POM's Vice President and Spokesperson Calls It Quits! December 26, 2006

Apparently POM's Vice President and spokesperson, Fiona Posell, couldn't take the heat—this past Friday, the juice company posted a press release announcing that Fiona has resigned after several months of protests by animal rights activists. Score one for the animals!

For those of you who don't know, POM funds painful experiments on animals in order to sell pomegranate juice. In one of POM's ridiculous experiments, pregnant mice were fed POM juice and their week-old babies were locked in a chamber with almost no oxygen for 45 minutes, causing severe brain damage; the babies were then killed so that experimenters could dissect their brains. In another experiment, rabbits were fed POM and their arteries were damaged to study the juice's effect on erectile dysfunction. All of this just so that POM can claim that its pomegranate juice has magical healing powers ...

The fact that Fiona resigned shows that POM is feeling the pressure from all the phone calls, letters, and protests. But alas—POM has still not stopped funding experiments on animals, so let's keep up the pressure! Click here to send an e-mail to POM's CEO Matt Tupper through peta2's online form and tell him that you won't buy any POM products until the company goes cruelty-free. Oh yeah, and if you'd like to get in touch with Fiona's replacement to let them know how you feel about POM's cruel animal experiments, here's the contact info for POM's new spokesperson:
Sitrick And Company
1840 Century Park East - Suite 800
Los Angeles, CA 90067

Seriously ... it's juice. Why the hell would anyone torture animals just to sell some juice? It doesn't even make sense!
