Ugly Betty Rules! November 9, 2006

Ugly Betty is by far my favorite new show this season. From the minute it starts I'm glued to the set. I won't take phone calls—maybe if it's Davey Havok, but even then he'd have to talk fast because as soon as the commercial was over he'd be listening to the dial tone—and no one in my house is allowed to make a peep until it's over. I totally get that I'm over the top about it and to me that makes my psychosis acceptable. It's got everything a girl could want on a Thursday night all wrapped into one glorious hour of suspense, comedy, lying , cheating, backstabbing, sex, murder, and fashion. I just love the way that the plucky, lovable fashion disaster that is Betty always manages to somehow save the day. Did you happen to catch peta2 anti-fur poster boy, Nicholas Gonzalez as he stole ideas from Betty and the Mode mag crew for his own fashion rag? I'm hoping he'll be showing up a lot. And what about the anti-fur stuff that is in practically every episode? Like last week when the evil scheming fur wearing Wilhelmina was unexpectedly surprised by a visit from her daughter Nico who ruined all of her mom's plans and staged an anti-fur protest in the Mode magazine lobby. She donned a few tiny pieces of strategically placed cloth with "fur is dead" painted on them in red "blood" and caused quite the scene, until her horrible mother Wilhelmina showed up in nothing but fur, staging her own protest. Don't worry, she'll get hers, the truly wretched always do. I can't wait to see what happens tonight. Oh, and just so you know, I'm not alone in my Betty obsession, she was a pretty popular Halloween costume this year. This one's my fave:
