Oakland Cali's Communique just dropped their self-produced EP, Walk Into the Light, and then front man Rory Henderson dropped us a line to let us know why you won't find any animals on his plate. Take a look at our interview with him below.

Why did you decide to become a vegetarian?
I went veg when I was 12 years old, and my reasoning was very emotional at the time. I did not want to hurt anything if it was not necessary-it is still the main reason I am a vegetarian.

Do you have any advice to someone who is thinking of making the switch to a vegetarian diet?
Well, once I was living on my own I became a vegan, which was tough at first but also fun. I embraced the challenge, and developed a real love of cooking. I think cooking or shopping with others, who have been at it longer, is a great way to initiate yourself. Like most things, it's more fun with friends, and if you go into it with a good attitude and sense of self-reliance then it's a breeze.

Do you have any favorite things to eat during the holidays?
My family goes back and forth between traditional and non. Some years it will be Thai or Indian, and others-like this year, we bust out the Tofurky and rage on all the traditional sides.

Do you like Tofurky?
Furk yeah!!!

That is all! Look out for good things to come from this band in 07.
