If You're From the UK, You NEED to Read This! November 7, 2006

Hey you Brits! So the Royal family have never been exactly blessed with good looks, and although we gorgeous animal-friendly people feel sorry for them, there is no need for the Royals to take it out on the beautiful bears of Canada! We're asking Queen Elizabeth II and the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to stop using real bear skins to make hats for the five guards regiments.

Bears killed for their skins either are shot during hunts or get caught in steel-jaw traps, where they can suffer for days before a trapper finally comes along and kills them. We're pretty bored of being fobbed off with the MoD's excuses. (They must spend half days thinking up stories for PETA about why they're still killing animals to make hats.) We need your help to make them listen and to stop killing the bears!

On Monday, 13 November, PETA Europe will be meeting with the MoD's defence clothing team. Bears need as many people as possible to call, write, fax and e-mail on their behalf. Please, sometime before the 13th, take a minute to let the MoD know that you do not support the killing of bears for hats!

The Rt Hon. Des Browne, MP
Secretary of State for Defence
Ministry of Defence, Main Building

Fax: +44 (0)207 218 7140
Telephone: +44 (0)207 218 9000 (Ask for the office of the secretary of state, Des Browne.)

Remember to be polite, but don't be afraid to give them an earful!

-Violet
