Every time another kid walks into school with a semi-automatic weapon and blows his classmates' heads off, America goes nuts debating whether to blame the creators of "Grand Theft Auto" or Marilyn Manson for the tragedy. Right ... now, fade-in to 2007, and lawmakers in South Dakota are actually considering lowering the age at which kids are allowed to go out and shoot woodland creatures to 10. That's right: the good ol' boys in the South Dakota legislature seem to think that the current hunting age limit of twelve years old is just not fair. Instead, the state wants kids to be able to hunt and kill small animals at age 10. Besides the fact that killing animals and calling it a "sport" is incredibly cruel, does anyone see a problem here? LIKE THAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT PUTTING GUNS IN THE HANDS OF FIFTH GRADERS?

The legislation, as originally introduced by [Representative] Buckingham, would have removed any age limit to hunt small animals, such as pheasants and rabbits, and to hunt coyotes and varmints. Those who were at least 10 could hunt deer and other big game. In all instances, those younger than 12 would have to be accompanied by adults.
The measure was changed to set 10 as the minimum hunting age at the request of Rep. Tom Deadrick, R-Platte. He said the bill likely would fail in the Legislature if it allowed children of any age to hunt.
"This is a big step for the state of South Dakota to go from a minimum of 12 to no minimum age whatsoever," Deadrick said. "We can do it in stages and see how it works."

Great, let's teach kids that killing animals is fun. Really, that'll end well. (*cough* Columbine High School *cough*)
It's interesting to note that this bill was pushed through by the gun nuts at the National Rifle Association, who are also lobbying several other states to lower or completely get rid of their minimum hunting age. If these people had their way, every newborn would be given an AK-47 at birth.

This has quite possibly got to be the stupidest thing I have ever seen! I think they should be raising the hunting range, not sticking animals lives in the hands of 5th graders!

UGH! is there anyway to stop this? that is perhaps the most idiodic idea iv heard of, 2nd to the day man decided drinking cow secretion out of their nipples was a good idea..and "healthy" too.

And Marilyn Manson is so cool, why blame it on him I kids with guns and their parents actually, wait for it, supporting them is more likely to have caused that colombine incident than a musician that sometimes has explicit lyrics.
Blame it on marilyn manson, while telling your son to slaughter that rabbit hopping along hapily ...
This is so right!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is so cruel to murder animals like that!!!!!! I love meat,but it isn't worth it to eat it after that animal murder.
