go and get revenge on those son of a bitches. sorry I'm just reallly frustrated and pissed off that people do this. Good post I think people need to see this seriously. Really though I think PETA members are the only people in this world with a damn heart

People like this make me sick. I hope they all die a horrible, painful, grusome, drawn out death for what they've done to these beautiful animals.

And they're probably going to sell the skins for like fifty dollars. Don't you think an animal's life is worth so much more than a printed piece of paper?

When I heard about the kangaroo slaugher, tears literallyyy came to my eyes, this makes me so mad that people kill inocent animals for their own amusement! That is so , GAHH! it makes me want to cry!
